I am Glad to see your project coming along so well. Wish I could say the same for mine. I am working to get mine into my shop so I can replace the frame head. Alabama is a little warm this time of year for some reason. Once I get it road worthy I intend to start on my fast back. I am looking forward to that but a little intimidated too. I have to fab up a trunk floor (rear around engine ) I’m not a sheet metal guy but I have stayed at a holiday inn express before so I guess I’ll pretend to be for a while. Enjoy the videos thanks

I recommend to have extras of roll pins. You will lose them especially the more times you get back into the door. Drill bits work in a pinch,cut to size.

Just an observation concerning the notching of the spring plates…. If I did it I would then weld on a reinforcement plate below the notch if that’s a concern! Is there a clearance problem?

I stumbled on your channel after jumping into the VW world with both feet and probably head first. I bought a 74 standard beetle and a 71 fastback. Both are in fairly good shape the Bug needs a frame head and a few minor repairs. They both have been sitting for a 15yrs or more. I have started the Bug, it sounds good. I am picking up a good bit of knowledge watching your videos. Just wanted to say thanks for your time. I live in Alabama so I understand the heat and humidity you are dealing with

Excellent news, love the beetle content. One thing I’d really like to understand in detail is how to set the rear torsion tubes e.g. inner / outer spline relationship if starting with everything out (or more likely if you pull it all out when trying to remove the spring plate)
