Mathias, As a recently retired carpenter and business owner I am thorougly impressed by both your abilities and work ethic. Kudos to you young man for taking on this project and learning as you go. To do this work the "old School" way with hand tools makes it that much more impressive, keep up the good work and keep the videos coming..
It is utterly fascinating watching you craft your cabin as pioneers the world over would have done. What's more impressive is the fact that in present times you did not have to commit to building a cabin with a limited number of hand tools! You could have either purchased a kit and simply put it together. Or you could have utilized power tools to speed the process up considerably. I hope your parents and grandparents realise just what a talented craftsman you truly are. They should be extraordinarily proud of just what a you are achieving. A quite intimidating task for someone so young to commit to. I watch you with ore, totally convinced you will indeed achieve your goal and complete the cabin that has been built with such love and respect for a bygone craft. You give us, the viewer a window into a bygone age, where time in your part of the woods has come to a standstill.❤
Hey from Tom in Edmonton Alberta Canada. This 100% total city guy, 69 years old that has super trouble & really no patience with putting g together even the basic stuff from IKEA I am so blown away & can't stop watching in utter amazement the entire process that just keeps going & going, far outpacing the Energizer Bunny! LOL! The serenity of your property is mesmerizing. I was always so worried for you that a bear was going to suddenly appear. This, you, the whole process, man, truly rocked. I'd be to terrified to be able to spend even one night out there wondering g about bears but also people just appearing. That even freakier than the bears to me! LOL. I subscribed cuz this is so so peaceful, & I feel the moment you are achieving! For that I really want to to say THANK YOU, & just give you a huge, friendly bro hug!
Hello my dear friends 🙂 Thanks for the nice comments on the previous episodes. I'm glad you enjoy the videos! I would also appreciate a lot if you can support my channel by subscribing! th-cam.com/channels/4R2psHs0FQP7f2LRaS36ZA.html I finished shooting this episode yesterday. In the video I finish the fourth course of logs. I can't sleep in the tent I have in the winter because I can't put a stove in it. And that's why I'm starting to build a very small and simple new cabin where I'll only have a stove, a table and a bed. This way I can stay on my property and the work will go faster and the videos will be more frequent. Enjoy🌲
Good afternoon, you chop perfectly, in Russian, into a cup. Just like we do in Russia in our grandfather’s/father’s way. Advice: don’t continue cutting and lifting logs alone - it’s hard for one, you’ll dislocate your back vertebrae and get hemorrhoids)) (call the men from the nearest village, pour a hundred grams of whiskey, they’ll help...). And first the roof. Then the floor is covered with joists/beams, you can run on them... Make a false floor underneath, either from plywood or anything else, then a layer of glass wool/insulation so that mice don’t run around and your feet are warm (well, something like that). Well done! Normal guy! Good luck!!
Great work as ever Matthias, good idea to build a cabin on site to use as a temporary home, and rest area to use as a shelter from rain, and a place to cook your meals too. And also a bonus for us, will be more videos. Awesome. 🖖👍
Well, against all odds, you've sucked me in. I gotta see how this goes. Looking forward to how you're going to put in the upper logs and then the roof. Hope it all works out well.
I can see the logic in staying on site & good luck with that, I know working on your own like that can be difficult but you are doing ok so stay safe & again good luck 👍👍👍
This is another of your great Videos! You have a great deal of patience for someone as young as you are! You take care of making sure, that everything goes into place as perfectly, as you can! The Cabin that you are building will survive the test of time! Your entire Family has to take pride in you!!😊😊😊
Matthias, I am deeply impressed by your video and your text. What is done and what is written is thrill by the transparency and beauty of being. We are in the middle of a crisis of civilization: ideas, beliefs, laws, institutions, leaders... All those pillars and beams are weakened. Criticism, recriminations, searching for culprits, is childish and hypocritical. We have to bond, repair links between us and with our environment. Big money and pompous academic titles will not help us; We will only count on what we are, with what we can do, and with a heart that, by loving, connects with others and with everything. That is your testimony, that is your greatest value. Thank you.
God Bless any younger person from today's time frame who will take on such a laborious task. You just don't see this type of initiative and dedication from the vast majority of today's youth. Grand Job Young Man! You are definitely a credit to your generation and willingness to venture on in "the old ways" is definitely heart warming God Bless and Best of Luck!

Awesome work! You are so very thorough. This is going to be the best built cabin on TH-cam. I’m actually inspired by what you are doing at such a young age (or so you appear to be early 20s if that). You already know more about building at your age than I do at 53. Your respectful approach is amazing also. Keep up the good work! We subscribed and look forward to your videos.
Your videos are that of a dying art. You make it look so easy but I can imagine the bull work that is involved in creating a log cabin with a select number of hand tools. Keep up the amazing videos.
Great stuff again. Piece by piece it comes together. Not easy working in this season either, with short daylight hours and wind and rainfall. But still, you are inching ahead. Better times are coming. The available light improves every day now. Imagine where you will be by Spring time and then how much better it will be with working conditions. I shall keep following. Cheers.
i was one of 3 people who were tasked with the assembly of your scribe!!! i no longer work there but yea haha cool to see you using a tool that i may have built..lol
As your using hand tools for this cabin I would strongly suggest getting yourself a flat faced axe I don't know the name but it is a small handled broad faced axe which has one side depending if your right or left handed flat and one side normal looking and it's used to face rough wood
You are an extremely talented young man - both your skill with wood and at video production. Well done! I enjoy your videos very much. Hello from Wisconsin, USA
Hello there brother I just got to watching your channel because I have been looking on how to build a traditional log cabin im starting my build soon got to pick out some tree get them on the ground and so on I think a short handle double bit maybe a 3 1/2 lbs sager warren would make prepping those logs up a joy to do for you ❤
Thank you for making these very interesting and relaxing (to the viewer lol) videos! You are carrying on with work on a par with Dick Proenneke. Did you try roughing out the end notches with a saw to get the bulk of material removed prior to shaping with the broadax? Maybe the cut angles and arcs make it unfeasable. I like the use of brace and bit for driving screws, a 'yankee' push driver would also be good for tight areas. I was thinking that if you were previously a power tool user, it must have been a big adjustment in patience and physical endurance! I admire your skills and tenacity sir!
Really an awesome work you are doing, I love the way you are working with the tools and devices. Simply, calm and amazing, I just love it ❤. Congrats and have an excellent and happy new year 2024! 👏👏🇨🇭

Why do you peel the logs twice?
For the first time, I took off the bark. Then the wood dried up and turned gray. I peel it a second time to make it bright again and this time I varnish it straight away because it was not possible before because the wood was fresh.
вот какнужно строить деревянные дома учитесь современные строители сосвоими новыми технологиями
If you add a mailing address to your channel header you would likely get things sent you to help with the build.
Why cant you put a stove in your tent?
Because it's a summer tent, and it has a lot of vents where the cold gets in.
Why not get a hot tent? Would it have been that much more expensive than the materials to build the little cabin?
But why not use power tools and stop with the struggle?
Who says I struggle with it? I enjoy working with hand tools my friend :)
