Nikon FM2n and Agfa B/W Film at the San Diego Zoo
I went to the zoo, took some photos with Agfa APX 400 on my Nikon FM2n here are the “good” ones.
Photos were developed in Rodinal 1/50th dilution in a Jobo CP-2 with lift arm. I have to believe there are better developers for this emulsion as the grain is super pronounced. Next time I’ll try it in HC110.

Cross country on a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 - what was I thinking?
มุมมอง 163K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Two weeks ago I flew to Iowa to pick up my dad's Harley Sportster 1200. He decided he could no longer ride, so I jumped at it. For some reason I thought it was a good idea to ride it home to San Diego. This is a travel log of how that went down. Filmed mostly on an iPhone 7 with a Moondog Labs anamorphic lens and a DJI osmo. Most photos were taken with a Ricoh GRII Follow Me here: instagram.com...
Shooting an event with the Ricoh GRII
มุมมอง 18K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Usually, when I shoot an event for free it's because I'm either invested in the cause, helping friends out, or wanting to try out gear in a real world situation. This time it happened to be all three. I'm constantly trying to find the smallest and lightest kit that still yields acceptable results. So lets see what the Ricoh GRII and the GF1 flash can do. Results at 3:47 I'm here on Instagram: g...
Classic Cameras of History - Nikon FM2n
มุมมอง 11K5 ปีที่แล้ว
My Instagram: goo.gl/sevC4a There have been many film cameras that have passed through my possession, a rare few have managed to stay. The Nikon FM2n is one of those cameras. Golden Trout Wilderness Fly Fishing Tenkara Trip - Shot on Moondog Labs anamorphic adapter
มุมมอง 1805 ปีที่แล้ว
My Instagram: goo.gl/sevC4a Last September I went on a hiking/fishing trip to the Golden Trout Wilderness. With a 40 pound pack I couldn't afford to add much more weight so I opted to use my phone as a video camera. I attached an adapter to shoot anamorphic and used Filmic Pro to record. What you see here is just a proof of concept. I didn't shoot LOG because up to this point I haven't had good...
Dear Ricoh, thoughts on the GRIII ahead of Photokina 2018
มุมมอง 2.9K5 ปีที่แล้ว
My Instagram: goo.gl/sevC4a I tend to use a camera well into subsequent iterations, but this one has special significance. The Ricoh GR is about as perfect a camera as I could ask for. At least for the photography I Truly enjoy. I'd really hate for Ricoh to screw up what makes it great by chasing a broader audience. camerakungfu

    Oh, to be young and stupid again..... I rode Oklahoma City to Boston twice on a little Kawasaki 440LTD. Brutal ride on such a small bike, but it's a fond memory. Many years on now and I'm looking forward to taking my Road King out from Chicago to Boston in the coming summer. Motels for me. These old bones don't take to sleeping on the ground much any more.

    Awesome trip! Thanks for posting! I just found it. I felt like I was along for the ride! In 1992 I rode an 82 Magna from Miramar to the Grand Canyon and back in less than 24 hours. During the trip, I slept on the ground. I had no tent and little money. I had wanted to see the canyon, and I did, for 15 minutes. I arrived exhausted and hot. There was no place in the park for me to rest. I simply started home again. It was on July 4th and hotter than h@ll driving through the desert in California. Brutal trip! Great memory!

    You picked the absolute worst Harley-Davidson to ride long distance. As to why people ride cross country on a Harley-Davidson, they ride touring bikes. Much better designed frame, heavier bike makes a better ride just like a Lincoln Continental rides better than a VW bug.

      Sure! What do you want to know? I found a new tank on Offer Up. I also replaced the offending carb bits and leaky petcock. It sits on a trickle charger most of the time and I start it every week. BTW when I took the old tank off OMFG was it rusted. I had a Harley tech give it a tune up and replace tires in Iowa but apparently he couldn't be bothered to look in the tank with a flashlight. But then again neither did I... 🤣

    Inherited one of these from my father....thank you so much! I'm a photojournalism major and was wondering if I could get vintage F-mount and Minolta glass to play nicely with a DSLR, ended up going the Canon 5D Mark ii route and while I'm still running around on full-auto I'm blown away with some of the images I've pulled out of it. You just earned yourself a subscriber!

    • @camerakungfu
      @camerakungfu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me the M6TTL is Leica's high water mark and I love it. But for me if I were shooting more 35mm than I am currently, I'd buy a Zeiss Ikon. I know it's built by Cosina but it's just an amazing camera to load and use. My preference tends toward Zeiss glass but with the M mount options are limitless.

    As the name implies, sportsters aren’t for touring and having used my sportster for touring, I feel your pain. I love Harley’s though, you either get them or you don’t. They aren’t for everyone. I have 2 Harley’s and 2 antique British bikes; 1972 Norton Commando and a 1978 triumph Bonneville. I’ve taken the Norton on several couple thousand mile trips and was way more comfortable on that then on my sportster.

    These photos are great!! Could I ask the rough settings you would use for portrait shooting? ie shutter speed, ISO (in relation to flash). Just getting to grips with my GRii and wondering if you would typically compensate flash by underexposing the ISO? Thanks CKF....you rock :)

    • @camerakungfu
      @camerakungfu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally it's ISO 400, f/5.6 at 1/60 sec with the flash set to auto or fill depending on the flash I'm using. If it's outdoors (daylight) I'll adjust shutter speed to taste or drop the ISO. The nice thing about the GR is that it syncs at all speeds!

    I’ve had ridden and owned several bikes throughout my life. The best one? My 2002 sportster 1200c by far has outclassed even my other Harley’s I had. The 2004 models and up have the rubber mounts which make them more comfortable but as far as Harley’s being lousy travel bikes well…you just have to take the right one out for the long haul.

    I love NGK plugs and won't use anything else. Been using them for 45 years. But the super expensive iridium plugs don't seem to be any better than the regular ones. I have seen very few carburetors that actually need to be rebuilt, most just need cleaning because someone left old gas in them too long. The float needle is about the only part of a carburetor that ever wears out. I love those handlebars. I have an '06 rubbermount 1200, I wish it had bars like that. One of my first bikes (back about 1981) was a '79 Yamaha 650 Special that had bars similar to those. They were super comfortable. I don't much like the "beach bars" that come on most modern cruisers. To each their own. I know Dateland well. I either drive or ride from Phoenix to Yuma and back about once a month. Ride in the winter, drive in the summer. It's 118 degrees in the summer. I used to stop at the Space Age motel in Gila Bend for breakfast most of the time, but they changed owners, not as friendly now. Glad you made it safely.
