    You’d be surprised how many football broadcasts do not use sensor-based 1st & 10 (ie: pulling lens data down to a server). Optical-based 1st & 10 is a lot more common these days, especially with REMI’s where the 1st & 10 servers live in Bristol & work multiple games in one day. They get camera 1, 2 and 3 ISO feeds from the venue and ingest them into servers just like you are; no lens data used. Bigger broadcasts also use the optical-based system for odd-ball cameras where pulling lens data isn’t practical (ie: SkyCam, All-22 from a school feed, etc)

    • @jrmvideo
      @jrmvideo 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's definitely surprising to hear! Seems like optical-based tracking is quickly becoming the standard. Thanks for sharing!

  • @kreativekingdommedia

    Are you doing this for only one Camera or can you do that over the entire PGM ?

    • @jrmvideo
      @jrmvideo 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@kreativekingdommedia Great question! I had another segment about the workflow side but ended up cutting it due to time. Long story short, yes and no. The software allows for a single input via the Blackmagic DeckLink Duo capture card we installed. That input is coming from an AUX out on our switcher. So with that aux out, we can virtually send any camera feed possible utilizing bitfocus companion. Our FingerWorks operator will mainly use our CAM 1 feed most of the game for the lines but if the color commentator would like to breakdown a play with telestration, they can easily switch the output of the switcher to send our replay signal into FingerWorks. So you can basically send any camera feed into the software. Hopefully this makes sense!

    • @kreativekingdommedia
      @kreativekingdommedia 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jrmvideo Yes it makes sense. So you have the inputs from FingerWorks over everything. But the First Down and the LOS is created with CAM1 input to ensure you have the overall view of the game from the open shot. But when you go to Replays or annotations then the CAM input is changed, but the FingerWorks "overlay" (keyed) is still over all of them so you don't see LOS nor First Down, but you can still see the telestration from commentators. So at the end it is over the entire PGM or at least on the video layers before the Graphics. Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I've been trying different ways using Unreal Engine and OBS, but this seems to be clever because it still keeps the relative position according to what was drawn. At least for the lines. Which is crucial for the first down reference.

    I have been looking for a bit now for videos on more professional but lower budget side (not like massive television studio setups) like this as I am wanting to start my own live-streaming business with a similar setup. Would I be correct in saying the main fiber cable basically splits out to each camera on each end then you just have the one main cable inbetween?

    • @jrmvideo

      Correct. The only cable we have to run is the main fiber between the press box and trailer. From there, we tie in different camera feeds, fiber adapters and devices.
