      @ripptydevibes2581 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to look it up on google, its not great. I can do maybe 16 miles cruise on a full tank (OEM tank) which is a tiny tank. Probably 25 miles on flat water. I knew when I built it that id be regretting not going with a bigger tank, but I was more concerned about un needed weight, and I dont actually regret it. We carry an extra tank on rare ocassions.

    Building one similar all welded build (16x48 mod v Weldbilt) 97 gtx 787 140mm pump but using a little different pump angle and also have added manual trim from a older587cc SP model u may find of interest in.Great videos man keep them coming!!

      Sounds like a perfect build! Never heard of the manual trim, interesting. My electric trim still works, have not needed to adjust it once I found the sweet spot. Mine is in need of a crankshaft, its sucking oil from the bottom end!

    I just started a build, I’m using a 16 ft bass tracker and I found a seadoo boat with the bigger water jet and a 130 hp 900 series. I’m glad I found your video. I’ve been looking for a video of the install of the drive train and how high in the water column to have the jet. I was concerned about cavitation in choppy water. Your videos answered my questions. Looks like you mounted it even with the bottom of the hull? Plus the 110hp pushes it pretty good. I’m happy with how yours is going, so mine should be similar. Do you have any cavitation issues? Thanks again!

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good luck, sounds like a great combo you have! My engine clears the hull bottom only by about an inch. Cavitation is 99% no problem. Only very certain situations but overall the only time its annoying is on big lakes when its super choppy, but these boats are not designed for that anyway.

    how is the baby spoon doing ? Thats the main thing holding me back from a build. all of the conversion boat i have been suck air so bad with just a little of chop . and any tips with the spoon?

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 ปีที่แล้ว

      The baby spoon does alot better than the bigger one did. The boat only cavitates in tight chop, especially when running with the wind at your back. From my experience, the only way you will get away without cavitation is by going with a deep V. Deep V would run great on big water, but not in the river. This boat is 99% cavitation free except for rough water or chop with wind at your back. I am in the ocean and lakes as much as the river and I just dont see a perfect all around solution, there are 2 types of boats for 2 types of use lol. My advice is go for it but keep it small. 16' is about the cutoff between small and cheap vs big/costly/timely. I would love to know how the rockproof boats do in the conditions I mentioned...

    Does the impeller blade cut stringy stuff and fishing line or is there some other countermeasure for that? I'm not even sure that is a problem for these units. thinking some fixed blades that were in front of the impeller, edge opposite of rotation would be useful. Looks good.

  • @harrytselios4228
    @harrytselios4228 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you ever thought about mounting foam board to the underside of the floor instead of using the noodles? It would free up space on your floor and keep the foam out of the water

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a great idea, although my build doesnt offer much space on the underside of the deck boards it wouldnt really take nearly enough foam. I do though, have the entire bottom of the boat lined in the pink foam boards front to back, plus then the noodles stuffed in all unused spaces gives me extra insurance. We have done it before, hitting a rock and ripping a large enough hole that the bilges cant keep up with it lol. If you build a jet for rocky shallow rivers its deff advised to have enough foam in it that it just simply cannot sink lol. Thanks for watching!

    May I ask why the split down the middle at the front of the spoon? Is that necessary or can it be solid across?

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was to allow it to taper out faster, had to cut it to blend the angle into the hull. I Cut that spoon off the boat completely, dont do a spoon with aluminum its too aggressive. What ive been running for 2 years now is a spoon molded out of plain bondo. very subtle, only sticks out about 1" in height versus that old aluminum one was more like 4" high and was way too much. If your doing an inboard jet, make your spoon with bondo.

      I dont know that lake but I would look for weed/sand flats next to deep water. I would likely look to setup on the drop off during prime time, then at the bottoms of the drops (30ft) after prime times.

    How'd the oil reservoir work out so low compared to the engine?

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not great. I ended up getting an air bubble which overheated the engine. I was able to bleed it while on water and get out of the situation. Although the bubble was due to the type of hose I chose to use, they ended up getting very hardened and then it allowed for air to suck in at one of the connections, not to loss of gravitational feed. I then deleted the oil injection! Id much prefer injection, as it is MUCH better but I didnt want to have to always worry about it!

  • @LostWalletFab

    Did I miss something? What happened to the fabricated spoon?

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I lightly touched on it during the switch in one of the videos. The river was FULL of leaves on a fall day and we couldnt keep the pump cleared so couldnt get up on plane fully, hit a rock and crushed the old spoon. The new spoon was just literally made from bondo, MUCH less aggressive and very thin. Ultimately, the bondo spoon absolutely performs better than the taller metal spoon. IMO the spoons should be made up from bondo, much less work, easier to sculpt and more efficient on the water!

    what engine do you use, I want to make a boat using a jet like you, but I'm not good at it. I'm still watching your videos so I can build a boat like you, because I'm an Indonesian coastal fisherman here, no one has used jet skis, so I want to apply it in the village. if you use diesel, can it be done, please guide, thank you

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My engine is a Seadoo 787. People do these builds with diesel engines, but im not sure what parts and where to buy them.
