A/C Hack solved! 02 Ford Explorer 4.6 Full AC System Repair
Hi and welcome to the channel.
In this video we tackle a/c failure in my daughter's 02 Ford Explorer. I take you step by step through the process of removal and replacement of the major components that her truck needed to get her a/c up and running again.
I am not a "Mechanic", I am an average person with an average, at best, budget to make repairs to the vehicles we use daily. I am not in a position to fork out hundreds of dollars to a shop to pay for repairs that half the time aren't even what needed to be fixed.
Hopefully you find something here you can use to get your vehicle up and running again. If you do, please take a second to comment below. I read every single comment and appreciate the time you take to leave one.
Thanks again,
Bobby

Hi everyone, glad you could stop by to check out the video. Today we just may be embarking on a boat project, yes boat. @@yayoinkdab5883 hey bud, thank you for watching! Don’t feel stupid, gotta start somewhere. If you are sitting on the quad looking down at the handle bars, look at the left hand grip. Just on the inside of the grip, going towards the middle of the bike there should be a thumb actuator that goes up and down. Not in and out but up and down. ( I’m assuming your bike is like mine). Now a lot of times the plastic drys out and cracks and the cable will fall down towards the middle of the handle bars. If you don’t see a cable going to the left hand grip, try and locate the cable. If the cable is “loose” or not connected then pulling out or away from the bike should be choke on and pushing towards the bike should be off. It shouldn’t require a lot of force. Be careful, don’t want to break the choke. Hopefully this helps. Keep me posted.

      @flippinnuts1 awesome very much appreciated i couldn't find the answer anywhere on Google Now the only issue with the quad outside of me not finding the choke🤣 I bought it cheap but it's cheap because it seems to be permanently sruck in 4 wheel drive. When pushing and pulling the lever you can see it turning in the front drives haft but regardless it will not disengage 4wd Any ideas what would do that? A fuse or actuator or something simple I hope lol

    • @flippinnuts1
      @flippinnuts1 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@yayoinkdab5883 I believe the fuse for the 4wd is under the seat in the battery compartment. If it’s blown or the ground is corroded it can cause it to stay in 4wd mode, this is the default if there is an issue in the system. I’d start with the fuse and follow the harness and look for corroded wires or connections. Then I’d go to the actuator.

      Thanks for watching. My immediate thought, without seeing the car, is that it sounds like your starter is bad or the starter fuse has blown. Did you try push starting? It could also be a key/ignition issue. If you have a way to bypass the ignition and use a “bump” or button starter connected directly to the starter that may rule out the ignition at least. With the stall and then not being able to restart it definitely sounds like an electrical issue. If you have any other information I’m happy to help. Thanks again for reaching out.

      Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes, mine was out because I was replacing that in another video. But yes, that too was replaced. That was actually what led me to the Coolant Temp Sensor. Even if the MAF is disconnected the car will start, it runs like crap, but it will start. Mine wouldn’t, for a long long long time, lol. After I replaced the CTS she literally starts up right away now. I appreciate you, thanks again. 🙏

    Had the pump in my 2002 explorer with 119,000 replaced and just added Freon it does work but not all that great can the Freon be vacuumed out & saved then add the required oil and reuse the saved freon ?

    • @flippinnuts1
      @flippinnuts1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mark, thank you for checking in, and watching. You absolutely can have your Freon evacuated and then put back in after service to your system. You may be able to go to your local parts house and rent, (borrow), one. But some a/c shops will do it for you too. Harbor Freight sells them too and you know they’ll be on sale, lol. Shouldn’t take you long it’s a pretty simple process. Good luck, thank you again, hope this helps.

    Do you ever have the overflow tank for radiator run almost dry and when you fill to line it disappears?

    • @flippinnuts1
      @flippinnuts1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for checking in, appreciate you watching. Not sure what you’ve checked but it could be a few things. Simple things first, check for cracks in the overflow tank, check the radiator cap, if it’s bad it’ll do that. Check all the hose clamps, make sure they are all tight and look for any signs of leaks on the hoses. Sometimes it’ll be hard to see so run your finger along the bottom side of the clamps to feel for moisture. After that, if it’s using water and your not seeing any obvious leaks you might have a water pump on the way out. If you’re not overheating then your thermostat is probably okay. Good luck, hopefully this helps. Take care.

    why was it loosing all the oil ? i want to change the headgasket on mine

    • @flippinnuts1
      @flippinnuts1 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are pretty notorious for bad valve cover gasket seal. Pretty common for people to “tighten” when they start leaking. At that point they just need to be changed, tightening actually makes it worse. Rubber gasket flattens out. Appreciate you checking in, good luck on the head gasket, good project to take on.

      Hey, thank you for watching and taking a second to ask. I would say that you’ll never learn if you don’t try. If you have an engine hoist and some basic tools then you should be able to handle the job. It’s just time consuming. If you’ve never done a project like yours make sure to be patient and give yourself some grace. I’m hoping to have the third video out soon. It’s been a while but finally getting finished up.
