Unboxing Brand new Technics SL-1200MK3D(K) Never taken out of box turntable.
มุมมอง 1.8Kหลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I open a never taken out of box, brand new, Technics SL-1200MK3DK turntable. I bought it from Ireland. The box had been previously opened as I instructed the guy to open it so he can send me a video that I needed as proof that the deck was brand new. The last K in MK3DK stands for black as this Japanese model isn't called the 1210.
Does the Technics SL 1210MK2 have a tighter pitch than the MK7, plus pitch accuracy test

In this video I test the Technics SL-1210MK2 and MK7 to see which has the most pitch accuracy coinciding witth the platter strobe dots. I also test which deck has the tighter pitch by measuring how much I have to move the pitch control to get the sligtest movement change on the platter in a couple of different positions, -3.3, 3.3 and zero. I play the same tune at the highest speed 8% to see if any drifting will occur for the whole length as you would expect it to with the increment differences. Exactly the same drive motor system as my 40+ year old 1600 MK2 Fully Auto deck. Love mine. Was lucky I found it a couple of years ago, from a single owner, smoke free home for $400. Works perfectly! Sounds great with my AT Microline cart on it. I am not sure why these new decks are so expensive. They really haven't changed much of anything but the model numbers.
Keep the music coming super mixing

Wow what camcorder were you using?
Sony FDR AX53. I have a car vlogging channel, Horsepower Addiction, as well as this channel so use that camera for both.
Yeah boy
Thanks again for the support!
I didn't see any reason it wouldn't work. I have a Miracord 45 that's 52 years old and still working.
Hi any of these for sale? Just wondering!!
No buddy. I just bought them however send this guy a message, as I bought off him and is trustworthy as he still has a couple of beauties for sale. facebook.com/Rutkose?mibextid=ZbWKwL
Bkn bro😊pone la cámara en un pedestal y te saldrá más fácil y bkn tu amboxing TECHNICK,yo nunca voy a poder tener una,soy una persona muy pobre, felicitaciones y bendiciones 🎉❤
I had a pair of M3D 1210, and I personally think they were the best turntables of all the 1200 range. Just as solid as the Mk2, but without the annoying centre dent on the pitch slider. I bought a brand new pair of 1200 Mk5 and I didn't think they were quite as solidly built.
I agree. My MK2 and the 3D feel identical everywhere except for the centre dent on the pitch. Never used an MK5. Anything old is better build quality than the newer stuff from my experience.
MK2/M3D/MK5/MK6 all of those models are tanks. built to last in japan. the new MK7 models are plastic junk. if i was gonna buy a new pair it would be 1200GR or GR2 and i’d replace the feet with MK2 feet. those are actually solid compared to the MK7 decks.
thanks kosta
Wow it’s all gone a bit Pete tong. 😛
Been mixing on vinyl since the early eighties and it happens sometimes when doing live mixes. I don't edit and fix any muck ups so as it shows it's a real vinyl mix and not dubbed. When you are present at a vinyl gig, you hear mixes straying even from the big name DJ's but it shows that they are really mixing and it's not pre recorded. And you hear and see how it gets corrected. Perfect mixes on TH-cam will almost always be pre recorded.
Sir, is it Malaysia made ?
Only the MK7'S and new Technics turntables are made in Malaysia. This is a 2000 model MK3D but never used since the year 2000. It's made in Japan.
No. It's made in Japan. New current model Technics are made in Malaysia now.
made in malaysia and the base is completely plastic 😂
Sir, is Japanese Technics Turntable manufacturing stop at present time ??
After 25 years it'll need recapping... If u don't the sound will be off
So next year then. It's 24 at the moment.
I just took my 45 year old Mark II out of storage….. it’s working great.
Good to know they still go strong after so many years. Enjoy!😎
had no doubt it would work straight away. 1200s of old are tanks. my pair of MK2s were made in 2003 and are still rock solid and hold a beat perfectly. never getting rid of them.
Maybe you should zero the subwaight without the stylus protector on
If you have a look carefully, I remove the protector before I begin the balancing process.
And it's weight!
what is made in china or made in japan tnx chucky winnipeg manitoba canada
Japan. This was specific for the Japanese market which is why there is only voltage for100V on the unit to suit their electricity voltage. I bought a transformer to use it.
Why wouldn't it work. They are built never to go down I was using them in the 80s
The target lights do fail. I've had to replace the one on mine (bought around 1998) with an LED and it's a pain because it's not designed to be replaced.
It was SL1200MK2. The next generations were more plasticky, but still made in Japan. The new ones made in Malaysia will hardly survive 5 years of hard use in clubs.
@@peterregorsek1504 Is that why the target light pops up fast on my mk2 being more solid and slow on the mk3d being plastic? Or is it because the mk3d is new? I'm away this week so can't check if my mk3d one is plastic.
@@Toskas Cannot say abot these things. But "made in Japan" can never be replaced by "made in somewehere else". Even it is a 100% japanese owned factory with high standards of quality control. I see that with turntables, cartridges, styluses, etc. Even if I order cheaper japanese stylus, not Jico, it is better made like the one that comes from Swiss, for the same money.
As opposed to *use/abuse,* this phenomenon is technically called *disuse.* i.e., usually due to the degrading of key electronic components from *not having* been powered up for extremely long periods of time. Typical is the spoiling of the electrolytes in capacitors (akin to the chemicals in a battery) which can happen faster when all of residual charge has drained away completely. So it is better to use such devices occasionally in order to ensure *really long life* ...
The target light is broken... 😂
At that moment my heart sank. Then I saw the power was off. 🤣🤣🤣 Relieved is an understatement!🤣
@@Toskas My favourite part of the video, click, click, click haha
Spin the wheel
How are the silvers do they feel like the original mk2s? Or are they like the 1210mk7?
All the silver 1200 models, mk7 models came out after the black 1210 and none have a problem with the pitch. The pitch is accurate. The pitch on the MK2 is tighter. Less movement of the pitch is needed to get a speed change on the platter. As for the platter you can get it to feel like the mk2 or lighter or even heavier as you have four different torque settings to choose from. So when DJing, you can feel the platter either similar, lighter or heavier depending on your settings than the MK2. With the pitch you can feel a slight difference as you need to move it probably a millimetre more than the 2 to get speed change. The 7 is lighter than the 2 by around 4kg but you don't feel this when DJing.
Cheers, didn’t see your reply. I brought a pair sending back warped unfortunately badly platters.
@@trancevoyagesessions sometimes the platter looks warped because the machining of the dots is crooked. But if you look at the top and bottom silver parts of the platter as it's turning you can see it is straight. My MK2 and MK3D are the same. We thought the quality control of the old decks was spot on but it isn't. I'll do a video showing the crooked dots on the MK2 and MK3D.
Now I’m damn sure George street was named after you

Were did you get the needle for the mk7 ??
Manny's, (Store DJ), in Alexandria, Sydney. Same place I bought the MK7'S from.
Stick that warped one in airing cupboard in between 2 lots of yellow pages will take the warp out. I've got 2 1200s. They were built in 1997. I bought them second hand in 2004... 2 decks in flight cases, a vestax mixer, and 100 records £450 they're in mint condition ive replaced all the cables had them serviced regularly. Love um. Lost 2 pairs of 1210s up my nose before i got them. 😂 them days have gone thank fxxk
You should’ve put them side-by-side. This jumping around made me nauseous.
I love my MK7's, solid units, no issues and keep their time/pitch etc locked in better any other turntable I've used. For the doubters and MK7 haters there's plenty of Vinyl Mixes on my channel using the MK7's which barely miss a beat (shameless plug 😂)... but for anyone contemplating a brand new pair of MK7's I say go for it. Great units 👍

Been looking at the Mk7 for a while now. I had Mk2’s back in the day and can’t find a decent set that hasn’t been battered second hand. The thing that put me off the Mk7 was the digital pitch and also the issue with the dead zones on the pitch. Hopefully this has been sorted now.
The dead zones are fixed. It's very easy to mix on the mk7's. Even easier than the cdj3000s. The CDJ'S drift more and need correction more often I find. As for the MK2's and all the old range, I agree it's very hard to find a decent one. They are all advertised as mint yet when you see them they make you sick.
@@Toskas Seems like the Mk7 isn’t as bad as I first thought. That Mk2 you have looks mint. The ones I’ve been to see are either Frankendecks that have been painted etc, or look like they’ve been dug up. The young DJ’s are warping their tracks to use on CDJ’s, so they are all locked and no need for adjustment. At that point it’s pretty much doing it for you.
@@harshhell4185 yes. That one MK2 I have is super mint. Never been opened or tampered with. I was very lucky to find it. It was originally owned by a DJ who had it as a spare boxed up and he hardly used it. I paid extra for it but I'm willing to pay extra for quality decks. Im looking for another one but I can't find one. There is a lot of crap out there. Agree that the CDJ'S can do it all for you. But mixing the old school way, without electronic help, they drift. And you will find that one tune is 124.3 bpms and another is 124.8 bpms. The increments don't allow you to have both at 124.8 on many occasions. The tune you bring in can only be adjusted to say 124.6 or it jumps to 125 with the slightest pitch movement. You can't get it to 124.8 so it will always drift and you need to keep correcting it with the platters. With true vinyl, house, trance, I find it easier to keep the tunes synced with the mk7's. It's like the adjustment increments are better.
@@Toskas I know what you mean with the CDJ’s especially. I bought the 2000 Nexus when they first came out and found I had to keep moving them with the pitch up a little or down a little then back to the original setting, I don’t like using the platter because it can be more noticeable at times. Don’t get me wrong the CDj’s have some great features but the digital pitch isn’t one of them. You were very lucky indeed to find that one Mk2. I look forward to future videos mate. Subbed👍
@@harshhell4185 thanks buddy! I appreciate it!
Proper DJ. Nice to see someone mixing vinyl. Great tune selection👍
Thanks buddy. I hope this gives you an idea of how it is to mix on the 7's.
Love the little experiment you did there with those 2 records man, great comparison. The record on the 1200mk7 is proper bent up, so if there was a massive difference i'd put it down to that ha. Have My 1210s mk2s about 28 years, absolute beasts they are. If you enjoy the Underground Dance Music Scene, Jump In Check Out The Channel.
I have two videos after this one with experiments too. Even though the record was bent they kept in beat. I never touched the platter or the pitch control. I will definately check out your channel. Cheers!
@@Toskas oh shit sorry man I was sure I replied to you,but I may not have. I'll check out all your uploads man and a drop a comment on them as I go through each video.
MK7 has adjustable torque settings in the motor and i think it speeds up a little bit faster than MK2 with maximum setting
You are correct!
NO drifting, all good and why not there technics. They are the true superior in direct drive turntables….
Absolutely 🙌
These are great tests, thank you. I have a pair of 1200s I got new on my 21st birthday in 1993. I'm considering adding two of these MK7s, so this is very cool to see. Cheers!
Glad these tests are of help to you. Thanks for the support!
