The supremely great and exquisite Haydn Symphony #44. Haydn went ballistic here. The second movement a.k.a. slow movement (slo-mo) of #44 is what Haydn reportedly instructed be played at his funeral.

Gosh, I'm currently working on the piece, and of all the versions I have listened to, I find this soprano the weakest. She has very little resonance. She's veryy pretty though.

When I was 18, I joined the Royal Choral Society under Sir Malcolm Sargent and this was the first concert I sang in the Royal Albert Hall. Never to be forgotten.

I really liked the voicing and instrumentation on this rendition. Natural sounding soloists--tenor unforced and soprano, fresh, light an lyric--I love that (so much better, to my taste, than heavy dramatic soprano voicing or tenors singing in falsetto voice as is sometimes heard in other renditions but which makes very little musical sense to me). I really appreciated this wonderful recording, as did the live audience--which, from their reaction is bundantly obvious--wow--what exubarance! This recording definitely gives credence to the idea that Bach is "the 5th Evangelist". Well done! Extraordinary! Lovely!

Even though I have my doubts about this performance as a whole (especially movements 4, 5, and 6), I really enjoyed the slower tempo in the 3rd movement. I realized while listening to it I had never really clearly heard those beautiful harmonies between 6:49 and 7:02 before.

It simply doesn't get any better than this. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING 😭😭😭😭😭

This is also the most exciting and inspiring interpretations of the original composition of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 C minor. It is full of life and what a contrast between this rendition and the way it commonly sounds as though it is a funeral dirge. This rendition was very cathartic because when I first heard this 4 years ago I had just lost my wife of 32 years. This was timely.
