    Did you drill the wood shelf to your table? I’m not really a DIY person and I’m kinda scared to drill into my table, since it’s from IKEA and doing so will void the warranty. I know it has been 4 years, but if you’re still around do you have any ideas that get around drilling through the table itself? And if that’s impossible, are there certain types of wood that would have difficulty drilling into? My table’s the Idasen desk 160x80cm, and its table top is particle and fibreboard with honeycomb paper filling (100% recycled paper), Ash veneer, Stain, Clear acrylic lacquer, Plastic edging.

      Thanks for watching! Yes, I drilled the wood shelf to 2 2x4s as I showed in the video that were drilled into the underside of the desk. I don't know of any glue or adhesive that I'd trust with the amount of weight that would be attached. I've seen others that instead of attaching a desk to the table, you could use a piano stand on wheels and wheel in in and out from under the desk which could give some more flexibility. My tabletop is solid hardwood so I'd trust a little more weight on it than a particleboard table. If you have more questions please ask. :)

    What size did you get your shelf?

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It was based on the size of the piano that I had, but you can realistically use any size as long as it fits underneath your desk. Just make sure the shelf is thick enough to support the amount of weight you will have on it, especially if it’s a heavier piano than I used

      Hi thanks for watching! It wasn’t, but I decided to add a metal support underneath to further support the desk and alleviate my nagging fear of that happening. It had been fine for about a year, but it was something I decided to do for peace of mind since it was cheap.

      Thanks so much for watching! Yes, I have 9 of them in my build now and they aren’t too much different from the noctua fans they replaced. Just be careful and check case clearance if you go with these as they are 30mm thick instead of the standard 25mm. I had to swap to a new case because these wouldn’t fit where I wanted them to in my original case. I’m also able to run them at lower rpm since they have more performance from that thicker frame

    Any issues with the tray sagging over time? since it's been 3 years now? I have an S88 and I am worried with the length of the tray and the weight of the keybed, And obviously playing the keyboard. Would you recommend maybe going the full 1-inch thickness? Or was the 1/2 inch fine?

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey thanks for watching. Much appreciated! In retrospect and for my own sanity I’d probably go with something like a full 1 inch thickness, however I did add some extra support with a metal bar underneath just in case, although it wasn’t necessary. Just didn’t like the flex from the thinner panel.

      @ thanks for replying. I ended up getting a sit/stand desk. So I am just using my keyboard Z stand under the desk. And just slide it out when I need it. The Sit/stand desk is motorised. So it’s perfect. Just have my Z stand in its lowest setting.

    For constructive feedback: I love the idea, but would be much more interested in seeing the process and mechanics of it, rather than just watching a talking head and no details. What materials did you use? Did you share models or measurements for other people to use? Things like that to make it interesting.

      @TechedOff 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Much appreciated! As you can imagine I’m still learning the TH-cam thing haha. I’m no 3d printer or anything (yet) but they were pretty much store bought permanent magnets with adhesive stuck to the back of the shapes with a precut metal sheet bought from Home Depot. You’d definitely be able to cut your own if you have the tools/knowhow, but for simplicity and finding a cheap picture frame from Walmart, I went with a precut sheet that is a very common size for pictures. I think we can all agree that nanoleaf’s mounting system kind of sucks and should just use magnets for both wall attachment and interconnect as standard but here we are haha

Keep checking other reviews as well before you decide, but from what I’ve read very few toothbrushes out there charge with a non proprietary connector. I figure that matters to you and most who watch otherwise people would buy an oral b or Philips and be done with it. I must say for traveling the convenience is great.

The majority of people viewing this already went with nanoleaf and this is an advanced technique so you don’t need to defended them or rationalize their cost. My take: @wotanproject 0 seconds ago I wanted to love this purple 4 hybrid, settled on it after trying in a store. I would say the first month or so it feels good, but over time the support is just not there. We have been sleeping on the premier 4 for just under a year and it has become the ultimate back killer. My back aches and I have developed new pains down both legs. If you need a supportive mattress, I would say this is not the one. Over time the support lags the dips do not support proper alignment. Regretting my purchase every day.

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear that! It looks like purple doesn't even sell this model anymore either. It looks like they went through a rebrand and (rather sneakily, or maybe not) raised prices at the same time across the entire lineup. I've had my mattress for over a year now and I've actually not had any problems with mine at all thus far. To be fair I am single and sleep on the bed alone so perhaps it does not wear down as much. With that said, I would probably check out the warranty information if your mattress sags that much even when not on the mattress. These kinds of prices for a defective mattress are unacceptable for sure. My favorite part of the mattress personally is that it breathes and is the best I've tried at not trapping heat. While it doesn't actively cool like other foam mattresses, it has those air pockets that don't trap heat and that's made all of the difference for me since I'm a big, hot sleeper.

      Thanks so much for watching. I hope the video was able to help you out! Yes, I'm absolutely still using it and it's going strong even after since moving! If you like, you could always take a table leg and prop it up underneath the middle of the desk behind the keyboard as there is room. I haven't seen a need for that so far even after testing my own paranoia and taking a level along the desk just to check. Also remember that this is a solid wood desk and not veneered or particle board, so it's much stronger than most off the shelf desks.

I can tell you I’m very happy with this mattress having slept in it every night since I bought it. I am a larger guy and do usually sleep hot and this mattress has been perfect for me. While it isn’t actively cooling like other foam mattresses, the purple grid breathes and does not trap any heat, giving me a neutral feel all night. Yes some of it is personal preference, and I personally don’t like foam mattresses because I always sleep hot in them, but others may feel different. My favorite part about the purple is the grid that gives more resistance and doesn’t let me sink into it like a foam mattress would. It’s almost like an innerspring mattress that breathes. If you are able to try one out in person I highly recommend it!

    How much weight do you have on the tracks? I want to do this with my digital piano that weighs 42.5 lbs, not including the weight of the shelf.

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The piano is 38 pounds and the shelf is a few on top of that, so not too far off from where you’d be. Main thing to be aware of is support. I have the 2x4s mounted at 4 different spots each with 2 screws at each spot. I haven’t seen any give so far with my setup at this point.

    Hi i am looking for to maybe do something like this. But i have a thinner keyboard so i dont need the log thing you put between the rail and the desk. But i have some questions. First of all whatt for desk are you using, is it ikea or something? and second is if this is in your way for your knees and legs or if it works. And third is if an ikea table like kalby which is 3.8cm thicc and the ground material is chipboard can hold a keyboard and the rail with just some screw or if its unstable.

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for watching! My countertop is an ikea oak Hammarp. Not sure if they are still sold or not. Two ikea Alex drawers on the side. Hasn’t been in my way at all since I added the desk risers. It definitely was in the way before since there was a need for more clearance underneath with the keyboard below. I would definitely use solid wood and not veneered for this application. With the weight of the keyboard hanging underneath, that extra stability definitely helps.

    I was wondering what the size of your desk is. I’m looking to do something similar. Just starting out messing around with music production here and there. I still don’t know a lot regarding that but . I want to end up doing this. My setup is gaming / music production. I was planning on using michals drawer units which are about the same as the Alex drawers. I have 2 monitors and a pair of edifier 1850db and an older klipsch 10 sub. And your desk size looks pretty good although I think I’d need it to be a bit bigger. Anyways enough of my rambling. Any info helps, thanks!

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much for watching! It is 72 inches long on top of two Alex drawers from ikea with furniture legs used as risers. The desktop is solid oak ikea Hammarp. 24 inches deep I believe.

    My concern is that will your arms be parallel to your typing keyboard with the keyboard underneath?Unless the keyboard is pushed in deeper. How have you felt using it ? Ergonomics is crucial to me

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! Mostly I have adjusted my chair to the proper height if need be to make my arms more comfortable to me. The desk is raised with spacers so my legs are able to fit underneath the table and keyboard comfortably. I have been comfortable so far using it. My only issue is my bed is directly behind my desk so I don’t have too much room to adjust my chair around as I play, but that’s a function of the size of my room rather than the desk itself. So far so good!

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for watching! Since I've bought these ( I currently have 7 of them) only one has had problems with LEDs going to the wrong color. Fortunately, I was able to contact Phanteks support and they were able to send a replacement strip that was easy to replace. The frames have screws that allow you to swap out the LED strip for a new one without any trouble. I do still recommend these as I said in the video they "decouple" the RGB from the fan. Most RGB fans have not so great specs, and most great performers have not so great looks. This way you are able to have solid performance with some great looks. I hope this helped you out!

    This is great, was wondering how is this holding up? I'm going to make the exact same setup and it's gonna be screwing inside an ikea karbly. For some reason there's something extremely enerving about having my 38lbs digital piano floating because the desk is particle board. I'm probably going to do what you did but ad even more L brackets, but just curious if you've found this to this day if you still own this setup? Also your desk is 1 inch correct? kinda eyeballing it but i'd be willing to go get solid wood table top at a decent price i've found at homedepot if that is indeed 1" your using. For some reason I thought 3/4 screws would be a bit small for this kind of tray

    • @TechedOff
      @TechedOff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for watching! I still use it today and it hasn’t budged since I installed it. My desk is solid wood but the shelf is particleboard. The l brackets provide plenty of support and I used several on each side spaced out to evenly support the weight. If anything I’d be more concerned about the particleboard shelf than the desk since my desk is solid wood. My desk is indeed one inch thick.
