Vegas Pro 17 can read 10 bit

I can't even import the footage in Premiere or Resolve. It only imports audio. What software should I use to transcode the footage without losing any image quality?

If I use my Atomos Ninja recorder editing is a breeze. DNxHQ 4k 10bit 60p is no problem. But 4k 8bit LONGgop and my pc can't even play a file decently in Premiere. LONGgop codec is a nightmare, even on my I7 16gb full SSD system. I now create proxies in Premiere and render out the original files.

You mentioned this Sirui Monopod could do a bunch of things the Manfrotto one couldn't, but didn't explain what they were? I'm trying to decide which one to buy and from the video I just watched of the Manfrotto, except for the locking mechanisms (clips v screw ones) they're pretty much the same. You able to elaborate mate?

Thanks Daniel. I have the same one and found it a brilliant piece of gear. I mainly use the bottom tripod.

I downloaded your footages and imported them into Resolve 14, then generated optimized media, and it works fine.

Watching your video, either I had a small stroke every few seconds or some sort of time dilation weirdness. There seem to be little segments missing.

I have no idea what are you talking about. I just got this monopod and it is going back to B & h It is nothing like a tripod and it will never be a replacement for a tripod. it is not better than any other monopod with legs. The only thing ill give it, is that you can leave your camera hands free. If you are a wedding videographer, it will not help you with anything that moves. For example, during a toast, most of the time the subject moves and when you follow the subject ,your shot Is not going to be any smoother than any other monopod. Like I said. The only thing ill give it, is standing by itself.

So I guess the short answer is that you cannot use the native files out of the camera. I guess alternatively you can use an outboard recorder while shooting to eliminate the whole BS of proxies and transcoding after the fact. The allure of the GH5 is the ability to shoot continuously with zero stoppage at 30 minutes so it is pretty likely you will see massive long takes and hence large file sizes. With the outboard recorder you are going to solve that problem as well. Now do you use VLog and is it worth getting>??

Nothing works, everything I've tried still ends up giving me the black screen, whether it be Cineform or dnxhr...Am I just screwed until they finally fix this? Just seems like a silly issue to be having. I can run the footage through After Effects, but I lose quality and I am fairly certain it's not 10 Bit...

Hi, when I drag the footage into premiere there is only audio. And when I try to put it in Media Encoder it will just be a black screen. Not sure what is going on, I am currently on windows 10.

The free clip browser app from Sony, "Catalyst Browse 2017" can open 10-bit GH5 files and transcode them to a different format. I use Catalyst Browse to transcode my GH5 files to Sony XAVC Intra formats which I can then open with several different NLEs. It's free and definitely worth a look.

Thanks for the video! Could You describe your impressions of 2-months usage of that monopod? I'm especially curious about it's stability since I'm looking for a monopod that could function almost like a tripod (so as I won't be forced to hold it all the time in my hands, that guy shows that it is possible: th-cam.com/video/hB4Z4mDPmqY/w-d-xo.html but he has P-424 S model). I would use it with quite light equipment (Manfrotto 500ah, DSLR camera, 70-200 lens - everything together 2.5 kilo). I think over buying this model or model P-424S. What I like about P-426S is that it's minimum lenght is 220 mm shorter than P-424 S, but on the other hand P-424S model may be more stabil thanks to lower number of locking sections and higher maximum loading (12 kilos while P-426S max loading is 10 kilos). But, if your model is stabil enough (is it?), I will consider it because it is more mobile and one can obtain lower shoots while using it in comparison to P-424S. Actually, what brought you to buying that exact model and how that monopod works in practice? Has it any drawbacks?

Solution to everyone: Use ffmpeg. Every professional or semi-pro who works with video must have it installed. Use following command: ffmpeg -i (inputfilename) -c:v dnxhd -vf format=yuv422p10 -b:v 185M (outputfilename) Find a command for batch file converting of multiple clips.

i am using DaVinci, i have a problem with 10 bit 4 2;2; ,in mac siearra OS , clips is showing media off line ,how can i dot pls give some tips ,

punching in to a closer frame can help you hide jump cuts more naturally.

Brilliant. I'm on an incredible MacPro but a GH5 giving it issues? Disturbing, but hopefully Adobe fixes it soon. I learned some great stuff about proxy editing. I would like to know your roundabout workflow when bringing your footage from Premiere to DaVinci and using your proxy technique. Simple export to XML, and they include the original clips?

I don't have any problems editing my GH5 10bit 422 files in DaVinci Resolve 12.5.

i found a transcoder called 'editready' which works well on my two-year old imac and fcpx although the files expands 5x going from .mov to prores hq. it costs $50 but the developer is very responsive and emailed me a beta to support the gh5. but i'm hoping that apple gets things updated to support the 10-bit files before too much longer and such workarounds won't be needed. /guy

Everything good and right .... only 99% of all views have neither the right screen, quasi 10Bit capable .... and You Tube eh only 8 bits
