Lovely podcast to watch, looking forward to watching your other episodes. Interesting what you said abiut magic loop on knitpro cables. I have only used knitpro and hate magic loop for that reason, maybe its the cords more than the technique, I might try another brand as it is a handy technique sometimes.
Watch your podcast for the first time, loved it ❤ from Montréal Canada
Hi Lily! Do you have an email for brand partnerships? Would love to get in touch about partnering on some crafty content -ty!
I so enjoy your podcast. Just wanted to say thank you for recommendation of Little Dorrit. I’ve just finished watching it, and loved it! I’m going to mine iplayer for more period drama (possibly Bleak House next…). Have you seen Dickensian? - I enjoyed it. I’m close to finishing an April cardigan, which I also have you to thank for. I’m using Wensleydale Longwool from Leyburn.
Your storm sweater is beautiful! I love that you're trying to stick to your color palette so you can wear your garments - I can relate to that so well! I'm so sorry you had to reknit your colorwork sweater, but hopefully you enjoyed it just as much the second time around! 🤞it does look stunning with those colors all together! Thanks for sharing what you are watching, too! Happy knitting 😊
Just discovered your channel and enjoyed it immensely. Cheerful, informative and a good pace. Will be back for more. from Ottawa, Canada
I haven't watched the Gilded Age, but for a reading recommendation you might like The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton. I listened to (most of) the audiobook last year and really enjoyed what I heard before I had to return it to the library. Although I never finished it, I do happily recommend it, although it's got that same sense of impending tragedy as more or less everything from then seems to have! Hope you've had a lovely festive season, and I hope 2024 brings lots more yarn and excellent projects for you!
Fab video as always Merry Christmas 🤶
I’m absolutely obsessed with your blanket idea (and I may try it out for myself 🤭)! The Rico Make It Tweed was a REVELATION. I’ve been looking for a way to jazz up my sweaters, and I’d completely forgotten that adding different yarns is an option. Brb, adding every pattern in the description to my Ravelry queue.
Perhaps do the next size up for the colour work to keep the ‘look” of the knitting in the size of needle you are currently using. Then go back to the correct size of pattern after the colour work, or as you like things loose/boxy, stay with the larger size.
Nice..just discovered you ..loving your podcast and makes..😊
Thanks for watching! 😊
You are new to me and I've just subscribed. Sorry about your Celeste - twice the fun! If I were you, i would definitely gauge swatch, especially so you can check if you like the fabric you get on a bigger gauge. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
This is how I’m trying to look at it! I enjoyed it once so why wouldn’t I enjoy it the second time! 🤞
Hi Lilly! I’m wondering, what do you mean by “double knitting” when forgoing it for the sewn bind off? Do you mean separating the knits and purls for two rounds? I think I have a different conception of double knitting. Thank you!!!!
Yes! The two round where you knit your knits and slip your purls with yarn in front for one round and then reverse the process. I am entirely too impatient for it!
How have I only just discovered your lovely channel?! This was a really nice watch, and your makes are beautiful!! 😌💛
Thank you ☺️ it’s so lovely to have all of you all to talk with about the things we love ❤️
I desperately need to make another Lakes Sweater, your whole experience makes me remember how much I enjoyed it. Sadly I used an alpaca yarn that pills so so so so much and looks like it's 100 years old. :( Strumpfwolle simply means "sock yarn", well pronounced though. ;)
Oh that’s so sad about your Lakes Pullover, I have a lovely jumper where the yarn has just pilled to the point I’m scared to wear it and it’s so frustrating. I’m glad my one year of high school German allowed me to not entirely butcher your language!
Thanks for your podcast Lily, enjoyable as always. I love Little Dorrit too and lots of other Dickens stuff. Would recommend Martin Chuzzlewit too. I’m making a man’s sweater in Peer Gynt and I’m quite worried about the scratchy-ness. Hope it softens after washing & blocking. Drops Daisy is the polar opposite isn’t it? Going to make an Eva Cardigan with this next. Merry Christmas!
I’m sure I had the BBC Martin Chuzzlewit on video! I will confess to trying to read Dickens multiple times and never succeeding, I entirely rely on TV adaptations! Drop Daisy is 100% getting its own garment at some point, so soft!!
@@LilyHesterandLark I think the BBC are brilliant at adapting Dickens and many period dramas. Another fav of mine is their Pride and Prejudice 6 part series. I didn’t like the film that came out later, you really can’t hurry and cut a Jane Austen and the BBC are very true to her novels!
I actually did a little squeal when you mentioned Little Dorrit. I think I've watched it maybe 30+ times?! It began my love of Charles Dickens and, weirdly, purple 💜 lol. Little Dorrit wears purple throughout (drab/muted purple when she is poor and jewelled purple when she is rich) and I have just loved purple eve since I first watched it!! It's my fave period drama ever- so happy to hear you talking about how great it is! Loved the podcast, as ever!!! Have a lovely festive period if you celebrate!
It’s so nice to find other people that love what you love isn’t it! I’ve noticed her purple outfits as well, especially as the shade of purple she wears a lot would have been considered a mourning colour at the time I think. An interesting way to think about her character… 💜
@@LilyHesterandLark ohhh, that's so interesting to hear!!! I didn't know there was a connection between purple and mourning, but I feel like that absolutely mirrors Amy's character, as different aspects of grief follow her constantly throughout. Wowow, such an amazing insight, thank you!
Your storm sweater is gorgeous! I've had my eye on the pattern for a little while, and the pattern page on Ravelry tags it as a "written pattern," so I purchased it to shamelessly copy yours but, alas! it is charted. I simply cannot make heads or tails of charts, so I will live vicariously through you and your lovely sweater 🧶
Oh no! Maybe one day you’ll fancy a chart and you can come back to it, but also sometimes a hobby is just for doing things that make you feel good and happy and chart based rage and frustration doesn’t fit into that! 💙
I feel the same about charts. I’m an old girl who can’t get her head around them!
Absolutely! @@LilyHesterandLark I'll tuck the pattern away as a possible gift for Future Me should Future Me be into charts!
Lovely catching up with you, Lily! Your Lakes Sweater is absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to see how it turns out! I’ve just finished the second season (series as the Brits call it) of Gilded Age and it’s been such a great watch. Can’t wait I hear what you think of it once you’ve managed to get your hands on it. 💛
I’m so excited to get it finished!! Just have to slowly shuffle myself off sleeve island 🏝️ I actually have some days off over Christmas for the first time in 7 (SEVEN!) years and I think Gilded Age is going to fit into that little space perfectly ❤️
I've missed you! 😊 throughly enjoyed your podcast today. ❤
Thank you so much for coming back ☺️ It’s absolutely a goal for 2024 to be a bit more regular with my episodes!
Suggestion for unfinished projects - unpick and knit something else
Omg you’re funny 😂 especially when you’re saying you’ve bought the yarn ‘cause they’re so pretty and when you finish knitting your project with them you’re gonna say again ‘they’re so pretty’ 😂😂
Fab video as always 😊
Thank you!! 😊
It's fab, love your colours too! 🥰
Thanks so much 😊
Re the dye lot for your storm sweater, suggest you check with SKD yarns, Knitt yarns, and Otter rook yarns to see if they have the same dye lot
I definitely need to do a little email around, I only need one extra so fingers crossed 🤞
Happy belated birthday! It’s so nice to hear someone who also likes A Discovery of Witches! I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it as this point. It’s such a cosy, comforting series. I agree, the books are much better. But considering that series 2 and 3 were filmed in the midst of lockdowns, they didn’t do a bad job. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
Oh I really enjoy the show, it’s just (understandably) not as detailed as the books so suffers from more plot holes 😂
Happy Birthday! I too really enjoyed Discovery of Witches.I just bought some make it tweed at Rhinebeck and you are inspiring me to cast on!
Happy to provide some knitspiration 👍
You make me chuckle look forward to your episodes beautiful knitting too 😊
😊 thank you
Oh, my ❤ seeing the baby knits ❤ I am knitting for babies for 7 years now and I think its magic to knit for the little ones Love your content as always ❤
I love making baby gifts, it’s so special to have hand made pieces ❤️
Lily, I love seeing how your fabric using the Make it Tweed is turning out! I've had thoughts of trying some out. Happy belated birthday and happy knitting!
I’m loving the make it tweed, such an easy way to add a bit of colour and fun 😊
Happy belated birthday! I love how the yarns came together for the sweater you're replicating from the shop. It looks awesome!
Thank you! 😊 I’m going to enjoy wearing it so much!
Brilliant work on the color combo in your Lakes pullover🎉 Happy belated birthday. Wishing you hours of happy cozy knitting! Thank you for another splendid episode❤
Thank you! I am so pleased with my yarn combo ❤️
Absolutely beautiful finished items and yarn you selected! I didn’t see the baby socks linked? Do you happen to have that?
I thoroughly enjoy your podcast and I love your banter with yourself and your knitting projects. I can relate to all the things you share especially the part of getting the photos😂
I enjoy your podcast, but there are too many advertisements throughout.
Love your podcast! I have knit the good old raglan for my grands. It's a free pattern on Ravelry. Simple quick knit. True to size! I am thinking about making the Dahlia Dress for my granddaughter in the coming months and also the storm sweater for my grandson. Love your dress! I just bough that book also, so now I need to go have a closer look. Thanks for sharing all your knitting and your fun personality!
I so enjoy your podcast! Such great projects - that cumulus is going to be fab!
I’m so close to finishing it! I’m so excited to wash and block and wear 💚
Loved this podcast!! Please if you can, could you share the names of the 80s pattern books, I've fallen down an 70s-80s knitting/crochet pattern loophole :0
Lovely podcast, but wow! That’s a lot of commercials!
I don’t think I get to choose these! But I’ll have a look at the settings 😊 thank you so much for watching
There is definitely a way. You can’t get rid of all ads but can change the amount. But I don’t know how easy it is to find….if you haven’t monetized your channel then the only one benefitting is TH-cam. Anyway, I just thought I’d mention it because I know that a lot of newer creators don’t realize this and I’m too cheap to pay for TH-cam premium 😂
Love the cropped jumper and it looks great on you. You did a beautiful job. The baby knits are so adorable. I really enjoyed seeing all your acquisitions. Take care and see you next time.
Thank you so much! 😊
So glad you’re feeling better. What beautiful knits! 💚🧶💚
Thank you 🧡🧡🧡
Love your channel! Your FO's looked great and bravo for finishing the all over colorwork sweater so quickly. I totally agree about the PetiteKnit pattern. I am currently working on the Ingrid Man Sweater from PetiteKnit and the sleeve decreases were driving me crazy. I did not know how to do the decreases without disrupting the 2X2 rib pattern. I had to rip up a couple of times trying to figure it out, asked a whole bunch of people and it was decided that there is no way to do decreases without disrupting the 2X2 rib. I know people don't like to be "hand held" in patterns but at least put a note that says "decreases will disrupt the pattern, there is no way around it" This is my first garment knit from PetiteKnit and it kind of put me off from trying other garment patterns from her.
Thank you for watching! I’ve just started my Storm Sweater for myself and that DOES have a sleeve decrease chart which I’m very grateful for. I think the thing is if you’ve haven’t had your hand held once or twice it’s harder to learn to adapt these things on your own so I’m all for all the extra help!
@@LilyHesterandLark I'm glad the storm sweater has the decreases in the chart and can't wait to see the finished product. I do love PetiteKnit designs, so maybe I shouldn't judge so harshly over one pattern.
Lily, I'm enjoying your podcast & your knits are lovely. What is the baby sock pattern you discussed? For your Wave, an option is to start the ribbing in the blue Woolly Knit and then finish with a couple rows of the white. It can be a nice effect. Happy knitting!
I think a stripe through the ribbing would fit with the 70’s vibe as well, what a lovely idea thank you 😊 Here’s the baby sock pattern www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-socks-23 😊
I was curious about the baby sock pattern you use. I didn’t see it linked above :) I could be blind though
It’s Baby Socks by Kate Atherley www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-socks-23! And it’s free!
There are quite a few garments designed for babies that accommodate the size of their heads. Most notably is Arrival and Fraser by Dani Sunshine. Arrival has a classic envelope neckline, while Fraser has a button band on the front raglan. Also Mithril by Lisa Chemery has a grandad style neckline, without any buttons. All three are very cute!
Oh I hadn’t heard of those! I shall absolutely go and check them out, thank you!
The Kelsey baby cardigan is very pretty and easy to do. I’ve made two for my great granddaughter.
Thank you so much for the suggestion, it’s always good to hear about items that have actually worked out for people 😊
Haha agree on bras!
😂😂😂
Good to see you again and loved your colour work top. The colours you’ve chosen for the baby knits are gorgeous. I hope you get your photos 😊
Thank you! I’m really enjoying all my warm autumn tones at the moment 🧡
Btw I took your advice on laying a top I was making on top of a top I like! That’s a lot of tops 😂 I’m not going to correct. Fabulous tip.
It was lovely to see you again! Isn't it great when your knitting mojo is in high gear and you get a lot of things accomplished in a short period of time? Your colorwork top is super cute. I need to put some colorwork in my life soon. It's been a while!
I felt very accomplished and productive 😂
