Train (model and prototype) videos...
Gravity Defying Mozzies
Pacific National's Manildra Shunt, running as train 8834, climbs the Bumberry Range with 3 48 Class NSWGR locos on the point in February 2014. These engines are similar to the Alco T6 and S6 in the US as they are all powered by the same inline, 6-cylinder, 251B prime mover.

The Black Fog... of Ardglen?
มุมมอง 4.8K9 ปีที่แล้ว
Pacific National coal train NB528 claws it's way through Ardglen Tunnel. The close confines of the tunnel causes the locomotives to starve for air, which, in turn, causes the billowing black smoke. Very similar to what used to happen in Montana.

Depending on train length and weight, sometimes the Chewelah Turn can ramp up speed to 25 in this stretch. At the former location of Gray's Siding, we see them going for 25, and as the train passes, we see it slow back down to 10 for the curves ahead around Springdale.

Columbia & Cowlitz Railway (before Patriot Rail) 1/6/06
มุมมอง 3K12 ปีที่แล้ว
Dug up some old footage of the Columbia & Cowlitz Railway, back in 2006, when they were still owned by Weyerheauser interchanging with the BNSF and UP at Rocky Point, WA. Apologies for the shaking and generally poor quality. Taking videos was something very new to me, as I had only received the camera a week earlier!

UP (former Rio Grande) GP40-2 1445 heads the westbound leg of the Plummer Turn back to Spokane Yard. I rendered this for over 2 hours in 1080p mode, as an experiment, so I hope TH-cam doesn't mess it up or something...if so, it was not that big of a waste, I had beer!

Summer of the Oakways
มุมมอง 2.3K15 ปีที่แล้ว
The summer of 2008 was an excellent year for trains powered by EMD Oakway SD60s. You will see a number of different locations and trains under control of these brutes. Just recently, the number of Oakways has been reduced to 50 (from 99 EMD SD60 3 - the last SD60 demo) making scenes like these nearly impossible to recreate. Long live the Oakways!

Norfolk Southern on the old Monongahela - April 2008 Part 1
little did the railroad company known as Port Of Tillamook Bay Railroad knew, just 2 months later, a horrifying and almost almost deadly storm would put POTB to rest forever.
This is so surreal. One of the last times these canyon walls and forests will hear the distinctive sounds of SD9s working hard pulling heavy trains over the Coast Range. No one knew it at the time but, just a few weeks later, everything would change. The peaceful Salmonberry River would become a raging torrent sending water and debris into trestles like battering rams and washing out large sections of track and roadbed. This is truly an historic piece of footage.
This is 1 of the best Australian train videos ever.
*soot!*
2:17 Crossing Wolf Creek Trestle. Heading eastbound up the steep grade toward the summit at Cochran.
Next time I get out there, we're going after this stuff
How far into the Nehalem Valley did this track run?
In the world good hit always.
We in view more brat the planning and scoping out.
True religion looking for just everyone else.

Took a lot of photos at hynman and fair hope years ago.
That’s a BNSF manifest with MRL helpers.
I can remember when the old Milwaukee came through St Maries on its way up to Avery. At Avery the electrified branch into Montana began. Great memories!!
Love the caboose.
48ers. You can't kill em with a stick :-) Not sure how the NSW railways would have ever got by without them.
Too bad such a large section of that historic wood trestle had to be replaced. I forget what happened. Did it burn or something? That old caboose I think is one of 4 or 5 bought brand new by Weyerhauser in 1981. They were originally assigned to their Chehalis Western operation, working around Curtis, Vail and the former Milwaukee Road Chehalis Sub running log trains into Tacoma. That operation ceased operation in 1992.
That is crazy, all the diesel smoke
11 power units. Were those about 7,000 horsepower each?. I don't know.
You got it . Now thats how you run a railroad !
Damn, the crew would be seasick by the time they reached the mill!
RIP POTB
That was a pretty good video I like it
Great video! Where is Part 2 of this video? I found parts 1 and 3.
So..... where's part 2??
More please! Awesome smoke
I love the Salmonberry river canyon and I loved the Port of Tillamook Bay trains
I watched a video of a guy walking this line now . It was sad how much damage has happened up there !
The 4th of July weekend the steam train ran from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach it's only 5 miles .It's better than nothing .
adding flavor to the coal!!
Thank you! Since Covid hit I’ve had more time to work on my model railroad and I can always use more Weyerhaeuser affiliated footage! Great video!
On the side of the Salmonberry there's a lot of sunken grade. Some of the tracks are floating after the banks washed away.
Nice ride! Thanks for sharing! I love the Maryland Midland
Pure filth, in every sense of the word.
so thats where godzilla lives?
That grass must be thick in the summer
This video makes me so sad every time I watch it ☹
Nice Window Ride.
So much good noise out of three little units.
Spectacular! Love the black smoke being blown from the traction motors....
THANK YOU FOR DETAIL VIDEO ON REAL OPERATION
2019 update. maintained but not in use to clarkia. clarkia to bovill still abandoned. only train is from St Maries to plummer and back.
What gives here. One says it is reborn and the other says the line is gone.
Hi
Iam coughing and I am not there
@ 2:27 is that the bridge that was washed out?
Negative, we didn't get that far back west. The one in the video is a few miles east of the one that got washed.
I see. Very cool videos none the less. Thanks for both taking and sharing them
