    Thanks for this. I've set up rear mech fine but the app on iphone 6s isn't showing the battery levels. Any idea why Thanks

    At our local Bikes for the World charity, a frame with a stripped crank would be scrapped without being able to salvage cranks or bottom bracket. A tool like this would improve the "harvest" of parts for 3rd world bike programs.

    I have seen other more complicated crank arm pullers. I like this one for its simplicity. As to @jeffjeffjeff's question you can get threadedinserts from J.A. Stein to re-tap and thread in a repair insert. Thanks for the simple solution.

    Hi, we like your jig design, when we built ours we did build one with the hydraulic system but we found that it was difficult to measure the amount of force we had going through the frame, we changed it to the trapezoidal lead screw which gave us much more of a sense of impending frame doom allowing us to stop the pull when needed. We have had great success with it but carbon frames are another beast.

    • @NorfolkCycleWorkshop
      @NorfolkCycleWorkshop หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've stopped using it on carbon frames now, it killed a couple so thought best to try them other ways. I know what you mean with not much feed back. I tend to use it as a last resort & warn the customers of what can happen. Have a bit of a feel for it now & know when poop is about to hit the fan. The thing still scares me and I try to stand well back. Cheers for the comment 👍

    When having a bicycle shop back in the U.S. every once in awhile I'd receive a repair that was with a stuck seat post, so one day I decided to service the seat post and seat tube on every single repair, the cost of this work was adjusted into my servicing charges to the tune of $ 5.00, I'd pull the seat post out clean and lube then clean out the seat tube with an American made flex hone, I tried using the same spring loaded hone as you are using for myself it simply will not do the job as nicely as I would like. I'm now living in Holland and I'll l have a small shop over here and I'm performing this process over here as well.

    Why do the posts seize up so badly? Is it because the alloy post reacts with a steel frame or what?

    Better way . Put old cups in the bottom bracket, place a bar through the cups. Drill a hole in two ceiling joist and hang the frame by the bar through the BB. The bar runs through the hole in two joist. Drill a hole through the seat post from the side. Secure a steel 1” x 1/4” U bracket secured to a slip hammer or secure a 1” round rod to the U bracket. Bolt or weld a plate to the rod. Use a 5 pound weight as a drop weight

    I've used the system for 1,000 miles and I'd say your undestanding is excellent. I adopted pretty much the same mathematical approach. However, I have found that what works in the stand isn't necessarily quite so good under load out on the road. So I make a note whilst out riding of any clicky noises or less than perfect changes and tweak when I get home. Hell I've even tweaked at the cafe stop! One further enhancement is the ability to adjust the 3 settings for each chainring (one setting is for moving between chainrings, and there's a setting each for trimming between the lower 6 cogs and the higher 6 cogs). But you do need Wheeltop to grant you permission to tweak these. Get it right and it's a very sweet system.

  • @dominicbritt
    @dominicbritt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What a debacle… not much cheaper if customers have to send it off to someone to set up😂 Adjusting each rear cog suggests there is something wrong with your cassette, chain, frame or derailleur hanger.

  • @hill160881
    @hill160881 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The problem is no one follows the directions. After pairing you start on page 16 and learn the parts. Like the J adjustment😉. FD install is on pg 37 and 43. It’s simple. RD install and initial alignment is on pg 45. Inter the app and assign the cassette you are using. Now enter initial calibration. Remember that J screw adjustment? How many started there first? Set your J screw per instructions and fine tune in the app. Now exit initial calibration and set the limit screw D minimum. Now shift into the largest cog. Now you adjust the B screw for 8mm clearance from the largest cog. Now set limit screw E maximum. (You may need to enter the app and fine tune this gear now) Now you fine tune the rest of the cassette in the app. It’s not that hard but knowing this process is key.

    that's rather interesting but i wish they made the config file available and editable with a regular computer. those tablets seem to have an operating system update every week, the old programs stop working, and unless you keep an old tablet handy for this it may make adjustments in the future more complicated than they need to be

    Nicely done! I love the espresso tampers and the home made BB and freewheel tools. A few years back I used to work in a coffee/ Bike shop in Denver and the main tamper was from Chris King and made to look like their headsets. Also, Check out EVT for a good stubborn BB cup tool. Theirs threads together to clamp any cup and you can really abuse them. I once had a wrench on it with a 6 foot pipe for one especially stubborn cup. And, as much as I like the home made wheel holder, I tried the Park one and I'm not sold on it. I find it a bit too wobbly. I still haven't found anything more effective that wedging the wheel between my gut and a bench for rotors and cassettes and on my lap for tire installs.
