    From now on I’ll never record my voice. I can now see why people have made remarks about my voice in the past, because it sounds weird.

    Yeah, for many years I didn’t realise this and when I found out I wasn’t happy. The way my voice sounds to others is likely very odd then. I never knew for years that it’s how I sound to others, I just used to assume that I sounded like that in recordings but not in real life but I’m guessing my belief was wrong all this time.

    I made it thru all that peliminary hearing yourself getting used to hearing it, for years Ive struggled to find my sweetspot, MY STYLE. mY only way I can sing God, because no other style works for me..................... then my freind textx me after hearing my latest song, says ..........that sounds really good good riffs best ive ever heard you do, you just need a good singer now. ...that statement has slowly cut deep over the last 6 months or so. when your very best friend thinks you suck, it kinda takes some of your drive awaY. So the next song i kept the vocals way back. barely audioable.

    why would you ever try and pigeonhole your sound to one thing? seems like an absurd concept. just make what you like to make, listen to things that inspire you, be experimental in your taste and style and f*** any metric besides "do i enjoy doing it?"

    back in the 80s, i got into playing guitar and that intro me into music. Of course, i started to try singing and thought I'm a bad singer. I can't compare to real singers. But, i like writing and singing my own songs. Recording on cassettes. Later uploading on yt. One thing is that nobody really complimented me on my singing except for this guy online who was angry with me for trying to steal his ex. He check out my videos and said, i got talent. I guess, if even your enemy think you have talent. I'll take that. Anyway, like you said, i've been recording my own voice and making videos uploading on social media. I still am not as good as real singers, but i always like listening to myself, trying to improve. In the end, just have fun.

    What I wish ALL of you TH-camrs would learn is this: That foamy thing over your microphone IS NOT A POP FILTER. Also, 99% of you, including here, are speaking too close to your mikes. Make the "hang five" sign - that distance between your thumb and your pinky is pretty much the distance your mouth should be away from the microphone.

  • @YippeeSkippie426
    @YippeeSkippie426 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

    What you ALL who hate your voice need to remember is this: EVERYONE has been listening to what you sound like for all of this time. They don't hate your voice, they like it. They're familiar with it. And that's the key he's talking about here - familiarity. Just get over yourself by knowing these things and get busy. You'll love your voice in no time. As for microhpones for home recording, do NOT get a condenser microphone because it will pick up every noise available. Rather, get a SHURE SM57 - about $80 - and a small pop filter. NOT that foam wind-screen; but an actual pop filter (look it up). You'll need a really good preamp to get some gain, but it's more directional and will by its nature cut out a lot of background noise. After you position the pop filter about 3 inches in front of your microphone, make the "hang five" sign -- that distance between your thumb and your pinky is pretty much the distance your mouth should be away from the microphone. You're welcome.

    Good video man! It's all on point, as someone who hated their voice until 2016 when I finally started making youtube videos. I would listen to the videos over and over to make sure it was good enough, and eventually I just got completely used to it. That's just the "recording version of me". I've luckily generally been complimented on my voice from women though, so it was probably easier to overcome the hatred of some of the weird things about my voice, or ways I talk. I think everyone can learn this appreciation for one's own voice though simply from repetition. I still haven't overcome this for singing though... meanwhile I've had multiple girlfriends tell me I have an amazing voice for singing when I'm drunk enough to actually do it lol maybe one day I will record my voice singing more and get over it. Living in apartments makes it way too nerve wracking though. I know my neighbours can hear through the walls and have no desire subjecting them to that lol

    I swear the people around me keep me going cuz sometimes I hate making music ... it's sucks cuz music is me.. people can say 2 words and I start singing a song lol my girl be like you got a song for everything.. I literally remember my dad telling me at the bus stop like in '04, "you can remember them lyrics but not yo spelling words".. like music is what keeps my heart beating .. wen errbody leaves and you are alone it's a song somewhere out there that expresses your pain in detail and if not make it yourself.. this is literally how I vent and it's my outlet... but at times I hate this shit... I got an album called "Vents & Outlets" coming soon fwm..
