Putting 34’s on the New GMC Canyon…. Overland Build Part 1
มุมมอง 24K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Welcome to Trail Therapy! In this video we begin the overloading build on my 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 with wheels and tires. I went with the Method Race Wheels 703, featuring their bead grip technology, in a 17x9 -12. paired with Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 285/75/R17, or 34 inches. It definitely didn't go as planned and I had to do a lot of trimming. Next up, rock sliders / running boards, and a lift ...

I would also avoid preload spacers and biy hibachi springs. Use spacers is fine, but I wouldn't do any more than what the bison has. You'll need the differential drop spacers to correct CV angles.
If you buy the 1 inch spacers for your sway bar, it will take way the stiff harsh ride. Every time you lift your vehicle with spacers, you put tension on the sway bars. You want to relieve the tension to bring it back to normal.
You might like ko3's or Hercules tires have best in business warranty they're owned by Mickey Thompson & someone else & have an awesome patent on their rubber compound don't let the name fool ya a lot of serious off-road & on road guys aware by them
Id get some larger brembo or edc brakes to help with stopping the larger heavier wheels & tires
Id add tie rod end sleeves that add a lot of strength so they don't bend easily while off roading or hitting a huge pothole it's a great upgrade to what you have & they only cost about $70 or so
if you ever get a tuner like ex: diablo sport's itune2 or 3 tuner you can fix you speedometer thru the tuner you just input ur new tire size and it'll calibrate the computer & it'll recalibrate the speedometer and also the shift points to the transmission so it'll shift back at the correct rpm's so it wont add strain to ur trans with the added weight at low speeds and it'll give you 5 box tunes from mpg tune to tow tune to speed tunes and xtreme tune.. also hives u acess to everyone elses custom tunes so if u want u can download others custom tunes for ur truck also u can adjust other things to like shift firmness n such which adds life to trans if u tow much with it.. other brands do it also i installed the banks pedal monster and man what a difference it made i will never drive another canyon without the pedal momster you'd be suprised on how much gm restricted the amount and the way it lets the power roll in if u lead foot drive it.. it really a night and day difference especially with bigger wheels
these look amazing on the truck
Just had the same kit installed yesterday. 17x9 with -1 offset. Went with a 285/70 17 and imo it looks amazing. Zero rub in full lock and rides almost as smooth as stock. This video really helped me to make my decision. Thanks.
Awesome! 👍
Question.. can you put them on with the wider part in the rear? Or do they only go on one way?
yes you can reverse them
I got a TB in black, finding this gorgeous blue was about impossible, looks killer!
so sick
Putting all your weight down on the lower control arm will lead to pulling the axle shaft out. It's better to loosen the axle shaft bolt from the spindle to get some more drop out of the lower control arm.
Put the leveling kit on mine, I believe is your tires are too heavy, I don’t have that issue with mine still running 20’s 305/55
Got mine running 20’s 305/55 no level and it works great, thinking on putting 22’s 😂
Looks awesome man, any update on this setup?
Just bought a 23 gmc canyon elevation and bought the CCE 2inch front 1 inch rear leveling kit so i can fit larger tires without having to trim, thanks for the video man it honestly helped alot on deciding where i wanted to go with my overlanding build it sounds like ill be going with 33’s
How are you liking the ride quality now. I'm on the fence still
Picking up my '24 Colorado soon. Did my research and these are the ones I'm installing. BTW: A salesmen showed me the factory running boards and I had to literally place my foot under the edge of the truck to step on them. These appear to have just enough width to cure that.
Hello there, Nice At4 lookss good. Im thinking about buying an at4 in 2025 in sterling silver. Do you think there would be tire rub with the lift kit you installed without carving out some plastic? How do you find the ride compared to stock now that you've had it for a while? And would you uae the same parts all around again? Thanks brother. Bert
As a fellow recording studio guy I love your Focal monitors. I use them myself!! I also am a huge GM fan!
I will never go back to Discount Tire. They had a bunch of weak teenagers working in the back a used putty knifes to remove the balance weights and scratched the black coating off of my concave wheels on my Escalade.
You should have went with 0 or +1 offset wheel with a 275/70/18 and put in a Cognito leveling kit.
Need replacing not need replaced!
Do you think those tires would have fit with that lift but stock wheels?
Nice video. Just subscribed. Hope you get many more.
Looks awesome
I love this video and what you put here and how you produce it! BUT I have to say you should not be under the truck without chocks and jack stands. Those are some basic elements of DIY suspension and related jobs. Maybe I missed that or it wasn't shown but some of the shots I don't see it and it's a bad example.
Thanks for showing these steps, i saw them on Amazon a couple weeks ago and wondered how they would work on my 23 Canyon Denali. I was hoping you were going to stand on them. Im not a big guy, but still wouldnt want them fail.
I went with the NFab rock sliders. twice as much, but they are true sliders. Yours do look sharp
Hey man, have you actually heard of anyone that works on these trucks specifically because every thing I’ve ever searched on TH-cam, is all about tundras and Tacoma and I’m sick of it! like why isn’t there any information on this truck and how to fit 35’s?
There not cheap in price 😂 dude
Very nicee! I ordered mine for a Toyota Tacoma long bed so we will see how well they look on that lol. But I will be doing a TH-cam video as well
Not the AT4
Just get the Elevation
The at4 is a better model 🤦
I bought a 2024 Colorado ZR2 mid March, and am planning on putting 285/75/17's on it using the OEM wheels and offset (to prevent rubbing). Seeing other guys have issues with rubbing, I'm convinced that keeping the OEM offset is key to fitting larger tires without issue. I think that with a little tweaking of the area where the spare is (slotting the tire heat shield mounting holes and insulating it, wrapping the exhaust there with Thermo-Tec, and slotting the hole on the rear tire stabilizer bracket), I can even fit the larger tire under there. It's only an extra 1/2" in tire radius for a ZR2.
Did they fit ?
@@kajuncage9580 Haven't tried yet, been busy. But, I'll post if I do!
So after 6months how are they holding up any rust?
Your problem is you went to “discount tire”damn 😂
U right about discount tire they don't like that they told me it was going to be 500 to mount and balance new wheels and tires.
GMC offering 1.9 apr on the canyon right now. I’m tempted
Crinkle cut? They’re not fries!😂
I work at discount tire, sensors cost 60$ no matter if you buy your tires with them or not, and why didnt you just keep the oem sensors instead of buying new ones?
You've got a really good eye for filming and editing. It makes your videos very entertaining.
We need more content… just picked up a new 2024 GMC AT4 and want to get 33.5” tires too.. im going to go with +1 offset to see if I can avoid rubbing.. i think Ive watched your 2 videos like 20x haha. Love your channel.
Thank you for watching! I’m getting ready to start ramping content back up.
@@TrailTherapyNash awesome!! Love to hear that. What else you got in store for the truck?
No more new videos? I have so many questions on what happened 😂
I know… I was getting into an enormous personal project if you search for Colt Capperrune on TH-cam and check out the last four or five videos you’ll be able to see what was taking 100% of my time lol
Like those shoes / boots. Good tire tips, too.👍
Why? Also those aren’t rock sliders bro, js’n.
Just ordered mine! What wheel specs are you running?? Trying to achieve the same stance on my AT4
Your information, the ability to bring this information across and your production quality are all top notch! Subscribed 😎
Don't do anything else or fool around with replacong those tires until you take it to an alignment shop and have a full alignment done. Even if you removed the front strut/shock assembly and put it all right back together (with no lift kit parts), your alignment is going to be out. And when I say alignment, I don't just mean making sure it drives straight. It throws off multiple things. Great video and music btw
such a sick build
