How to Weave on a Rock in a 2/2 Twill Pattern
Learn the mindful craft of rock weaving with this beginners weaving tutorial.
I love this form of weaving for many reasons. It calms my mind, you can fit all the materials and equipment you'll need in a small pocket making it a great option for impromptu, outdoor or travel weaving, and if you weave on a small rock, you can complete a whole project in a short amount of time.
This video was completely unplanned and filmed on the beach on our recent holiday in Mallorca, the audio recorded on my phone, so the sound quality isn't great, but hopefully passable as I've really enjoyed filming out of the studio in the wild and would love to do more like this!
This tutorial will teach you:
- Basic weaving terminology
- What materials and equipment you will need
- How to put a warp onto a rock
- How to record a 2/2 twill pattern
- How to reverse a 2/2 twill pattern
- How to weave on a rock!
- How to finish your weaving
You will find more off-loom weaving techniques in my book 'Weaving as Art Therapy for Beginners'. This is a self-care workbook to help ease anxiety, stress, and depression. The chapter of nine simple, low-cost therapeutic weaving activities have been co-written with an art therapist, each with a specific aim-including stress relief, letting go of past hurt, boosting self-love, and avoiding burnout.
The book is available as an e-book, Kindle or paperback through the link below:

Coreopsis tinctoria is one of over 75 species in the family Asteraceae. Originally native to the prairies of North America it is now cultivated world-wide and comes in a range of yellows and reds or, like Coreopsis tinctoria, yellow with red centres. As the word ‘tinctoria’ indicates this is a recognised dye plant and although historical reference to it is limited, it is known to have been used...

Yarn Butterflies
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
Yarn butterflies (aka tapestry butterflies) are used in many textile crafts where smaller amounts of yarn are needed. Replacements for bobbins in weaving and colour work in knitting and crochet to name a few. They're also an excellent way of keeping your yarn stash tidy, which is mostly what I use them for. I hope that this short tutorial will help you save a bit of yarn and a lot of mess! Plea...

everything was fine until i removed loops from the top and at that moment it became distaster because everything got loose. on stick it looked awful. I removed and tried to cut uandmake a knot but i lost already which lop to knot or not. I think end needs different solution. how to know the loops to finish composition, drawing or whatever and then to add to stick to hang. Otherwise it's a mess. Everything else was clear and well explained and done. actually both top and bottom needs different solution.
