Old console minecraft is just so much better than modern day bedrock. The old textures, short view distance, simplicity just had a vibe that was unmatchable.

I will never understand why PC gamers complain about Bedrock edition… I play bedrock edition on an Xbox series x, I’ve played xbox edition, nintendo switch edition, and pocket edition, and Java on my Mac, and I want to play Java, everyone knows Java is the best, however I don’t have a PC, so I like that bedrock tries to be similar or close to Java, when I’m playing it doesn’t feel like it’s that much different, there’s a heap of different game features, but ultimately it feels like ‘Minecraft’, but when I played on console versions such as xbox edition or switch edition, it very much felt like it’s own thing, which cool I get that a lot of you PC gamers grew up playing those versions and have nostalgia and all that, but you already have the best version, Bedrock is for console to give them the experience console players want (which a lot of the time is to have something close to/like PC) not to give PC players that want to hop on the console once a year the experience they miss. Unless Java somehow comes to console, then I think Bedrock should not revert to being some completely separate stand alone console style version.

i think it's also impressive how the old console versions still managed to match java quite well in places where it did matter like redstone for example redstone on bedrock is so annoyingly different than java. so many of the more technical bits have been shaved off. quirks like pistons releasing their blocks when powered quickly, or quasai connectivity where pistons think they're 2 blocks tall like doors just don't exist on bedrock, making certain machines either much larger, slower, or impossible but 4j actually took the time to force a lot of those quirks, so often times a machine built in java would still function on console, unless it was one of those incredibly technical machines that opens a door 1 minute before you even press the button when consoles were forced over to bedrock i was genuinely devastated when i went into my own redstone world and most of my machines didn't work anymore, flying machines jittered back and forth because they couldn't spit their leading half forward, piston doors i had reliably down to memory stopped working ,i actually remember tearing up a little when i learned that jeb doors didn't work. and even things like simple staircases popping out of walls and floors got messed up because of different redstone parts on bedrock changing to only check if they need to do something every other tick but some read even number ticks while others only looked at odd number ticks, so they can just miss each other completely if a redstone pulse isn't slowed down and it's such a shame that bedrock redstone is so limited because it has a good amount of it's own quirks that'd be incredible, like waterlogged redstone or moving containers with pistons but instead, building redstone in bedrock feels like it's just the tutorial for redstone before the curtain drops to reveal the complex stuff that allows things to really go wild, except the curtain drop never comes

4J Deserved to own Minecraft more than Microsoft 😢

This is the year i first really understood the fact that bedrock is literally just an updated pocket edition. I've nearly always played java, so i've never really had to contend with that fact, but now that i do know it, it has just made me unable to see bedrock in the same way again. All of the issues in bedrock make so much more sense and makes me a bit frustrated about the better together update. I _used to think_ it was a good update that it would make it so more people could play together, but apparently all it's really done is lower the quality of everyone except java players' games to the level of pocket edition.

So beautifully put in such a short video, thank you for expressing something I too have noticed but never been able to fully articulate myself.

Bedrock edition is a joke. I get being able to play on all devices, but they refuse to do anything that won't work on a 2012 phone. The funny part is in 2012 it was POCKET EDITION, which was even better than bedrock...

The pixelated 4J, mojang and Xbox live logos are just pure nostalgic Just booting up the game and the first thing you see are those logos, didn’t mean anything back then but how it hits different

I completely agree with the aesthetic part. I own both Java and Bedrock but the UI of bedrock is so much worse (essentially they just ported the mobile UI onto pc). I used to have the Xbox 360 version and it was very well stylised and so iconic that I get nostalgic just seeing it. Not to mention the input lag on bedrock and how everything you do feels 'delayed'.

there are actually some very good things that bedrock has that java doesnt. for example im able to run bedrock edition pretty smoothly with a render distance so high i can see the outer end islands from the main island (96 chunks). also its so much easier to play with your friends, and you can play cross platform, which was the main goal of bedrock edition.

One must imagine people understanding that Microsoft is the reason of all problems...

The point is people like me who have access to all three versions of Minecraft will look at Java and see a fun playable game, look at legacy console and see a nostalgic enjoyable game and look at bedrock and get no enjoyment out of playing it. When given the choice NO ONES gonna pick a game that looks and preforms awfully over two loved versions. Legacy console will always have a place in my heart cos its what I grew up with. Legacy console is the first look at Minecraft i got, Java is what I grew up watching all my favorite TH-camrs play and bedrocks a newer version that no one likes that just invited itself to the community

Bedrock edition cannot compete with java or console edition minecraft

Minecraft Pocket Edition and Bedrock Edition was my childhood. You saying it sucks, I don't like it. Never played Xbox 360, and Bedrock was nostalgic for me. I don't say XBox 360 edition sucks but come on man. But yeah sure I'm just gonna say sorry for Bedrock over talking XBox 360 Edition.

In my opinion, Java edition is the best Minecraft edition of all time. But Legacy is a very close second.

As a PlayStation user, the best thing about the better together update was being able to move worlds from your PlayStation 4 to PC, and with the option to transfer PS3 worlds to PS4, i was able to move some of the worlds i have stored from back when i was a kid and archive it to my pc, forever available for me just go back and re-experience childhood memories. Yea, it feels different, but still a good way to preserve memories.

I personally prefer Bedrock Edition

ngl I always loved Story Mode, I think if it didn't release at the turning point of Minecraft's reputation it would've been held in a higher regard.

I remember in 2017 how dejected me and the rest of console edition community were about the switch to Bedrock. The console editions were so good, ran well (in the later years at least) and still look amazing to this day. Bedrock will never cut it and while I love Java, I'll always miss booting up Xbox One edition and inviting a few friends to play the battle minigame. I kept playing console until 2021 but I still wish they continued to update it.

Am I the only one who remembers their being chocolate milk in Minecraft it was in the older versions but then it got removed slowly and I never realized it but I just remembered it now?

I missed Customizable Superflats. Or I should say EASILY customizable superflats. You CAN still customize them in Java, at least, but it was more intuitive in Console and older versions of Java.

I know of only a few bedrock glitches that make the game totally unplayable, but there is only one glitch in Console Edition that doesn't totally ruin the game. If you try to write a book, your game will just crash, or maybe that's just me.

I think the fact that all the modern Minecraft versions are all the same. Back in the day thanks to version exclusive features. There was actually a reason to own multiple copys on multiple platforms. It made the game more exciting.

The whole reason that Microsoft made Bedrock; the very same reason that kept us console players playing month after month _was_ the delayed updates. As a kid, the playground chatter was always the new minecraft update. And I would've kept playing Console edition with those same friends and no updates for years if Microsoft didn't kill it. My xbox live presence died when PS4 was given cross play on Bedrock, because for me there was no reason to play on a Console anymore, and Bedrock was no replacement for that. My heart will always stay with Console Edition. #bringbackconsoleedition

I never forgot custom superflat, it was my favorite thing to do back then.

While I did like the console editions. Only thing Java does better at this point is mods & only really mods. Performance wise bedrock is king & the bugs? What bugs? Seriously I don't ever run into anything bad. Saturation? There's a thing called resource packs. You're looking at Java with rose colored glasses bud. It handles worse then Bedrock, loads slower & you need mods to smooth things out. If I were a betting man Bedrock will probably eventually replace Java.

Bedrock is the spoiled younger sibling. I absolutely love Java and Console, i to this still emulate xbox360 Minecraft.

I really want a texture pack that mimics the feel of console. There was something about the way the game looked that was just better somehow. I miss it.

Bedrock and Java are essentially the same game today. In fact, most people don't even play the normal Java edition, most people download a modified version called Optifine to make Java edition playable. Stop with this Java fanboying nonsense and grow up. Bedrock is a better optimized version of the same game with more compatibility between platforms and much more support.

Console feels like it was made by people who loved the game, and understood it. Bedrock feels like a cooperate cash grab. And Java is an in between
