And Copper for the same reason, although I do love to ski Copper backside on a pow day. Hard to beat. BC for sure on groomer days. Lotta good “go fast” runs:)
Skiied there last couple of years. Must have hit thesweet spot each time, always midweek. . Had a good time. Good snow. Few issues. Biggest issue out of control snowboarders.
I know this video is exaggerated a ton but I really liked Vail when I was there. Granted there were no crowds on any of the days and one of them was a powder day so I guess I havent seen any of the truly bad
@@SRGSkiing You know you meant every word coming out of your mouth 😁 Instead of Vail, you can go to Park City, Snowbird, Big Sky, Copper, Breckenridge, Telluride, Steamboat, Jackson Hole, Mammoth, or somewhere in Lake Tahoe.
I’m a little surprised that “Vail Resorts” the company was part of the disclaimer as something not to hate at. Affiliates and the Mountain understandable, especially over the accidents, but I would’ve expected every major skier to hate the conglomerate.
I know it was a joke, but true lovers leap is close to the trees and is a cliffed out face with a sharper cornice and chutes at the bottom. What Arjun skied and the clip in this video was iron mask which is much easier.
I wanna go to vail cause I wanna go to all the resorts at least once but dam being stuck on a lift with a rich snob and hot heads sounds awful 😅 gotta find a super slow day to go
@@SRGSkiing big oof but I ain’t paying all that money for a lift ticket to wait in lines! Affluent it is, I just hope their Porsche doesn’t hit me on the I70
I once shared a lift with a 70 yr old dude telling me how rich he is that he can feel free to park in the vail parking garage instead of taking the bus/shuttle 😂
Ykw, I've had one super nice experience with a rich guy who has a house out by Beaver Creek. Met him on the lift, he was super nice, we skied together all morning. However, I have also had several negative experiences, and quantitatively, several bad>one good
I was thinking of in the near future of going to Vail, but a week at the 'Sebastian' in February works out around on average £6,500 or $8,400 before you eat or get a lift pass, so for *me* I'd be looking in the region of $12,000. So, I'll think again. How's Aspen these days?
Never skied Vail but I've had some nightmare days at heavenly. What pain in the ass that place can be. It can also be super fun if you go at the right time and know where to ride.
@@SRGSkiingI was a groomer at Vail for one winter. I remember being scared shitless one night as half of my track was hanging over Lover’s cornice so we could groom out part of the approach for some fancy pants NYC investors.
Can we talk about their marketing too? I’ve been getting blown up with ads saying “the back bowls are open” and it’s one crusty and grassy aspect of sundown bowl. Or last year when we were riding chair four almost into Christmas and everything on their Facebook and IG pages made it look like a winter wonderland while you’re actually having to download over grass. It can be a fun place for groomers but the vibe is terrible most days
I worked at Vail and Winter Park(mid 2000s to mid 2010s). One thing I noticed is that people went to Vail to say they went to Vail. On the flip side people went to WP to ski. Personally I’d rather deal with the guy from Nebraska skiing in jeans at WP than a trust fund dipshit at Vail any day.
As a Vail local and quite a vocal critic of Fail Resorts myself, half this video makes no sense. If you are using the catwalks to navigate, you're doing it wrong. I think the only catwalk I use on a regular basis is the relatively short one from the bottom of 21 to Blue Sky. As for parking, there are more than just 2 options. I can think of 12 right off the top of my head. Avoid the Solaris garage, though, as the owner is a giant douche, and the rates are highway robbery. We just dont broadcast most of them so that locals can take advantage of the free or reduced parking. Let the snobby people fund the town through overpriced parking. And a tip on long lift lines, with the exception of Chair 2, which almost always has a line after 10am, if you encounter a line, go to the same lift again. The way Vail is setup, you do a lot of traveling from one lift to another, rather than lapping the same lift. Usually, people just randomly end up all at the same lift. Then they all have the same idea that they should go somewhere else to avoid that long line. Like if i want to get to Mongolia Bowl, but Chair 21 is busy, I'll do a lap on Tea Cup or through Blue Sky, and try again in 15 minutes. In the time it takes for folks to navigate the hour lift line at Gondola 1 in the morning on a powder day, most of us are already at the top, waiting for the ropes to drop on the backside, although I'm not going to share my route on that one. Gotta keep a local's secret to protect the stash.
Trust me, we know our way around Vail. Doesn't sound like you need it, but if you care, we talk about evedything you just mentioned jn our 5-part Insider's Guide series for Vail. This video is purposefully facetious.
My biggest issue with these destination resorts is paying to park, and then walking through a gauntlet of overpriced shops, hotels, and restaurants they call a "village" before you even see a lift. Then, the mountains are such that getting to anything good up and away from the beginners pizza-ing the traverse trails... is at least 2 if not 3 lift rides away. Vail is the worst offender of this. Beaver Creek is even worse. It's like dude...I just want to ski.
Full disclosure: BC and Vail designed those villages b/c of dickheads like me. And I'm going to Vail and BC for the first time Feb 20, but I only have a day at each one. Gonna start at BC to try out my new 4FRNT MSP 181/99's on what I've heard are sweet greens and blues, but I'm dreading the walk. And this time my skis will be heavier b/c I was on Atomic Vantage 169/75's. That's gonna suck coming from Elk Lot for $13/day and a 10 min bus ride. BC's park & shuttle bus system reminds me of parking in Rodeo Lot at Snowmass, then you have to go up 13 steep metal steps and another 15 stone steps before even entering the "village" to drop your skis and ride 45 seconds down to where the lift starts. So annoying! Taos used to be one of the best places to ski ASAP until they started expanding upon The Drake. They're building 2 more hotels across from it and are showing signs that a "village" is coming. If they do that, Taos will be the worst place to "Dude, I just want to ski" b/c their parking lots are huge, too.
the snow quality is no different than any other mountain in CO, and ive experienced relatively little wait for lift lines compared to other mountains in NA, never waited more than a few minutes and usually go about 20 days a year, also there is free parking serviced by a free shuttle but i guess some poser that is talking shit on the internet bc its fashionable to hate on vail arbitrarily wouldnt know that ❤

After the Park City debacle, I will never again ski or stay at a Vail property even with an Icon or Epic pass.
I raced at Vail often as a teen in the mid 60's. In the 70's we always joked that Vail look like a "highway rest area as you drove in
I like Vail because it attracts all the traffic so I can enjoy Beaver Creek with no line.
