Why have I made these uploads? Maybe I can explain it in the following way.
Walter Pater's famous statement: "All art constantly aspires towards the condition of music. For while in all other kinds of art it is possible to distinguish the matter from the form, and the understanding can always make this distinction, yet it is the constant effort of art to obliterate it." ... this is a statement which never fails to remind me of the title of André Malraux’s great book on the plastic arts "The Voices of Silence" … and which in turn can't help but remind me of the Motto appearing at the beginning of Kazimir Malevich’s short essay from c. 1915 titled "The Artist": "The aim of music is silence".

Tchaikovsky - Iolanta - Samosud (Part 1)
มุมมอง 3505 ปีที่แล้ว
The orchestral introduction to Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta" describing "the world of blindness" could also serve perfectly as music to accompany the present historical moment in which we live. What follows this introduction is an exact parable on what could happen in the coming future in our present world under the best of conditions. So, maybe we can see the last opera of Tchaikovsky as a good-bye ...

This is the only recording Glazunov made as a conductor. The recording producer, Joe Batten, has written about the 1929 recording sessions his autobiography: "(The Seasons) was recorded at the old Portman Rooms in Baker Sreet. I shall never forget meeting him, tall, elderly, so ill with gout and rheumatism that I wondered if he could stand the physical strain of three or four hours of intensive...
Tchaikovsky - Symphony No. 2 - Goossens

"A PARADOX OF TECHNICAL PROGRESS [OR, LET'S HEAR IT FOR ABSTRACT ART ... or, why else did Kazimir Malevich call his work 'a new realism'?] / The primary aim of modern sound recording techniques is to convey a naturalistic impression of whatever is making the music - let's say, for example, an orchestra. With the old recording methods (i.e., from the 78 rpm days) everything turned out to be the ...

"On 31 July 1858 the Russian critic and littérateur Vladimir Stassov sent a letter to his friend Mily Balakirev: 'I should like to know, more than anything, whether you are sticking to your intention to write music for Lear, and, if so, entr'actes and an overture or an overture only; and if you have in fact started working on all this, is it going well, and how and what?'
