Sending Crew and Supplies to Station - Life Support 01
มุมมอง 3762 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is the FIRST video in my Life Support series! In this video, I send supplies and a small crew to my first orbital station. This is a Science Mode playthrough using the Thunder Aerospace Corporation Life Support (TAC-LS) mod. The mod adds food, water, oxygen, and electric charge as requirements for Kerbal survival, and there are lots of new parts to play with.

    Sup fellow Kerbal. May I suggest you check out a mod that provides stock-like pieces to build surface stations? It is compatible with the mod you are using for life support too if I am not mistaken. "Nils277's Kerbal Planetary Base Systems mod" it even has greenhouses and its own research stations.

      Your velocity is displayed relative to the object you are orbiting. So when you leave Kerbin’s SOI, your velocity reading changes, to reflect your velocity around Kerbol. Just accelerate back into Kerbin’s SOI.

      There’s an ISRU converter clipped into the bottom of the lander so you don’t see much of it. Theres a small ore container, a couple drills, and plenty of batteries, solar panels, and radiators.

    You're definitely right that the first parts in the airstream suffer the most reentry heating! I would suggest re-entering the plane "belly up" though, as when you nose up normally, the cargo below the plane gets exposed to more heating. If you're upside down though, the wing panels on the top of the plane will shield all your cargo from excessive heating c:

    I love the pistons as landing legs, never even considered it.

    • @TEauxFTW
      @TEauxFTW ปีที่แล้ว

      They work fairly well so long as you have them extended and get the dampening right. Too stiff and the craft crashes, and too loose and they'll fully retract and break.

  • @himanshujangid9493
    @himanshujangid9493 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can try putting some extra fuel and use a fuel cell to generate some more electricity, but I’ve never done it so I’m not sure how much it would be able output.

    • @TEauxFTW
      @TEauxFTW ปีที่แล้ว

      I have definitely done that, but fuel cells consume a decent amount of fuel over long periods of time. Sometimes I include them, but I toggle them off until I actually need them.

  • @tadghie6193
    @tadghie6193 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can connect the torque/motor strength of rotors to an axis action group (like the forward-backwards RCS keys), which should allow you to run them on lower power when you're not carrying a heavy load. The rotor only needs to provide enough torque to counteract the drag on the propellers, and when not carrying a heavy load the propellers will only need to be at a low deployment angle with very little drag to still lift the craft

    • @TEauxFTW
      @TEauxFTW ปีที่แล้ว

      That is pretty clever! I didn't think to reduce torque as a way to reduce power consumption. Deployment angle is tricky too, because it can be hard to find the sweet spot.

    • @tadghie6193
      @tadghie6193 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TEauxFTW I find using the axis groups for deployment angle to also help, since you can adjust how small and slow the change in angle is. I end up tapping it up and down in small increments until I can fly level, and sudden changes in lift aren't really useful for helicopters either (you only really change the lift when taking off and landing, both of which tend to be a bit slow and careful)
