Hey. Congratulations!✨ I truly enjoy medical. They have so many opportunities to grow and develop skills and it transfers well on the outside. As far as any tips for Tech School, we do have one of the harder technical trainings because of all the medical knowledge we have to learn in such short time. So my advice would be to just actually take notes in class, and study. Give yourself a rest day but after lecture, go somewhere without distractions and study that material and try to comprehend it. I watched youtube videos of medics and nurses breaking it down in a more simple version. You will be fine though. I love medical now. My degree is in Sociology and now I’m thinking about Nursing School or PA School. ✨. Any more specific questions, ask here or on my IG🫶🏽

Although we all trained at the same facility, The Army rules will be different from Air Force. We had to phase up before we could leave and that takes about a month, or less depending on how quickly you get your checklist done. For instance, we needed to pass a full service uniform inspection, 2 room inspections, attend 5 airmen core classes (they has these all week so it was easy to attend), as well as a few other task. The faster you get your checklist done, the faster you can leave base.

I wouldn’t say it’s easy nor hard. The first step with all branches is talking to a recruiter and expressing your goals and interest. Fortunately to become a cook, that’s one of the jobs that don’t require a high ASVAB score. I “think” you just need a 24 total. Place that as your number 1 choice on job sheet when you have to list the 10. However, always be open to other jobs. Services have several different sections (kitchen cook, kitchen server, gym, hotel assistant) so make sure you do some research because if you get Services, it’s no guarantee that you’ll be a cook. What do you like to do?

Yessssss. I lost a lot of weight. Everyone did! If someone goes to BMT and doesn’t lose weight, then they either not trying or might have a medical condition. But yesss honey. I’m so mad at myself for not sticking to the plan because it’s so true that once we get out, we gain it right back. I recommend that when you go, they have the foods labeled with green(healthy), yellow(moderately healthy) and red(not healthy). Stick to the green for every meal. We worked out every dat except Sundays plus we were drinking tons of water. You’ll most definitely be snatched when you get out lol! Just keep going when you’re out and on your own. ❤️

Phase 2 is our “hands on” training. Basically working in the field at one of the base hospitals for about 2 months before we officially graduate.

Most definitely! Hours wise, Working in the medical field is 50/50 because we can either work at a base with a hospital or a base with just clinics. If you work at a base with a hospital, the experience will be GREAT, but you’ll more than likely be working panama. If you work at a base with just clinics, then it’s 7:30-4:30 (daycare on base opens at 6:30-5:45pm) but working in the clinics is so repetitive. I enjoy it but whew, kinda get bored at times. I think for less stress and because I’m a mom I prefer the clinic life. I’ll most definitely get a day in the life video out and be detailed so you can see. If you want, Add me on snap. And the more I’m here snd learn about other jobs, it’s other jobs other than medical that’s like 9-5ish.

Hey. I’m Active and no, they don’t provide you with housing unless your Tech School is a year or more long. I was able to see my son because he was in Tx and fortunately the first part of my Tech School wasn’t too far from him.

Hey. No, they didn’t. I think they do do this though if your Tech School is a year+ long. Fortunately, My Tech school was in Texas and my son’s Dad lives in Dallas which was about 2-3 hours away from me. So whenever he could, we worked things out so I can see him. The first time, his dad and family came down and they all stayed in an Air BNB. We have curfews at Fort Sam. They allow weekend passes(where you can stay off base for the weekend) but I submitted my paperwork late. So I woke up that weekend as soon as curfew was over to go be with him and I dropped him off just in time for me to make it back to the dorms for curfew. The second time, my mom and family came to visit me. They scooped him up from Dallas on the way there, BUT I was able to get a weekend pass that time and I stayed off base with them.

I didn’t workout that much before I left, and trust me, it showed when I went. I at least tried to get comfortable with doing the PT requirements but my diet was horrible too. I didn’t start working out until a month or so before it was time to ship out and I didn’t prepare myself enough. I recommend getting comfortable with running that 1.5 mile for sure and do strength exercises for your core, back, chest and arms. Anything helps. If you’re thinking about the military in general, go ahead and get accustomed to fitness and nutrition because that’s our lifestyle now.

@@kebreannalasha I’ve been inconsistently working out since August lol I’m really stuggling with the sit ups and push up cause I’ve been putting the run first on my priorities list cause now I run around a 13:55 but how we’re u with sit ups and push ups and how did they help you? Also What running shoes did you wear for bmt???

@@strawberrymilk4497 Thats a great run time. Will most definitely het quicker at basic! I used brooks for my running shoes. They were good. As far as sit ups, I think you gotta do at least 36 Look at youtube videos on the proper form because everyone says sit ups are super easy but I struggled with them so bad. Honestly just practicing doing them in that minute with the proper form helps. All you have to do is sit up high enough where your elbows touch any part of your thigh. If they touch your pelvic bone, that counts, mid thigh counts. You don’t have to go all the way up to your knees. Just try to touch somewhere on your thigh as close to your pelvic area as possible. With push ups, break a 90 degree angle every time you go down. You’ll get better! I promise cause we all came out soo much better than how we came in. Please just dont short yourself every time you go to morning PT because we literally did exercises every morning that were meant to help us. You will do fine!! (Plus just make it through basic for operational air force has slighter easier alternatives. I rather do a 2 minute plank than sit ups lol)

I totally understand. Honestly, the quality on this camera is better, but the Cannon Kit camera will still do fine and it’s cheaper. I’ve been filming on this camera, but it takes alllllll day and night to transfer videos to my phone so I can edit. I can’t figure out how to transfer them to my laptop

@@kebreannalasha well I’ve heard that with canon you can download a software or app to the computer for transferring content but I’m not sure with Sony

@@TheAriasFam yes. They have a software too called Imaging Edge or something and that’s what takes all day lol. I don’t know if it’s because the wifi I was using was slow or what. I like the Sony though. The only thing I didn’t like about the Canon Kit wad that it makes videos look 1.2 seconds behind or something. Idl how to explore it but it seems slightly pixel and it focuses super slow. However, it came with so much more supporting equipment than the cannon did.

If you show symptoms they’ll send you home to get tested, and you can’t return l until you bring a negative or clearance letter. In these times, of course be safe and cautious, but don’t let a little sniffle get you sent back in your process. This recently happened to a young lady who was scheduled to ship out. On ship day, she TOLD them she had symptoms so they sent her home and didn’t let her leave and all she had was strep throat. I advise that if you suspect you may be sick, get tested and treated way before leaving and be careful moving forward. Your recruiter should tell you that when it gets close to ship time to basically quarantine yourself to not risk getting sick, or any last minute injuries/law trouble.

Hey. Yes! I don’t remember the exact score but I think my overall score was a 55 and for this job you need a 50 something and honestly, I just put it top on my list and my recruiter booked it for me. Express to your recruiter what job you really want and hopefully he/she works with you.

Once at Tech School, you’re allowed to leave base and can order or go buy whatever you want. However, there’s a checklist of things we have to accomplish before we earn our privileges to start going off base. Like room and uniform inspections, etc.

@@kebreannalasha Because I know I’m going to study but I study with my iPad so if laptops and computers aren’t provided, I’d want to take my iPad to basics with me.

@@dorotheemayag778 Ok. You won’t be able to use your own device at basic other than your cellphone for designated phone time. I highly recommend not bringing it because it’s gonna be broke by the end. If you do bring it, and it gets broke, they’re not paying for it because its on the do and do not bring list. Have someone ship it to you at Tech School.

The only time we were allowed to leave base during BMT was after graduation and we had to wear our blues uniform the whole time. As fat as Tech School, I had a pre-packed suitcase already and had my people ship it to me once there. I don’t advice bringing electronics other than a phone to basic because everything is going to get shoved and tossed around in a closet.

Hey. Honestly I’m so hurt. I got my nose piercings in September of 2021, and shipped out April of 2022. I thought they were fully healed by then so I took them out for basic. They closed up while I was in there. Some girls had plastic studs in though. We’re not supposed to have them but they pulled it off somehow. I think they took em out during the day and slept with them at night.
