Thank you easy to follow❤️love it
Do you have to soak the flowers in water right away after you pick them?
Thank you for sharing.
Where do you find these flowers on Oahu?
Usually at schools or people’s homes. I just ask to pick. Have to be very careful not to get the milk and white powdery stuff in your eyes though.
I visited my Daughter in Hawaii for my Granddaughters Graduation this past week and we went exploring for crown flowers. We found some trees behind a mall but they were all picked over so I only picked a few and know what you are talking about now when you said to be careful of the powder and milkiness. I didn't get it in my eye though. It was my First time seeing them and they are beautiful!
I love it cousin. I have to listen to it at least 1x a month
How much for you to make one for me? I can Venmo or cash app you the money
That is a very beautiful flower. Can anyone give me the name of the flower, please?
Calotropis gigantic flower. I might of spell it wrong.
Gigantea^ 🙃
Crown Flower
What is that called..?
Can you show how to start it from beginning please.
First! Pin?
Can you use the grass skirt instead of that?
Approximately how many flowers does it take to make a lei?
I was wondering the same thing. 🥹
I don’t usually count. It also depends on how long you make it. Maybe 80-100 avg
Approximately how many flowers does it take to make a lei?
60
Dutch instead of going to Tahiti to get them we can make them at camp
Aloha. Sooooo enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing. Question: Once you fold into thirds and cut, what is the length of the strands? Also do you use all of one skirt to make the hip band?
Do you know how to make the hau rosettes? Please
Mahalo for the tutorial
My tutu never let me use scissors, always made me pull the ti leaf all the way off
It depends where you pick it. At this location, because it gets windy, they asked us to cut it off with scissors because it helps to keep the stalk stronger. At other farms we strip the whole leaf off.
Thank you for sharing but how do you add the feathers in the middle pls?
Thank for shared this video! I wonder if you have any other video showing how to start the hip band?
Where did you order the grass skirt to cut?
how long can they stay in freezer? And once they thaw, do they need to be used right away?
Long time. I use it right away, later on in the day, or put it in the refrigerator or back in the freezer.
Crystale, thank you so much for making these. They are easy to understand and so helpful for new dancers. Karen-Island Costumes
please from where did you get the moré?

Aloha! Thanks for sharing your culture and knowledge! My question now is... to add feathers to this and fancy it up more, how is that normally done?? Like the long rooster feathers for example. Glue feathers to the fringe?? Or does it get sewn somehow?
Glue is a no no. Sew. Some even use wire, but sew. I dunno how to do it personally tho. Some both glue and sow. But I guess as long as nobody can see the glue it’s fine...
Faster
Do you know any other styles leis for the crown flower? I have to make a particular lei for my daughters mayday using crown flower but I have no idea how to do it.
Super, très bien démontré . As tu une video avec des fleurs?
Super , clear instructions
Hi so how long would you say this takes to make one belt?
what kind of material did u use?
moré (tahitian term) It's the inner bark of the hau (Hawaiian term) tree The fabric is just leftover scrap fabric. I try to keep the color of the fabric same or close to the color of the moré.
Woow
What string did you use?
R Corn It's just leftover fabric of some sort. Usually an old bed sheet that we just cut up.
Awesome thanks
Request: next time it will be cool for you to wear proper clothes or cover your legs with an ie But the video was awesome 🌸💕
Why? She's not Samoan.
Agnes Laulu 🙄
Agnes Laulu What a dumb ass comment. Not even valid to this video at all! Wtf?!
Materials?!
Ashley Floyd go to Michael's or hobby lobby and get a Hawaiian hula skirt. They have the grass ones
I think if you can't find moré you can use rafia. It just might be harder
Where can we get some moré???
What type of material are you using for this? Can you buy at a craft store? Can you use Raffia? Thanks
i don't know if you ever got an answer, but this is raffia! raffia is called more in Tahitian and hau in Hawaiian :) all the same thing!
request to my island friends if you can just make a hula costume for my daugter plzz
Que material es rafia??Donde puedo comprar ??🙏🏿

Hey just wanted to say good job I loved it I subscribed LOVE YOUR VIDS keep up the good work 😊
How long do you freeze the ti leaf?
Courtland S freeze the ti-leaf for about 3 hours
Crystale Cayaban Thanks for the quick reply! :D i have to make em for school. lol
So, you just cut the leaf in half at the stem and freeze them for three hours before braiding? I was told by someone that they should be microwaved. Doesn't the freezing make them hard to braid? I am a teacher and am making these for a Lord of the Flies lesson. Thank you so much for posting the video!
@@alicegold6506Why would you be making sacred Hula adornments for a book about little European boys who go savage and descend into madness? Disrespectful
How do you stick it in your hair?
you just use hair pin. you pin the toothpick on your hair with a hairpin.
How soon can we start making the leis? can we make them then freeze/refrigerate them or do I need to make it closer to the date we need them
I love song is very awesome I wish I could be in it with him later I'm going to do the dance cuz I'm my school is Solomon Elementary and we're going to do the dance sooner or later
