มุมมอง 1.3K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this episode, we dive into the exciting project of outfitting our 28-foot enclosed trailer with not one, but two Chinese diesel heaters. Alongside that, we're adding a roof vent, revamping the electrical system, and upgrading the lighting. You'll join us as we install these heaters, run tests to ensure they're working efficiently, and tackle the wiring to get everything seamlessly connected....

We're wrapping up all the loose ends before the crew gets here to start the foundation. Louis is getting good at running the excavator as he continues to move more dirt and dig a huge cut into the hill so we have some clearance around the building site. He also digs an 8' deep trench to connect the well to the house. Finally, we get the septic tank replaced and we roughly grade the site to prep...

    I've been using a Craftsman snow blower for about fifteen years. It still runs good but I'm not thrilled with the challenge of turning it. I've decided it's time for a new one and the Ariens Compact is what I'm getting. Thanks for including your wife in this video.

      yea, it doesnt mean that it cant be done cheaper... but in our area we have high requirements for snow loads which increases the structural cost of the home.

  • @pictureworksdenver

    So basically, when the land value is added to the cost of construction there is a high likelihood that the total cost of the completed project will well exceed its resale market value.

    • @pineandpeak
      @pineandpeak 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That certainly depends... in our area you would likely be even if not slightly positive upon completion. IMO, if they went a bit bigger you could get some more economies of scale in the design which would drop the cost per sqft.

    60-70 lbs isn't much when strong winds come. The wooden base is also non permanent. Given enough time under rain, the base's integrity fails. Becoming a massive safety risk. Assuming no strong winds blow the 70 lb setup off the roof, with average rainfall and humidity, I'd wager the setup will last 16-24 months before the base needs to be replaced completely. It also looks like the wires from the Starlink dish is protected. So those components will experience avoidable wear and tear as well. IMO, way too much risk to place a non permanent structure on the roof. Non permanent structures or objects, have no place on the roof of any home.

    Nice rig! I have a ‘57 and a ‘60 Willys CJ5’s that are both being restored or rebuilt. I thought I heard you say early on that it was running warm. I noticed you have an aftermarket upper radiator hose. I suggest you get an OEM style for both upper and lower to avoid pinching off like your upper hose is doing. Cheers and hope you have a blast tooling around!

I'll just say that Ariens is a top shelf manufacturer of residential style snow throwers and so in that regard, you made the best choice given what you knew at the time of purchase.

    Excellent review! You're absolutely correct about the battery snow blowers, they do underperform. I have the Ego mower, trimmer, blower, and work light and absolutely LOVE them. Last year I purchased their 24" 2-stage snow blower and returned it after using it twice. I have a 40' × 20' driveway and 80' of sidewalk. It took me over an hour to snow blow 18" of wet, heavy snow. My 10amp batteries were flashing red and I had to recharge to finish. I was hopeful it would be great.. but it wasn't. I spent the extra money and bought the Ariens Deluxe Pro 32" EFI. An absolute work horse!!!

    I literally bought this model from lowes today and had to go back and return it. I got it gassed up, checked oil and got her fired up then i started hearing the drum and auger spinning without even pressing down the initiating handle! Then i started seeing white smoke coming out of the bottom smelling like the belts burning up. When i brought it back, lowes was like "Its normal for it to smoke a little" and im like ok? is it normal for the auger to spin without even pressing the handle? NO! So disappointed

      I see that happening quite often., The belt and pulley are not adjusted correctly., That's why the auger was spinning. Before it was engaged., The belt was so tight. It was smoking., It's a very easy fix., Anyways, glad you got another one.

    Nice little snowblower. I love the sound of a small engine. Im in quebec and we get lots of wet snow and a electric 2 stage bogs down on wet snow. Like you im sticking with a gas one. I have a older 2009 ariens 1028 dle pro and its still going strong 15 years later.

    Only a $100 more could've got you the Deluxe 24. A bigger, better 254 cc engine that you can throttle down, larger 16 inch tires, larger 14 inch augers and impeller, led headlight, dual impeller belts, cast iron gear case. It's heavy tho, weighing in at 250 lbs I was going to purchase this same snowblower last November, but I found out that the Deluxe 24 was only a bill more, so that's the one I purchased.

    • @scrambler69-xk3kv
      @scrambler69-xk3kv 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Should never run a gas engine at part throttle. Even in the cold it is working hard and it needs the cooling fan to run at max speed.

    • @jamesorsby7553
      @jamesorsby7553 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scrambler69-xk3kv I didn't mean to throttle the engine down while you're actually using the snow blower. The Ariens Compact doesn't give you the option to throttle the engine down when its not working...it always going full throttle. The Ariens Deluxe models has a throttle control to idle the engine if needed.

    • @bwillan
      @bwillan 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My thoughts exactly. I got myself a Deluxe 24 for this season, and have only used it twice on some wet snow. It works great. But I picked the Deluxe 24 for all the reason you mentioned vs its competition and as a replacement for my old under powered 179cc MTD brand 24" snowblower. The 250 pound weight of the Deluxe isn't much of an issue with the auto turn.

    • @jamesorsby7553
      @jamesorsby7553 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bwillan I haven't used mine at all this winter, because it just refuses to snow in Chicago anymore. I've haven't used my snowblower in the last 2 winters, and if I don't use it this winter, it'll be 3 winters. I might just have to buy a single stage Toro, and sell my Ariens, because it's overkill at this point. BTW... We've already had over 60 degree days this month and a 70 degree day is a few days away.

    • @pineandpeak
      @pineandpeak 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep that's true however the costs in excavation really just come down to how much dirt you need to move and the complexity of the situation. On our case a larger machine was necessary due to the high amount of heavy boulders. And nearly 40 trees that had to be taken down and moved around. As a result the main increase is just scope, sometimes you don't know how much you need to move around until you get into it.
