No dealership is going to commit to numbers over the phone. If you're not sitting in front of them they won't take you seriously. They figure that you're just going to take their number and use it against another dealer. Check dealer incentives, buyer incentives, special finance rates etc. check invoice price then make a reasonable offer in person. Knowledge is power when shopping for a car. Show them you're serious by showing up in person. They are much more motivated and won't want to let you walk out if it's a fair deal for them and you. That's on new cars. Buying used from a dealer is a whole other thing. Buy private if buying used whenever possible.

Dealers have gotten used to asking for someone’s monthly and reaming them on the purchase price. They also get kick back from the loan servicer. They hate cash buyers and OTD negotiators

11:46 when buying a brand-new car there are 5 important PLAYERS in this all (1) the vehicle buyer [client] ; (2) the negotiator [Tomi / Delivrd / CarEdge] ; (3) the salesman ; (4) the sales-manager ; (5) the dealer-principle [person who bought the cars off the car brand/manufacturer]. The sales-manager is like the muscular security-guard who is loyal to the house owner (the dealer-principle), and the salesman is like a young-teenage-dude standing at the entrance & opening the metal-gate & letting you in. 1 is simply paying 2 an amount of $ _ , _ _ _ to go and deal with 3 and 4 so that 1 does not have to do all that heavy lifting

This pos wasting these sales rep’s time . Not even buying. The reason why he’s not getting definitive answers is because he hasn’t even taken the time to show up. Dealerships know anyone who calls with BS questions like this are just using their numbers to work a deal elsewhere.

I had a dealer tell me 9 out of 10 people walking thru the door haven't done their homework and don't know what the actual dealer cost is. I did do my homework and he says we normally send you away but my sale would put them over 10 sales for the month and that he would get a higher commission once he sells 10 cars so he took my low offer, works for me...

I have never negotiated fees or add ons.....OTD price only, this salesman is new to the game, the broker was good....straight to the point, no small talk.....can you do this or not....the way they structure it makes no difference if the price you pay is where you want it to be... destination is already factored into the MSRP

i just walk and thank them for their time politely (they hate it), so so many dealerships out there, to waste energy arguing isnt worth my time or the need to be right....find one who wants to play ball....simple as that have 2 or 3 deals already to go so you can just bounce to another if needed you can take any finance deal and just pay it off in a month or refinance it, problem solved.........easiest way to receive incentives for financing thru dealerships.....beat them at their own game

I was looking around for a used Honda FIT, found a 2016 with 80+ thousand miles and they wanted $17000 WITHOUT all the fees ETC ETC...I pointed out to them that that car sold NEW for $18000. So it had depreciated $1000 in 8 years. Long story short, I got them down to $15500 including the fees but I told them I wanted them to change the transmission fluid since it was a CVT with 80,000 miles on it. They said they would talk to the service dept on monday. They called monday afternoon and said the car had been sold.

We recently paid 34500 OTD for a AWD EX, no ads in central TX. Most dealers added bogus fees.

I’m a sales representative. I got a call like this. Customer was looking at a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4XE. It was priced online for $45,500 (before tax, tags and other fees). He was wanting to be out the door at $43,000. Saying the other dealership was offering $44,500. I asked to see a worksheet or at lease some confirmation that it was something the dealership was offering him. He didn’t give me information and either way it was something that isn’t even possible. I told him we couldn’t do it. He told me have a great day and I said the same.

Salespeople are useless, only deal with sales manager.
