    You're literally already almost FM strength since you are 2500 Lichess Rapid, that's why I think you shouldn't stop at 2000 FIDE. All I can say is that objective opening strength counts a lot more in classical, and especially your Black openings are dubious (plus you need to adopt additional openings to surprise your opponents anyway)

    • @ChessLifestyle
      @ChessLifestyle 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks Jan! I don't think 2500 Rapid equates to being able to reach 2300 FIDE nowadays... But I do think my biggest weaknesses can be overcome, at least momentarily (while I'm on top form and training hard), which will then allow me to make a jump in ELO. So we'll see what the future holds :)

    Thank you for making this video! At 3:35 you drew a parallel of Ureshino to chess and I think Ureshino is similar to the Freak Attack response to the Sicilian Najdorf by white, where after the Najdorf pawn on a6 white responds with Rg1, preparing an attack on the kingside with the idea of g4, g5 supported by the g1 rook to pressure the knight on f6, with open diagonals to the kingside from the queen and dark square bishop. Likewise in the Ureshino you have the rook on its 28 starting square to push the 2nd file pawn, accompanied by the bishop and silver on the 79-24 diagonal. As a Freak Attack player looking for new shogi openings I'm happy to have discovered your video

    • @ChessLifestyle

      You should definitely check out Matthew Sadler's videos for his opening ideas with this g4 push! Fun comment to read, thanks for drawing the parallel :D

    Idk if it's just me, but when I tried taking lion's mane in extract form, I am able to focus on reading my chess books better. Not sure if it's only placebo. Will give it a try again soon. Training tactics is like training your jab in boxing. That punch (if done correctly) could stop almost all attacks by the enemy. Same with chess, if you automatically recognize patterns; you would be a very intimidating player.

    • @ChessLifestyle

    Chess Countries that I've visited that I forgot to include: - CHINA [B TIER] So in 2nd year of uni I got to represent my university UCL at an international university tournament in Tianjin, China! All expenses covered, was such an amazing trip, and the tournament even organised tour guides to take each individual team around the city 🥹 In terms of a tournament, it was the most grand and well-polished event I've ever (and probably will ever) compete in, but despite all this, it gets a B tier from me. The event itself was a spectacle, but the chess scene still felt like it was missing a lot? Like, a lot of strong players with great coaching, but the chess culture and community vibe wasn't there at all (which is an important factor to me). So B tier.

    • @ChessLifestyle
      @ChessLifestyle 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Honestly, it could've been in A tier. I mean, all the Germans in chess that I've met have been fantastic (which I guess includes you too 😂), but somehow the chess atmosphere/vibe is missing something to me? I think it could also be to do with the fact I've only played chess in Dortmund, and that Germany is pretty big so it has a similar problem to US in terms of creating that network to unite the chess country as a whole. Idk, I'm still waiting for my three course meal to come so the hunger is getting to my brain... 😂😂

    Playing on the physical board should really help you to be familiar with the wooden board instead of always playing on the computer screen, and it is so useful to have it automatically updating the screen, and the notations recorded. How much would it be to buy one?

    44:15 I’m surprised that you aren’t considering the sac of the exchange here despite the weakened king position. So my thought would be to play Be5 and if f4 then Qh4 with a mate threat. I don’t like a6 as you suggested so much because the bishop can come back to e2 and somehow cover the g4 square which enables f4. The only way Be2 is good for us is if Ne2 is a very strong defensive move, but then the bishop could choose to retreat somewhere else. I believe our kingside attack is very strong here with 4/potentially 5 pieces getting close to the white king.

    As a FM and coach myself (2384 Fide now), I've got to say that this puzzle was difficult for me (I also missed ...b4!!), eventually I wan able to conclude that Rxd6 didn't work bcs of the line you mentioned and settled for the Bxe5, Ne6 idea as what I would do in a game but I wasn't sure the advantage was decisive. I agree that the puzzle is very challenging (I would say at least it should be for 2100+) but also I would like to encourage you to approach in another way, see it as analytical challenge where you need to find the truth about the position (as if you were playing the game) instead of "Finding a forced win". I think calculation is ultimately not about the answers but about the search and developing good habits and thinking processes. Maybe Ramesh's book is not ideal for you, I would highly recommend you Aagard's calculation techniques. Cheers!

    Shogi is a great game, but at least for me it has one major flaw: Short time controls. Compared to chess, where every player has about 2 hours to think, in shogi it is just 20 minutes and then the byo-yomi guillotine. Because of short time controls, players can not record their moves, and eventually their games are lost and can not be analysed. I participated on International Shogi Forum, a great tournament, but the majority of games where not recorded, not published and not properly analyzed. Also, there is an issue with trainers. I am aware that in Japan there is a license to teach shogi (将棋普及指導員) but the exam is available only in Japanese. I hope that an international version of this exam in English will be standardized, and shogi fans can have a visible target when searching for solid shogi approval.
