දුටුගැමුණු රජතුමා රිදී සපයාගත් ස්ථානයේ ඉදිවූ රිදී විහාරය බලන්නයි අද ඔයාලව එක්කන් යන්නෙ.
රිදී විහාරය පිහිටා ඇත්තේ ශ්‍රී ලකාවේ වයඹ පළාතේ, කුරුණෑගල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ රිදීගම ප්‍රදේශයේය.
අතීතයේ දුටුගැමුණු රජ සමයේ ගැල් කණ්ඩායමක් වෙළඳාමේ යන අතරමග මෙම ස්ථානයේදී කුසගින්නක් දැනිල තියෙනව. මේ අසල තිබූ වරකා ගසකින් ගෙඩියක් කඩාගෙන ඔවුන් ආහාරයට අරගෙන තියෙනව. ගැල් නායකයට හිතිල තියනව සංඝයා වෙනුවෙන් කොටසක් වෙන්කරන්න ඕන කියල, ඒ වෙලාවෙ එක්තරා රහතන් වහන්සේ නමක් මෙම ස්ථානයට ඍධියෙන් වැඩම කලා කියලයි ජනප්‍රවාදයේ සඳහන් වෙන්නෙ. පසුව එම රහතන් වහන්සේ මෙම ස්ථානයේදී වරකා අනුභව කල නිසා මෙම විහාරය වරකා විහාරය ලෙස හඳුන්වල තියනව. මේ ඔබ දකින්නෙ ඒ විහාරයයි.
දැන් අපි යමු රිදී විහාරය පැත්තට, මෙම විහාරයටත් ඉතිහාස කතාවක් තියනව.
කලින් වරකා අනුභව කල ගැල් කණ්ඩායම තමන් ගමන් කලයුතු දිසාව රහතන් වහන්සේගෙන් විමසල තියනව, ඒ අවස්ථාවේදී රහතන් වහන්සේ ගල්කුලක් යටින් වැටී ඇති අඩිපාරක් පෙන්වල තියනව.
එම ගල්කුල යටින් යන ගැල් කණ්ඩායමට විශාල රිදී තලාවක් හම්බ වෙනව. පසුව ඔව්න් එයින් කොටසක් ගෙනගොස් දුටුගැමුණු රජතුමාව දැනුවත් කරල තියනව. පසුකාලීනව දුටුගැමුණු රජුගේ විහාර සැදීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය රිදී ලබාගෙන ඇත්තේ මෙම ස්ථානයෙන් කියල සඳහන් වෙනව. පසුව රජතුමා කෘතගුණ සැලකීමක් ලෙස එම ස්ථානයේ විහාරයක් කරවා පූජා කරල තියනව.
අද ඔයාලට දකින්න ලැබෙන රිදී විහාරය යනුවෙන් හඳුන්වනු ලබන්නේ අන්න ඒ විහාරයයි. තවද රන් ආලේපිත බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාවක් ද පූජා කරල තියනව . ඒ පිළිමය අදටත් දැකගන්න පුළුවන්.

Later, the Arhat ate Varaka (jackfruit) at this place, so this temple is known as "Varaka Vihara". This is the temple you see.

The group of wagons going under the rock found a large silver plate. Later they took part of it and informed King "Dutugemunu". Later on, it is said that the silver required for the construction of the temple of King "Dutugemunu" was obtained from this place. Later, the king built a temple at that place as a sign of gratitude.
The silver temple that you see today is called that temple. A golden Buddha statue has also been offered. That statue can be seen even today.
