  • Hopefully this video will provide a baseline of information for building a rotisserie for your Volkswagen Beetle or Karmann Ghia. The dimensions will vary slightly between models but the general concept will work for all years of standard beetles and ghias.

Thanks. Gotta consider doing this for my restoration. I could also see it being helpful for painting the car. After David finishes the bug, you should do a final video on it for the Playlist.

Awesome, I was looking at that thing. I see that it attaches to the heater channels, and that would help to line up the heater channels when installing new ones. They will be in the same place as the old ones and they will line up with the floor pans

Looks great, I have a Super Beetle that needs heater channels and floors.
I need to see how the front of super beetle is supported.

Looks awesome, I think I’ll try my hand at building one! I might add a pendulum with weights to counter the top heaviness though. I saw the video where it went over on you. Don’t want to scare myself in that way. 😅

Thanks for the video. That is a very handy tool to have when doing significant body work. I guess one of the draw backs is that it does not collapse for better storage when not in use?

Awesome video, @callahansgarage! Thanks for sharing the design. Have you ever thought of using hatchback gas struts to keep it from rotating or tipping too fast?

I'd be curious to see how you got the body up on there to mount it to the rotisserie.

My boys & I are in East Tennessee, we all have bugs need full resto I’m building my rotisserie modeled after yours. I love the design. I figured out the troublesome curve in the top posts. Do you have contact info? I would like to share my pics.

I just love all your VW Beetle videos and am in the process of building a rotisserie. I cut two 47''' mid supports and the back one fit just fine but when I went to bolt the mid front support it came up a little longer by an inch or 2 so I will need to recut it. Is my car just messed up or are both of your mid supports 47 inches? Not sure if it makes a difference but the car I am building this for is a 67 Beetle Sedan. Thanks and awesome video......Ron
