Good trick I always use in 11 Mile is a small Stimulator like size 12 I tie them with CDC wing so they float well and then use a size 18 or so dropper nymph pheasant tail mostly on about 2 to 3 foot

I feel ya, it took me a while there but it all came down to me using to big of flies, so for areas, I go right past the little store area in deckers and go about half a mile or so past it down river and just park on those little side road parking areas, I would try using smaller flies about size 22 or so and using a little bit thinner tippet like 6x, that’s what helped me there, I know others would probably have better advice but I think that would be a solid start, I haven’t been there since this video but plan on going one of these days because I know this time of year can change many things. Good stuff dude, hooked up a few nice ones! Just a heads up man, you handle the fish alott, I see your trying to do the right thing but get your hands wet before u grab em and keep it to a minimum. Fish need that film on them and if you rubbing all over em and grabbing w dry hands it can cause issues for the fish. As you get better your handle time and technique will get better as well. @@onthelineoutdoors6974 I’ll have to do that. I’m wanting to do the same (hiking into somewhere) I know a good trail in the mountains but it’s a decent drive to get there. I’ll keep you posted!

Great video man. I went out for my first time today. Spent a few hours on eleven mile canyon. Didn’t catch shit, but still had a blast learning. 🤘🏻

Appreciate it! Honestly it took me a long time to learn, I would have people around me catching stuff and I would get skunked, try this, I use 9ft 6x leader with 6x tippet, I tie a size 16-18 fly and then about a foot off from that I tie a size 22-24, I like to use to flies just to increase odds, I put a small weight about 6 inches above that top/bigger fly and my stroke indicator about 3 feet above that, (goal is to get a natural drift so I put on a small weight to help with speed) I’m not a pro by all means but ever since I started using this set-up, I been actually catching fish everywhere I go, might do a video on just a basic set-up and what I use that helps me, hope this helped and let me know how your next trip goes 💪

@@onthelineoutdoors6974 Thanks for the tip. I will give it a shot the next time I go. I just got some property about 15 minutes from 11 mile canyon, so I will be hitting that section of the South Platte river often.
