Join me as I document my journey in this hobby of slot cars
What started off as a simple question by one of my friends in January 2023 "Have you seen slot cars lately?" has got me going down the rabbit hole. I had a spare room that was just used as storage so I got rid of everything and purchased a starter set.
I built a small table which was quickly followed up with more track and cars and an addition to the table. My layout has expanded multiple times, I've also joined a local racing club and along the way I am learning how to tune cars as well as getting into building my own cars.
So sit back and follow me as I grow in this hobby

This is my 3rd build, a Penelope Pitlane which one was given to everyone in my club. These cars are part of a regular rotation but ive been using a loaner up until this point. So I cant wait to see how it performs on the wood tracks

i have never run the Pioneer club cars, so I cant speak to them

The club car seems to have a guide problem? Love the UPS as its a real looker. I think Dave was running these on Policar track with those guides? Anyway a very interesting video🏁
I will look into the club car's guide when I remove the magnets. Yes, I believe Dave ran these on his Polcar track

Does not clean the slot . 👎🏻👎🏻 carerra dropped the ball on that one. The truck is very sharp. I think this truck will benefit more for who race with silicone tires since they have to constantly clean the track. I race Paul gage urethane tires and building up grip with rubber on the track. So this is no good for me. Nice looking truck tho. Thanks for the video bro 🏁

Love the video of these two beautiful slot cars! Did they originally have magnets? Also looks like the guide system they have a fine on the Carrera track!🏁
They come with magnets but the magnets are not installed, you can add them if you like. and yes they run fine on Carrera track with the standard guides

Hi Gene, you did a good job on that with your handycap. Hats off Brother! Your grass in the backyard could use some intensive care, I see. Didn`t it rain the last weeks in Boston? If so, you should water the grass intensive, so that it can recover. Otherwise it will be damaged quite more. After watering, fertilizer for the Fall season should be brought out on it. That fertilizer for the Fall has more potassium and nitrogen in it and helps the grass to get better over the dry periods, making it more robust. It actually prepairs the grass fot the winter, but it gives it more strenght to withstand the hot months. Two weeks later it should be scarified on the whole space. If there are still some dead spotts, seed it there again and don`t forget to water it. During the summer months, it is helpful to let the grass stand longer over that period, means let it grow about 3 -4 inches tall. That prevents the grass from drying out too much.The higher grass gives it shade oin the bottom. Don`t worry, if your neighbours look strange, because of the height. I know you are handycaped right now, but a little care and it will be fine again. If you want to know, if the grass is dead, you can cut out a piece like 6 x 6 inches at those dead spotts and check if the roots are dead. That way, you know if it comes back, or died. If you know all that, ignore my comment here Gene. 🙂
Thanks for the grass advice but right now I cannot take care of it with my shoulder. I do have a grass cutting service in the mean time. so this year it is what it is, I will address it next year
@@SpareRoomSlotCars Hi Gene, all fine and I figured you could not do it. Bu you should water the grass, if it won`t rain in the next weeks. That prevents the damage a little this year. Like I wrote, the grass will come back, if it didn`t die at certain spotts. Watering helps it. Have a nice weekend and all best wishes for a soon recovery. My right shoulder is still inflamed, even after I made a Cortison cure with pills. After two weeks of that, the shoulder still hurts, but I can move it better. More Physiotherapy comming next week therefore. Catch you soon 🙂
@@bomamo9620 Hi Bo, I am currently into week 3 of my PT. my shoulder is still painful at times but I do notice improved range of motion. DR recommends no strengthening until after week 12. so I still have a ways to go

Finally a good video testing these cars on 1/24 scale Carrera track! I have been wondering about the guide blade and it performed great along with quickslick tires! Great video Gene!🏁

I understand the stock guides are garbage. Did you do any work/upgrade to the guide?
I hadn't at the time of the video, but I have since replaced the stock guide with a Sloting Plus SP101004 Universal 1/32 EVO Deep Wood Guide

Which Quick Slicks did you purchase. TS03 XF or TS04? The 04 is a larger diameter tire which the last time I checked SCC was out of stock

Hey Gene, just checked your video out before I went to bed. Nice cars. I have to get stuff at slot car corner to some of the tires on the old cars. I have there’s no grip.
I had some old cars as well that had no grip , so i replaced the tires with quick slicks since we run them at my club
