what i read in june | middle-grade, YA, and sci-fi
มุมมอง 279ปีที่แล้ว
Hello! How are you? I hope you're well! I'm pretty good myself, thanks for asking! Here is another reading wrap-up! I seem to have settled into a pace of around 15 books a month... that's pretty good, I can't lie. But I am forever chasing the coveted 26 books I read in one month back in January. I hope you enjoy watching this video, and there will be another one next month with all the books I ...

Hello, I hope you're well! Here's a (not so) little reading vlog I recorded a few weeks ago that I just got around to editing. I hope you enjoy it :) Anyway, sub if you feel like it. my summer TBR | sci-fi, big books, and non-fiction
มุมมอง 248ปีที่แล้ว
Hello! I hope you're doing well! I'm doing pretty okay myself :) Here is a little summer tbr video! I've been thinking a lot about what I want to read this summer now that I'm finally finished my degree. I have much more free time than I'm used to, and I think the best thing to do is fill that time up with reading! I've got a few genre/category goals and some top priorities. I thought y'all mig...

Hello! I hope you're doing well! I'm doing pretty good myself :) Here is another monthly reading wrap up! Every month I hope I can match my January mania of 26 books, but it seems like I just keep trending downwards... Still, I read 15 books last month, which is pretty good if you ask me! I hope you enjoy the video! Anyway, sub if you feel like it. It'd be pretty rad if you did.
what does an english major read? | first year
มุมมอง 158ปีที่แล้ว
Hello! How are you? I hope you're well :) I'm doing pretty well, thanks for asking! Here is a little video I made talking about the books I read for my very first university English class! I thought this might be useful for future or current English majors, but I also thought anyone could watch this to get some recommendations if they wanted to! In this video, I'm only going over what I read fo...
bookshelf tour | 500+ books!!!
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
Yay, bookshelf tour!!! I always love watching these videos, so I decided to make one of my own. Sadly, this iteration of my bookcases won't exist much longer because I'm moving into my sister's bedroom when she moves out. I'm excited to see how my new space looks when it's all done, but I'm sad to be leaving this set up behind. It's done me well over the past several years and I love it so much...
a little book haul | 6 used books + how i organize my TBR
มุมมอง 251ปีที่แล้ว
Here is just a quick little video I decided to make yesterday! This book haul is not as impressive as my last one in terms of volume, but I did come across some great finds at the thrift store that I wanted to share. I also decided to show you how I keep track of my TBR. It's quite long, so I need to make sure I know what I still need to read! Anyway, sub if you feel like it. It'd be pretty rad...
reading vlog 2 | a week in my life
มุมมอง 372ปีที่แล้ว
Hello! How are you? I'm doing well, thank you :) So, this was supposed to be a grand reading vlog, but I feel like there's not much actual reading in it. It sort of became a general weekly vlog. Well, I hope you enjoy it anyway... Anyway, sub if you feel like it. It'd be pretty rad if you did.
what i read in april | mythology retellings and short book recommendations
มุมมอง 159ปีที่แล้ว
Hello! How are you? I'm doing fantastic, thanks for asking! Here is another monthly-reading wrap up! This month I'm down to 16 books :( Don't get me wrong, that's a lot of books, but it feels like a steep downward progression from the 26 I read in January! I hope you like the video! I really enjoy making these and I'm already looking forward to doing my May wrap-up :) Anyway, sub if you feel li...
an insanely huge book haul | 28 new and used books
มุมมอง 860ปีที่แล้ว
Hi, are you doing good? I hope you are :) I'm doing just fine, thanks for asking! This book haul got a little out of hand, I won't lie. I finished my bachelor's degree last week and went on a book shopping spree with a couple of friends, and I did not hold back. This is really just me showing off what I bought... If you want to know what I think of these books you'll have to wait and see when t...
what i read in march | 17 books
มุมมอง 118ปีที่แล้ว
Hi, how are you? I'm doing fantastic :) Here is my (later than it should be) March reading wrap up! It seems I'm slowly declining in speed... From 26 to 18 and now down to 17 books... Still a lot of reading! I'm so happy to share with you the books I read in March! Keep your eyes open for a book haul coming soon and maybe some videos about the books I read for my (recently completed) English de...
catching up and getting sick | reading vlog
มุมมอง 546ปีที่แล้ว
Hi :) How are you? I'm doing good... well I am now. I was doing horrendously whilst filming this video. This is a little (if forty minutes is little) vlog of my weekend of reading. I really thought I was gonna pop off and read, like, ten books but then... I got sick. Nevertheless, I managed to do a good bit of reading (and resting!), and I hope you enjoy this vlog! Anyway, sub if you feel like ...
how i write essays as a fourth-year english major
มุมมอง 89ปีที่แล้ว
Hello, how are you? I hope you're well :) This 45 minute nightmare is a record of my writing process. I wanted to capture what it's like to be a student, what it's like to write a paper, in the most honest way possible. This is my little time capsule for after a graduate in a month! Also, I thought this might be useful to other students out there. Maybe my crazy process is relatable, or maybe s...

Hello! How are you?? I'm doing well, thanks for asking :) I went a little crazy again in February and read 19 books :/ It's not quite 26, but it's still quite a lot! This was a pretty good reading month; I really liked lots of the books I picked up, including ones for class (which is rare). I hope you enjoy watching this video, and et me know if you do! what i read in january (26 books a 2014 renaissance)
❤❤❤😊
I love that set up and the shelves they all look beautiful well done you have done a grand job :)
i love your categorizing system it is very similar to mine! i put any book that was published before ww2 in my regular classics shelf, anything that was released after ww2 but before the 90s is classified as a modern classic, and all the remaining books are contemporary. this is just the system i made up rather than looking it up on goodreads/other websites because they are inconsistent most of the time.
i miss u i hope ur wellll
You should make some little divider signs for the genre sections, like at a library! You spent so much time and effort separating them out. It made me very glad my books are just sorted by vibes, lmao. I only have about 250 though, so they're still pretty easy to keep straight in my head and know where things are without an intense organization system.
ridiculously jealous of ur setup
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read. Isaiah 34:16
Looks so comfy!
I love your room!
lovely
Just found your channel and I love your vibe! 💕
Can you do a full room tour?
I love your entire room in general!! So cute and spacious. I wish it was my room. Lol
Beloved is one of my very favorite books. From Salman Rushdie, you might like the collection of his short stories titled East, West.
Lovely! ☮️🧡📚
I loved how everything turned out! Your aesthetics are so pleasing, keep up the amazing work! 💖📚 I have a personally fun question for you. Which popular genre do you prefer the most?: Romance or literary fiction?
Thanks <3 Generally, I prefer literary fiction day to day. I don't read a lot of romance. I have to be in the mood for it. Literary fiction is more my taste, but sometimes it can be too much. When I want something just purely fun and escapist, I reach for romance :)
Just wondering, do you end up having to dust your books constantly? I just bought 2 Ikea Billy bookcases but WITH doors because I wanted to protect them from dust and not have to be dusting constantly, just occasionally. Ofcourse they cost much more than without the doors.
I find that when the sides of the shelves are closed and you don't have them right on the edge of the shelves they don't really get super dusty. I also regularly reorganize and just moving them a bit from time to time usually is all I need to do to prevent dust build up
I do actually really love the look of bookshelves with doors tho
I only dust the books and shelves when I'm dusting everything else, like I don't need to make special effort to keep my books from getting super dusty. They do get dusty, though, just not enough to bother me. And like @pretentioussunshine6886 has said, the books get moved around a bit when I buy new ones or when I'm choosing what to read which helps the dust from building up too much :)
Love how your shelves turned out! and I appreciate your murakami collection, he’s one of my favorite authors so i recognized those spines right away lol
Really enjoyed this one! Super relaxing and also a bit motivating to get me to rearrange my books again.
😍📚
Love iit !!
I love the whole set-up!! It's so beautiful and cozyy!!
Congratulations!
i love your channel! & i'm so convinced that it's going to grow so much so soon. for now, i feel glad to have found a bit of a hidden gem. 🤍
any book recommendations for a young book reader but not too young? ( preferred romance)
Hmmm, that's a good question. I don't read a lot of romance targeted to younger audiences, or romance in general. I'll just rattle off a few YA authors I like who write books with romance as a pretty heavy focus. I really like Nicola Yoon, who wrote The Sun is Also a Star, and Everything Everything, both of which I mentioned in this video. I also remember really enjoying Simon Versus the Homo Sapiens' Agenda. I'm in love with Alice Oseman and the Heartstopper series if you're into graphic novels. Adam Silvera also has a spot in my heart. Everyone always talks about his book They Both Die at the End, but I remember really liking his other books as well. Oh, and John Green is always good for a romantic subplot.
I'm doing great and I hope you are too! I enjoyed Wilder Girls sooo much up until the ending too! I want a sequel so bad but I think I've seen somewhere Rory Power is done with that universe :(
awe, that's too bad!! I totally would have read a sequel :(
Is that chair by the book case a cozy chair to read in. I’m in the search for a good chair for reading
yeah, it's the poang from ikea! to be honest it's not the best cozy reading chair because of the wooden arms, but if you like to have good posture while reading it's pretty good :)
@@dontcallmethat3183 thanks I will consider that.
Come here for your murakami collection 😊
Your channel popped up in my suggestions feed. I've subscribed. Can't go wrong with Dune. Day of the Triffids is a fabulous post apocalyptic nove. I love big books because they allow me to spend time in that world. It fun to be immersed in that way.
I like the way everything is set up, also there's something a little charming about the different editions of some books even tho I'm normally a nerd who wants all my editions to match (like the dantes inferno, purgatory, paradise all being different cover editions)
I'm so glad I found your channel You're a breath of fresh air
Thannk you for the recommendations. I love Andy Weir's work and can't recommend him enough. By the way, many hours do you read every day? P.S. Science Fiction Audiobooks are amazing. I'd recommend you the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and the Magician Series by Robert E Feist, if you haven't heard them yet.
How many hours I read in a day really varies. I like to try to read for at least an hour everyday, but sometimes I don't even manage that. But other days I read for up to 12 hours--usually if I'm bingeing something to finish it or get my numbers up :) I read Hitchhiker's last summer and loved it! haven't heard of the Magician Series--I'll have to look it up :)
The dewy decimal system is slaying💅🏽
The way you organized the general fiction section is so smart!! Doing a "rainbow theme" with the books whose authors you only own a single book from so that you dont split series and stuff. Im going to use that system with my bookshelf now!
Hi😃 where' your watch from?
Honestly, I think I got it at the grocery store lol
That's a really good list. You may like Man's Search for Meaning if you like memoirs.
Do you have good reads? New subscriber. Also I’ve read a room with a view and then watched the movie very enjoyable and loved Helen bonham carter in it. I knew her for older work with her ex-husband but I truly fell in love with her in this movie.
Yes, I have goodreads and storygraph! I put the links in the about page on my channel :) Oooh, I haven't watched the movie yet, but if Helena Bonham Carter is in it, now I have to watch it! She's great in everything I've seen her in
Have you read every book on your shelves?
Definitely not, lol :) I own around 570 books, and I haven't gotten to all of them yet. Plus, I keep buying books faster than I read them! I think lots of people have that same problem... I keep a TBR list and right now there's about 120-ish books on it, so I've read whatever 570-120 is out of 570 (I'm an english major, so I try not to do math lol)
@@dontcallmethat3183 I have the same problem. I have around my guess 400 books that I am trying to get through before I buy more. I am doing a year challenge of reading 100 books in a year. So I get 4 years before I buy a new book. Lolol I can’t control myself haha. That’s awesome you are an English major. I would love to hear your top 5 books in every genre that you have read. I know that we may change our minds as we continue reading incredible books.
Your collection is amazing! Great variety.
Thanks! I try my best to cultivate a healthy variety on my shelves, so I'm glad you noticed that :)
hey! do you annotate your books? if the answer is no, then what's your opinion on annotating books? love your videos btw❤
It depends,, when I was doing my degree, I would annotate books I read for class. I tried a few different things but found that underlining and commenting in the margins with a pencil worked best for me :) I didn't use tabs or anything, so sometimes it was hard to find what I was looking for. Mostly, annotating just helped me stay focused on what I was reading. Books that I read for fun I usually don't annotate. Sometimes I annotate philosophy, again to help me focus. I find annotating really helpful, but it slows me down so I don't annotate unless I really need to. So glad you enjoy the videos ❤️
Midnight's Children is better than Satanic Verses from the perspective of someone who is looking for a light read. I'd love to see you review the works of R.K. Narayana and Ruskin Bond. Thank you for the other book recommendations. Will add them to the list.
I agree, Midnight's Children was definitely lighter than The Satanic Verses! I'm gonna add Narayan and Bond to my list of authors to check out, thanks for the recs :)
i love the built ins that your dad made! the organised chaos is beautiful.
organized chaos is the perfect way to describe it !!
may i just say that i stumbled upon your channel very randomly a few weeks ago and now i’m obsessed with your vlogs 😭 i love it sm!!
So happy that I found your channel, I found it really interesting how you talk about books! Hope to watch a reading vlog from you soon!
your nails are so pretty
"A book can produce strong reactions in many different ways" 2:26 well said. I hated most characters in wuthering heights, hated these so called romantic relationship. Same thing with The pricture of Dorian Gray. But they are in the top 5 of my favorites classics so far
Yes, I totally agree about Wuthering Heights and The Picture of Dorian Gray, but they are also some of my faves!
Congrats on finishing your degree 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I read Jane Eyre and i wasn't a fan of the "love" story between her and Rochester. And i wanted to punch John everytime he was mentionned or appeared in the story
We love to hate John
I bought my first Shakespeare for my birthday 🎉. I am still learning english so I got an edition with a modern "translation" on one side of the page and the original version on the other side.
Those side by side translations are so helpful! I love Shakespeare but I still have to use the modern translations sometimes :)
I have Things fall apart and the other two books of the "trilogy" in my wishlist. I hope to read them soon. I read Dubliners in april. I struggled with it but some of the stories were interesting. Also i subscribed because we seem have interests in the same genres (classics mostly) I want to read more literary fiction and non fiction (anything but self help books lol)
