72hour Overworld Design Contest Entry
Edit: I got 1st!!!
My entry for the first 72 hour Overworld Design Contest. The theme of this contest was "Familiar Journey". You had to pick one of SMW's 6 submaps, and create a new map without changing or deleting any of the pre-existing paths. Level dots were allowed to be changed. I chose the Vanilla Dome map. As you can see I am once again making heavy use of ASM and custom overworld sprites. The whole map was drawn in Aseprite, aswell as the giant bowser statue, who's head is a massive custom sprite. Safe to say I went pretty hard on this entry. Maybe a bit too hard. If I hadn't pulled an all-nighter, I wouldn't have been able to finish this map.

Edit: I got 3rd! My entry for the 3rd old-school level design contest on smwcentral, where you have to make a 100% vanilla level, unlike in vldc, where you can mix graphics, use custom music and palettes etc. Kaizo levels were allowed in this contest. All of these worlds look delightful, but the progression of World 4 honestly makes it my favorite!
Some of those Gigaleak Mario sprites really do look like the fake "laser mario" thing... ... could the hoax uploader actually have an uncle who worked at Nintendo? lol

Wow, this hack looks really great so far! I like all of the colours in it, and lots of parts about this game feel like another game almost, that someone could think that it's not in the SMW engine. Can't wait to play it!

I own return to dinosaur land and there’s a level towards end of game with the spot light and you can have Toshiba in that level and his tongue glitches cause it’s not meant to be with that spotlight
