The impact of BREAST WEIGHT on POSTURE

This conversation is about the impact of breast weight on posture.
I speak with Siobhan O’Donovan, an Irish musculoskeletal Chartered Physiotherapist, who these days likes nothing more than to talk about breast weight and how it can affect women's wellbeing.
For Siobhan, prevention of injury has always been fundamental to her as well as her desire to educate. Under the umbrella of her company Posture Matters, she runs posture rehabilitation classes and offers 1:1 physiotherapy.
She has also created PostureFitting, a physiotherapy service involving bra-fitting that literally and figuratively supports women and in a bid to spread the word she runs workshops called GALS against GRAVITY. For more information head to www.posturefittingphysio.com

5 minutes of IMPACT for STRONGER BONES
มุมมอง 3.9K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
Maximising bone health is crucial, especially for those managing osteoporosis. Weight-bearing activities are key to stimulating bone growth by putting pressure on the skeletal structure. Increasing impact intensity enhances osteogenesis, the process of building bones. This short, impactful workout is an excellent 'movement snack' tailored to strengthen bones. It's designed to inject vital impac...

Professor Clinton Rubin’s message is clear. Avoid high magnitude whole body vibration machines… particularly if you have low bone density. Rubin’s research focus is targeted towards understanding the cellular mechanisms responsible for bone health (growth, healing and homeostasis of bone). Please make sensible choices when selecting exercise options. Please stay safe exercising. #bonehealth #Os...

Does this machine help build bone in the spine and hips? I use it at my gym twice a week and your video has shown me that I need to really increase my weights to gain benefits. I have osteoporosis in one hip and I am trying to reverse it. Thanks for the instruction!
@@Linda5904-d8j Hi! In order to build bone the science tells us that you need to be bearing weight through the skeleton. The video shows you a protocol for dosing (weights, repetitions, rest etc). I use machine weights because this is the safest way to advise through a channel. If you take the same lifting principles and apply them to a weight bearing lift, like a deadlift, you will hopefully be ‘building bone’. BUT I do not recommend doing this with heavy weights to start. Free weights are different to machine weights and require a lot more control and technique. Find a qualified trainer to work with and progress to heavy weights. This machine (the leg press) is a great way to work towards lifting heavy. It will prepare your muscles for the strains you demand for free weights lifting. I hope this helps.
I found this really helpful!
@@clair3529 great news… let me know how you get on… transitioning to free weights is straight forward but be sure you’ve got good form first!

My doctor said stumping or jumping damage knee and spinal column disks’ joints !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, stomping and jumping can aggravate osteoarthritis. The impact that is useful and helpful for our bones is not always tolerated by the joints. What’s important is to choose a level of impact that suits ‘you’ (the individual). I have some clients who choose low level impact (walking / stepping / marching) and high intensity resistance as their go to for bones. It’s all about understanding what’s useful and calculating the right combo for your body based on history and current status. I hope this helps.
Love this. Thank you.
Great! How often are you doing it?
This was awfull and painful this guy talks way too much to say, nothing!!!!!!!!
That was great and all I've go to do is dooooo it!
How are you getting on? Motivating yourself?
HI - such a great concept for a podcast! Really important for OP people out there, helping them through the weeds of information. Thanks for everything- Richard
Thank you so much! I’ve been looking for something like this to add to my strength training! Do you have Any more workouts? Thank you!
Thanks for this very detailed explanation.
Glad to find your channel!
Thank you so much for this. I'm 39 and diagnosed with early onset osteoporosis, trying to find work outs that are short and cover everything I need. You are a gift for sharing this thank you thank you ❤
How are you getting on with this workout? Doing it often?
@@getstrongerforlonger it's been really good thank you so much for sharing this! ❤ I must admit thought I have to do it when my downstairs neighbor are not home they complain about the noise 😂 so the moment I see their car drive out I put this on haha
I would like to take a class from Dr. Rubin. He’s a top-notch explainer!
Hi! At what age dose it seem to be best to start the vibration plate? I am 52 and have osteopenia and wondered if vibration or just normal weight training would be the best?
I’m age 82 with diagnosis of osteopenia and bone on bone in both knees. I’ve been using the vibration plate daily for a year and am now able to walk without a limp or pain. Perhaps my next DEXA scan will show that I held steady in my bones. That would be great confirmation. Meanwhile, I feel I avoided knee replacement by regularly walking and using the plate.
What does this machine do to knee replacements hip replacements and rods in bone 🦴??????
Do you have tips for airline travel with Maradyme LIV device?
Where can we purchase the device Dr Rubin?

This is valuable information about exercise. I never would have known about the 3 hour intermission between exercising. Also...more isn't always better.
It’s great that Dr. Ruben has invented this incredible machine. It’s too bad that the vast majority of people cannot afford it. I certainly can’t
There are many vibration machines out there that are less than $200
@@elahau3783 I thought it had to be minimum of 50 Herz, which many on Amazon are not. No wayI can spend $5000. :o(
I know it’s expensive but I invested. Happy to say after one year of using the marodyne plate I had a dexa and all of my markers have improved.
I love the video. Don't get left behind > "Promosm"!
