They’re great cars. Overlooked these days.
Hard to enjoy the video. Unnecessary bad video quality, bad picture, wind noise, shaky camera.

@ChrisHooperOnCars poor chris, hope you are okay about the criticism, don't beat yourself up over it
It was valid. I’m not losing sleep over it 👍
Part of being a TH-camr and not one of my best efforts. Fair call 👍
I am in Europe and bought mine in March this year. A Premium version with all the "extras" you could get. Black roof, Intense Blue Pearl color, BOSE, LSD, heated seats and all that jazz... It was already after Hyundai stopped accepting new orders for the production. So I got a brand new one that was on stock at one of the local dealerships. 7 months and 13.5 thousand kilometers later I can say it is a fantastic car for the price. I am very happy with it, love to drive it on weekends and I expect (and wish to be honest) that Hyundai will come to regretting killing the N division in Europe so abruptly and will consider reviving it.
Good news for us as owners, though, and the car residuals with the order book being shut.

Good job in your reviews bro 👍
Thank you, sir!

I absolutely adored my Hyundai I30N when I first got it in March 2018. In Performance blue. Stunning. 6 years later and it’s not aged well.
Why do you think that?
Yeah, why has it aged badly?? The behavior of some N owners put you off??
It's still for sale in Australia with an update model due soon. There are a few new cars in stock but most need to be ordered. PB, no extra. Bose standard. On the road in WA $39,430. Mine to that spec 18 months ago was $37,000 on the road in this state discounted. With the current exchange rate AU$37,000 = £19,115 and AU$ 39,430 = £20,370. Keep in mind that we don't get the heated seats or the heated steering wheel[I would love the heated steering wheel!] but we do get a spare wheel.
Thanks for doing the maths👌I really thought the heated steering wheel was an unnecessary luxury but tried it for the first time now it’s getting chilly. Bliss 😊
I'm about to buy one, depending on the wait time...
Don't expect much for £25,000? The price of cars fitted with all the unecessary gadgets is obscene. I'll stick with the Morris.
Yup! They are very pricy these days. Sometimes simple is best. Mind you I’ve currently got Britain’s cheapest car at £14k on loan and it shows you get what you pay for.

If you leave it on your driveway for six days ,not being used ,come back from holiday it requires a jump start.owners don't know this cos of daily use. Heath check results are normal, just don't go on holiday.
I didn’t have that issue this summer but have seen it on owner forums too. The thing where it constantly unlocks/locks the doors when it senses your presence can’t be good for battery life.
@@ChrisHooperOnCars my conclusion is, battery holding charge is limited.given time this will be changed at some point.the car itself is a riot ,lot of fun,pot holes don't help tho.happy motoring.
Nonsense, I drive it only on weekends and no issues with starting up.
Are you satisfied with your purchase of the i20n ?
Absolutely! Is it perfect in every way? Absolutely not (but no car is "eveything to all people"). Fortunately, it gets all the important driving related stuff right and puts a grin on your face every journey
Yes. For the money there’s not much else to touch it in terms of fun and equipment.
I bought my PB i20N in April '24. No Black Roof or Bose for me. I agree that it's a fantastic little car. I wasn't intending to buy so soon but the announcement of it's discontinutation 'forced my hand' to some degree. My local Dealer suddenly had two examples on their forecourt and, after a couple of test drives, it was a 'done deal'. The i20N was the closest thing I could find with similar driving feel to my MK.1 Suzuki Swift Sport. It is significantly quicker and and more ecconomical too. The 5-Door layout is much more practical and rear space is infinitely better. The i20N is far more refined at Motorway speeds/capable as a long distance tourer. The suspension on the Swift was probably better on poorly surfaced roads - the i20N can be a bit crashy and bottoms out occasionally. The benefit though is the car corners with almost no roll and changes direction instantly. The LSD produces prodigious grip through/out of corners. It is 'laugh out loud' fantastic. Overtaking on the outside of roundabouts is almost becoming second nature. I tend to drive mostly in Eco and find this gives a better mid-range torque response. I'm not too interested in the pops and bangs from the exhaust in N Mode, so use Custom 1 with the Exhaust set to normal. I haven't made any really long journeys yet but I've seen a claimed 47 MPG for a few trips. Doing really short local trips (less than a couple of miles) and not allowing the engine to reach operating temperature registers sub-20 MPG. The trip computer is typically 2 MPG optimistic for journeys/average between refills. My calculated average is approx. 33 MPG. My only minor gripe with the i20N is all the overly sensitive electronic 'safety aids' (or often just plain wrong in the case of the speed limit recognition) that need to be disabled at the start of each drive. It's a shame these cannot be permanently disabled in one of the Custom Modes. Each journey therefore requires a bit of a 'pre-flight check'. I anticipate keeping my i20N for a long time. There just isn't anything similar available now. It's equally happy doing a school/shopping run as it is being a part time van carrying loads or tearing down some country lanes/round a track. It really is a shame that Hyundai axed the N ICE range in favour of the global EV agenda. Whilst the Ioniq 5N is a considerable achievement, I don't want such a big heavy car - nor to have to pay £65K to own one.
You should do a long term review yourself! I agree with your comments-that collision alert system at the front is blooming annoying!
Couple of corrections. It defaults to Normal, not N mode at start. And the screen is 10 inch. Should have talked about the red rev match button too!
Cool Video, thank you!! I was thinking about getting one. Can you activate it without the start button - i.e. just press the brake and drive? or do you have to turn the switch? 😅I'm a bit spoiled by my friend's Tesla where I can just enter the car and drive... 🤣
Thanks. You need to flick the ignition switch on before you drive it😊👍
We have one. I like the sports setting and then have the B setting for regen.. It makes a sound like something off star wars and yes I'm a big kid
I hate the led dinner plate.
The lights?
buy one so you know!!! lol
Looks good but equally expensive in Australia as it is in the UK. The one pedal driving and regen breaking does take a while to get used to …. not sure when we last used the break in anger but once it does become second sense, we have come to really like it.
Sure I would get accustomed to it. Hope you are enjoying the Tesla!
@@ChrisHooperOnCars - certainly getting used to it. Getting 480km, so about 300 miles, and paying the equivalent of 4p per KWH helps! Very smooth experience with the odd bit of startling acceleration as needed.
Cool
Thanks. You win the prize for the first comment 🥇🏆
I'm in Canada and own a turbo, it's absolutely a rocket compared to most economic cars, my wife and I love it. Fuel mileage is absolutely terrible if you're always into boost, but if you tred lightly on the pedal it gets ok mileage
Love Canada. Lived in Vancouver 25 years ago 😊
Best looking compact suv out there. Hatch is a looker too, but the most handsome of the three is the saloon, which very few people in the UK buy. Yet it solves the rear seat claustrophobia George was alluding to. It increases luggage capacity and interior space. It's 20 cm longer than the hatch. Great review
Thank you. Uk never took to the saloon, which they’ve now dropped. Prefer the hatch but it’s a shame there’s no demand for saloons these days.
@@ChrisHooperOnCars The saloon has not been dropped. The 2025 UK saloon can be ordered in Exclusive line trim, manual or automatic. All other trims have been dropped however. This is a shame as Takumi top trim had leather, 360 camera, front cross traffic alert and a few other goodies.
Arguably one of the most beautiful cars on UK roads. I'm seriously thinking of changing my 70 plate Qashqai for one. How's that long and low front overhang when it comes to speed humps and driveway inclines? Looks prone to grounding, or am I wrong? Finally was there any rattles in the cabin? As I've read a fair bit about interior rattles. Regarding the chrome window surround, I like it a lot. It enhances the shallow windows, adding to a sporty look.
No problems at all with the front and rear overhangs and the interior is very sturdy and well finished. Would recommend as a change from your 70 plate Quashqai👍Sorry for late reply. Been on summer hols.

What’s the difference between performance pack and regular
245 ps v 230, upgraded brakes and the all important front LSD.
@@ChrisHooperOnCars my GTI has the GtI emblem with red letters and GtI on the brake calipers. Does that mean I have the performance pack
I don't understand why they didnt bring the 2.5 turbo to the uk/eu? I think it would have been a really popular hot hatch and even more understated than the venerable golf gti/r,
I couldn’t agree more! Opportunity missed. It was a Europe wide decision to offer no turbos on Mazda petrol engines for emissions reasons.
have you driven the mk8?
Yes. Have now. Liked it, they set it up really well. Even came up with a manual box. But the infotainment screen was maddening, so now it’s 8.5 new gen.
Skyactiv X 2.0l 180hp, newer 186hp are not a naturally aspirated engines. These have belt driven very low pressure supercharger to make sure engine gets enough air to keep air fuel ratio bit lean, even at high engine rpms. Skyactiv-G 2.0l is the naturally aspirated engine with 120hp, 122hp(mild hybrid), 150hp(mild hybrid), 155hp, 165hp versions.
So why do Mazda make no mention of a supercharger? I’m not doubting you but? www.mazda.co.uk/why-mazda/skyactiv-x/
@@ChrisHooperOnCarsYou failed to read your source properly. Scroll the page down to the question: is the e-Skyactiv x turbocharged? ''Right there is your answer. No, but there is a small supercharger which helps to pressurise the air in the engine when running in SPCCI mode. No turbo means there’s no lag, just an intuitive surge of power all the way to the red line.'' If your own source is not enough for you, look for video in youtube. ''Mazda SkyActiv-X: How does the SPCCI engine work & what else changes in SKY ACTIV X w/ Dave Coleman''.
I’ve just ordered a Mazda 3 Takumi Skyactiv X in Polymetal Grey. I’ve been an Alfa Romeo driver for over 26 years but the prices for a decent spec are now far too high for me. I still wanted a good looking car and the Mazda is very good looking, the sort of car Alfa should have produced to replace the Giulietta. The interior is up market and the Takumi needs very few options added. My Alfa, apart from service items has in 9 years only required a replacement oil filler cap, I hope the Mazda is as reliable
Good choice! Mazda offer the Alfa virtues of being great looking, different, driver focused but without the historic reliability and depreciation woes. I’d have a Giulia in a heartbeat though!
Why do a whole video about a range rover ev and not talk at all about your ev driving. This was pointless.
Thanks for your comments. I agree. Should’ve explained the EV only range more.
Is this car very heavy on petrol?
Depending on how you drive it, as ever. 45-50 mpg in my experience.
Ive owned about 100 cars since 1970 and I say the Golf GTI I put in the top.
Which is your favourite generation?
For something a bit different, I've just bought the 3 saloon 2.0 e-Skyactiv-X in GT Sport trim! Has your car proven reliable so far?
Not my car. Just borrowed it from my local Mazda dealer. 4 door saloon. Interesting choice. You lose the concept car coupe looks. They have a good reputation for reliability👍
Sorry I missed that bit! I do agree with your remarks about the engine. Decent outright performance, not especially flexible. Mine has a small spoiler on the back to lift the otherwise "boxy" rear. On the motorway, 55-60 mpg seems easily achievable driven at the speed limit@@ChrisHooperOnCars
Seats just look cool! You basically get a sporty, sharp looking car for (relatively) cheap. I got the FR version in red a few months ago and I admire the aesthetics every time I see it. I've noticed it gets quite a bit of attention from the ladies as well.
Yes, they’re very sharply styled and the design is aging well. No woman has given me a second look in mine though🤣
