I Finished The Off Grid Log Cabin Walls With Hand Tools & Building Porch Columns | EP17
Hello my dear friends!
After one year of work, I finished the walls of the log cabin and built the columns that support the logs that extend from the walls from the front of the log cabin.
In the next episode, I will be building a roof structure from round logs as well. There is still a lot of work to be done and I am very excited to share it with you! Subscribe to my channel so you don't miss out on new videos! It will also help me a lot! Thanks!

More about me:
When I was 20 years old, I dropped out of college and said to myself that I will do what I really want and what I see meaning in. So I decided to build my dream log cabin, all by myself, in the middle of an off-grid bush.
After I left school, I went to work for a while to earn money for trees and hand tools. I spent all the money I earned and my savings on it. Thank God, I already owned the land I have - I got it from my dear parents as a gift and I also bought another part of the land with my own money.
I chose a log cabin for my home because I like it. I build it with the vision of living a simple and peaceful life in it. Having time is more important to me than having money. Of course, nowadays a person cannot live without money, but I would like to live in such a way that my expenses are not so high and thus reduce the need for money. I want to have time not only for myself, but also for my future wife and children. That's why I will try to build the most self-sufficient life possible, in which my own housing, in my case a log cabin, will be the heart of this system.
I use hand tools because they are my favorite. There is beauty in simplicity.
Working with hand tools has several advantages: You are able to work off-grid, the entire set of tools you need can fit in one bag, there is better safety when you work alone, you don´t make too much noise when you´re working... so I enjoy it more and I believe you will too, while watching :)
Sometimes you will still see me use power tools for some things where I can't avoid it completely, such as drilling through metal roofing or welding, but otherwise I will always try to use primarily hand tools.
My dear father is a carpenter. I remember that most of the things he taught me while working with wood were precisely while working with hand tools, which required the most attention and practice from me.
My father taught me how to work with wood from a young age, but I have no experience with building a log cabin, so I'm learning everything as I go, and I'm looking forward to what this experience will teach me.
It may not seem like it, but it was a big struggle to get this opportunity to be able to work on my dream, but I finally did it and for that I am incredibly grateful. I also started this TH-cam channel where I share my entire journey, so if you are interested, you can check it out. There is no one behind the camera, so I do all the filming and editing myself. I would also be very grateful if you would support my journey by subscribing or sharing, if you want to.
Thank you for being here, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you're watching. I will try to make videos as best as I can, so that you get the greatest enjoyment from them.
Thank you all for your attention. Enjoy!

มุมมอง 288Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Hello my dear friends! After two and a half months, finally another episode. I'm sorry for keeping you waiting for so long, several things happened, thank God nothing serious. For instance my camera fell from the cabin to the ground while filming and it broke, so I had to get a new one quickly. Anyway, I was really looking forward to finally sharing this episode with you because in this episode...
Walls Are Almost Done! One Man Building LOG CABIN in Off Grid Bush | EP 15
มุมมอง 134K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello my dear friends🙂 I just finished the 10th row of logs and now I only have to finish the last 3 rows! The gaps you may have noticed on the walls are there because some logs are too short, so I made gaps on the walls where the windows and doors will be in the future. I have to say that scribing a wall with gaps takes much more time than scribing a log that is in one piece, because it takes ...
I'm Building This Cabin Porch on my Off Grid Land & Building the Main Log House | EP14
มุมมอง 186K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello my dear friends🙂 I decided to build a covered front porch on the small cabin so that I can have a place where I can have a table and where I can eat or sharpen tools, etc. Since the roof is bigger, now I will also collect more rainwater, which I currently use mainly for watering the paulownia trees - the world's fastest growing trees which I planted in episode 12. I bring drinking water i...

มุมมอง 153K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello my dear friends🙂 In this episode I started lifting heavy logs using a system I saw on Erik Grankvist's channel. Erik is a great inspiration for me. I've made two more rows of logs since the last episode so a total of 8 rows of logs are done and I still have another 5 rows of logs to go. In the small house, I moved the bed down because it was too warm upstairs. In the next episode I will b...

Thank you all for the positive comments. I appreciate it very much. I would also apprec...

Hello my friends🙂 I am building this small house so that I can stay on my off grid property where I'm building the main log cabin from big round logs. In this episode I finish the cabin interior which is only 4m² (43ft²). I managed to put a bed, a kitchen, an armchair, a stove, and a small bookcase in this space. I placed the armchair under the bed and there is room for one more armchair. It's ...

I've noticed that you're definitely not scared of hard work. I was stunned by what you've achieved with such a simple, limited tool kit. I take my hat off to you. I'm an Australian who has lived in an out of Latvia over the past decade. I will be returning to Latvia in about 18 months from now and I intend buy off-grid land and build my own place. I've never done it before, so I'll be getting the experience as I go. I have zero carpentry skills to speak of. I will be learning from square one.

In a nation full of Mansion trash and trillions of mortage debt, it is good to see people, especially younger ones, CREATE what is NEEDED: Shelter. No showy display to impress people who couldnt care less, but "seeing" betond the insanity that has become our world that is self-imploding due to believing Gucci cares about you!

Matt, for the sections between the windows and doors what is holding the logs together besides weight? Is there a long dowel in those sections? I know u put them in towards the ends when building the walls, but curious whats holding the middle now that its open on either side. Cabin is awesome btw!!

Bravo! I'm a bit late to the party, but wow, you are impressive. Your hands must be strong with no gloves on. Seeing some of your tools reminds me of my grandfather...he had the same. You're doing so well. How large is this cabin? Are you from Crotia ? I subscribed. I really want to see how it looks finished. Not only are you a carpenter, but you can cook as well! I wish you all the joy and happiness. Dan from Pennsylvania.
