Football Stitch Leather Tutorial - Wrap for Single-Action Rifle
just found your channel. very good tips for a newbie like me!! looking to doing some christmas gifts and you have made it easier for me to make them look better. Thank you and best of luck in the future.
Great video!! I truly enjoy watching you craft!! Looking forward to getting some templates from you. Thanks
I just finished doing this (as in like a minute ago). I had the video looping the entire time and it helped keep me focused on task. I tried using gloves, but didn't have the right kind that would give me enough fine movement to effectively navigate the needles through the slits, so I did without. My hands feel it, but no cuts! Most nerve-wracking time was the last bit - it would've sucked to go all the way through and mess up at the end, but I made it through! Looks great and will feel great cycling the lever. Thanks for a great product.
Is this leather stamped dry or did you case the leather?
Very helpful. Thanks for the videos
I’m a novice leather worker and have watched many leather videos, this is one of the best! Short and concise, not filled with extraneous talk. Several very helpful tips, with a clear view of you demonstrating these skills. The finished product is beautiful! Thank you!
Awesome tutorial. Will happily buy from you guys again!
Total awesomeness’s
Nice work! BTW, is that a Phantom ring on your right hand? Because if so, you just got cooler in my book.
My mans wheezing like crazy 😂
If I would choose to purchase the kit, and once removed the lever, could I send it to stitch? If so what would be the cost? Thank you.
That was a real “forehead slap” moment for me. Thanks for making me feel like an idiot! Haha! (Immediately subscribed😉)
Thanks for the tutorial
So you made a cheap copy of an El Paso Saddlery Austin model holster
Gorgeous craftsmanship.
Artisanal artistic expression...congratulations
Super sweet rig 👍👍 Wish the stuff I attempt to make came out that nice
What kinda knife are you using to cut the leather?
Somewhere around 3:29 you are starting out, and after crossing the threads you say,. "And take a needle," appearing to point a needle below the starting point, but then it jumps. At that jump it then shows you have already gone up to the second holes. Never does show where "take a needle" gets you. Or why.
You look like you do decent work. But you should never say. Just don't care anymore when you're referring to your own work makes you look bad.
Noone mentioned the distraction in the video...?!?!?! Dude, good on you. Looks like you found a good'n :)
I agree with @kenporter5022 best basket weave video I've found.
Very nice. Can the pattern work with S&W N frame model 29?
I have trouble with the brass shells turning green in the loops. Has this happened to you, and what is the solution? Thank you, good video.
Make sure your bullet loop leather isnt tanned with Chromium, chromium will react and turn the brass casings blue/green AKA tarnish, theres really nothing that can be done once the loops are formed, some cheaper leathers are chromed tanned first then veg tanned to cut on labor, if youre buying veg that with a soft temper, then its most likely chrome/veg tanned leather unless is milled veg tan. Hope this helps.
Great work.Who made your makers mark?
Well, at long last, I may have learned what "Ghostwood" is ............ I think .... Gavin, I have watched no less than a half dozen videos on Buscadero holsters and drop belts to accompany them, and yours is the 1st one that made sense to me. And I have to say, other than possibly Don Gonzeles, your drop belt has one of the strongest looking construction steps from outset to end, that I have seen in a TH-cam in some time. Keep 'em comin' and I will watch 'em ALL! [Even with the high-volume banjo pickin's in the background!!]
It's a wonderful video.
👍👍
What brand / model is your leather sewing machine?
Very nice I like the tube clamp rather than the wrap around the barrel
Well done 👍 Super clean result 👍 Very clear explanation 👍 Thanks
I really liked this tutorial. Good stuff! Thank you, for sharing!
Now no ones gonna steal your newspapers!
Great job and video.
What's the weight equivalent to 3/16-1/4"? Also I'm checking out veg hide on Amazon because it's convenient and has every other material Im in need of. Should I trust the samples I'm finding on their? So far it looks like what I need. But I'm also considered going to my local leather shop to support them. I'm starting as a hobby building hybrid holsters for myself and family. So it doesn't need folded. I'm using it for the backing surface. I'm considering going all out by using thinner leather to bind to the Kydex I'm using. Thanks in advanced.
Great work…!
The finishing loop is awesome. Thank you.
Can I use this sling on a Henry pump action 22?
Nice job, but the trigger guard leather is superfluous. Its wanted on the lever, for padding forceful manipulation. Anyone operating that lever as intended, as in beating a rented mule, with their finger IN the guard is asking to drive the trigger THROUGH that finger.... no thanks.
Great tutorial. Is it possible to have the shop install the leather if we send the loop? If so, are charges for the work posted on your website please?
A belt clip on style would be awesome. I literally hate having to feed my belt thru loops when it’s NOT NECESSARY
how much

Awesome! Thank you for the support! If you have any questions while crafting/using the pattern, let me know - we're happy to help!
@@HellhoundLeatherCo gonna site In can post a picture of the finale product. Your leather looks good
I feel like that would look even better with yellow/gold stitching to match the brass.
Agreed! We've been meaning to start offering different/interesting color options eventually. Gold is a great idea!
But it does look yellow lol
Hey. Are you making and selling these?
Hi, Sorry for the late reply, but yes, we do craft and sell these on our website : hellhoundleatherco.com/products/autumn-fields-rifle-sling-for-henry-big-boy-classic
Just a note, when I did my leather work in the 60 - 70's for small stuff like you showed on the lever arm. I used to lightly dampen the leather so it moulded and fit a bit tighter and was easer to form.
Absolutely correct - thats a great tip and will help with the fit for sure!
Nice. I have a hard time doing loops. That template looks like a major time saver 👍👍
Getting the spacing right can be tricky for sure. As soon as we were able to cut our own acrylic patterns the bullet loop templates were some of the first things I made - they're a time saver for sure!
Geil echt Klasse Arbeit 👌👍
Vielen Dank!
Magnifique travail, je suis vraiment admiratif, le résultat et superbe. Bravo monsieur !
Merci beaucoup!
Great tutorial and very helpful. Thanks!
Thank you so much - I'm glad you found it useful!
