I remember watching these educational programmes while I was on a full time Pre Engineering college course in 1973 and 1974.

I advise all youngsters I meet who are considering their future career to NOT even consider working in engineering, the most thankless future awaits them should they choose to ignore my advice

That film was from early 80s. By that time Japanese and German companies were mass producing CNC mills and lathes. No need to wonder why British industry faltered.

Been running CNC Turret lathes for almost 10 years now, but THIS was amazing to watch. Damn they were brilliant back in the day, paving the future for us kiddo's.

I used to watch this on Sunday Mornings on RTE.

Fantastic - I’ve binge watched the whole series. Takes me back to the EITB course and my apprenticeship in the machine tool industry (Watford college and Lapointe Broach also in Watford) in the mid 1970s. These videos convey their subject matter beautifully, with a great balance of practical demonstrations, simple theory which is nicely developed, with no prior knowledge assumed, efficiently explained with good diction, effective diagrams and visual aids. Excellent, no nonsense, fit for purpose, technical education. I’m so happy you have managed to obtain and curate these short films here on TH-cam. My heartfelt thanks.

That brought back memories from over 50 years ago, happy days on c/lathes , Herbert 9C then Warner and Swazy and Mazak CNC machines. I could even smell the compo !

The person performing the oxyacetylene, MMA, brazing, and bronze welding etc is Roy Sandy, he was my welding instructor in the 1980's and i remember those welding bays with very fond memories, where i was taught great skills, very sadly the college was demolished for a housing project.
