Those are some beautiful figs.
Soak the figs in water and the tissue paper will come off easily...I'm guessing.
In which season does I have to cut and plant the hard wood cutting Here in temperate zone india
Honestly in your area you can take cuttings during any season and easily root them. I am located in zone 8b here in the US and I take cuttings as necessary from any of my fig tree varieties that are not fruiting and easily root them.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 how can you show me the process.and show I use cocopeat or soil.
Beautiful fig tree what type of soil do you use to get a fig tree that nice looking friend 👍
Thanks! I use a mixture of 40% moisture control potting soil, 40% peat moss, and 20% sand. For fertilizer I use composted cow manure once every 90 days during the grow season.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 thank you friend I appreciate the info and will try your soil mixture and fertilizing regimen 👍
I want to see the one that gets the size of a tennis ball I could not find it online here in Washington state
That would be the Tauro Fig, I do have that variety in stock. Photos of this variety can be found online, search Tauro Fig or Tauro Fig Trees.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 thank you
Hlo sir I want to talk with you Because i can't tell you in one comment I am an over over thinker Hope you reply
Are you interested in the Vasilika variety of figs or a different variety?
0:54 "We gonna start this propagation experiment by WACKING OFF." Classic slip. I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters.
Do we fertilize the figs when they have rust?
Hi Carolyn, rust typically begins to develop here in my area around August and October and by that time of year here most varieties of fig trees have already fruited or are already in the midst of fruiting. The varieties that have already fruited we don’t fertilize again until spring. The varieties that are fruiting we only fertilize with epsom salt and if they do have rust on any of the leaves we remove those leaves from the trees and discard in the garbage bin.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 I live in the Houston area and first time growing fig trees. When I saw the rust I was so worried. Thank you for your video.
Hello there, How do you compare this fig to strawberry Verte?
Quite similar in flavor and texture, the flesh of the Verdone is typically a darker red than the Verte but overall there’s not much difference besides the size and weight of the fruit with the Verdone averaging around 34 grams and the Verte averaging 31 grams. If I were in the market to purchase a strawberry fig I’d buy one or the other due to their similarities, but I think that it would be a waste to acquire both.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 Thank you for your response, how about the ripening time? And which one is actually bigger?
If I may ask, what do you do with all your rooted figs?
I actually own a small fig tree nursery here and I grow and sell many fig tree varieties. I have stock trees that I take cuttings from every year to grow more fig trees of my favorite and most popular varieties.
Going to be trying this method! Thank you.
Yes most definitely give it a try, I have experienced high levels of success over the past several years using this method.
Looks nice Eric. The volume was a bit low so i didn't catch if you said if that was a breba fig or an early maincrop fig ?
These are main crop figs brother, no brebas on this variety this year, my food forest is located in a partially shaded location, I typically only get brebas on container grown fig trees in sunny locations or or in fig trees in sunny locations.
Thank you for sharing brother L. Looking awesome. Your little tree is truly blest. Yep, we had a giant thunderstorm up here yesterday afternoon too. Lord bless you guys.
Many blessings in your favor up there brother Steve 🙏🏾 Thanks for joining me for this video!
My figs aren't ripe yet.
Hi Christee, no worries, different varieties of figs ripen at different times of the grow season, some varieties are swift to mature and ripen early in the season like Celeste figs, some take longer to mature and ripen late in the season like Sumaki, Strawberry Verdone, and MIB figs.
I was able to control mine last year with the rush but this year I have fruits for the first time so I haven’t strayed anything and watching the leaves fall one by one. What do you suggest?
I suggest that you fertilize your fig tree with a mixture of 1 tablespoon of epsom salt and one gallon of water, mix thoroughly and apply twice a week for the next 3 weeks, be sure that your tree receives full sun and is located in an are with well draining soil. If growing in a container fertilize twice a week for the next 3 weeks and water in fertilizing if necessary
Wow beautiful figs! I am growing 8 celeste fig trees in the ground. Any tips on pruning fig trees near the property line to be flat and wide for privacy? They're about 3 ft from the property line and I'd like to make it wide like your mini one your just showed.
Hi and yes I can help you with that NovaPrincess, I recommend pruning the top and upwardly growing branches of your trees as evenly as possible, this will cause your trees to grow and spread in an outwardly direction. Bear in mind that your trees will produce less fruit this season as you will probably be pruning some of the fruit producing branches. Next season however your trees will produce heavily. Prune your trees annually to keep them at your desired height.
Why do you constantly keep say g utube
I have a big brunch of fig and if I plant it in compost with perlite is it going to root? Please help
It is possible, I highly recommend removing all foliage from the branch leaving only the growth nodes, cut at a 45° angle on both ends, and rub aloe or onion on both ends and anywhere else the branch has been cut. Plant entire branch 3” beneath the soil in a partially shaded location. Water the area well and allow at least 30-45 days for the branch to sprout roots and an additional 2 weeks for sprouts to reach the surface of the soil, hope that this information helps.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 many thanks. God bless you
Man keep in mind of the first time subscribers to your channel-either you move the camera too much or lost with presenting the step by step video-you are all over the place man like story telling which doesn’t match your title of the video
Brother take it as a positive feedback. you shake the video too much man, also your mike is noisy, you should prepare well before a video on content too.
A neighbor had cut down 3 young figs. I actually wasn't sure what they were at first. I have no idea how long they'd been by the street but the leaves were not terribly wilted so maybe not for too long. Not knowing what they were...I decided to cut them into segments to try to root in water. I left the leaves & leaf buds on the stems. The leaves were not very big. Is that ok? I haven't scored the stems yet. I'll do that tomorrow. I need to reduce the amount of water in each jar too. So...is it ok to leave the leaves and leaf buds on the stem segments? Thanks for the videos!
Thanks for watching, I totally appreciate you Kim! I’d remove the leaves and leave only the leaf buds on the stems be sure to cut the ends of the stems that will be in water at a 45° angle just below the bottom growth node. 2” of water in your containers will be enough and change your water every 3-4 days.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 Thank you for your reply! I will try this! Hopefully I'll have good luck with rooting them. Thanks again!
How much do you sell the three gallon figs for?
3 gallon Celeste Fig trees are $35 right now my friend, thanks.
Hi Eric, they certainly wake up early there, i don't think ours here would reach that stage of growth until late May 😱. You must be so pleased to have the space now to get them in ground where they will grow like crazy
Greetings Brett, yes I’m super excited to have them looking well in ground here at the nursery, looking forward to an awesome grow season brother, thanks!
Thanks for sharing brother L. Looking super. 😊

Thanks for stopping by our channel to watch a few of our videos Scott, best wishes with your cuttings.
I have about 50 fig cuttings I’ve started to root I water. When should I transfer them to soil?
Greetings Scott, thanks for watching our videos my friend! I suggest that you wait until the roots are a minimum of 3” in length before transferring the cuttings to soil
Your greenhouse looks beautifully neat and tidy
Hey Brett, thanks man, it’s a work in progress, hope to have this one filled by Mid December and the other one by mid January.
Nice!
Much appreciated my friend! Hope to take about 20 cuttings from these trees in a couple days and propagate them.
Excellent video brother, Which fig tree more productive ?
Greetings my friend and thanks for watching. The Angelica Green Fig is honestly the most productive variety among the fig trees featured in this video. I am in Hardiness Zone 8B.
👋🏾👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks CeeDee! Had a way early 2 day hard frost pass through here a few days ago and I was totally unprepared, hadn’t yet installed my heaters and grow lights and somehow, miraculously, when virtually everything around these fig trees either died or went into dormancy, they were totally unaffected.
Very nice. Is this the yellow fig in your thumbnail photo?
The tree shown in this video is actually a Blue Celeste Fig tree but we do have the Yellow long neck fig tree in stock.
I am so glad to find your video because I was thinking about doing the same thing. You have provided an unique method of removing the growth nodes. I will give it a try. About the soil, can I used garden soil or potting soil?
Thanks for watching and greetings my friend. I highly recommend using sand (like sandbox sand or construction sand) if possible. When rooting fig cuttings you can use any type of soil but using sterile sand increases your chances of successfully rooting the cuttings because sand holds less water and soil that allows water to pass right through reduces the chance of your cuttings rotting instead of rooting. Potting soil is good for plants that already have roots but not good for cuttings because it contains things like manure, compost ect. so it is not sterile, and retains a lot of moisture.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991can I ask you to repeat what you recommended? 50/50 of white sand and coco (coir ??), not clear from video.
@@aerojmy use a 50/50 mix of sand and potting soil for best results but sand and coco coir will work too if you add a bit of fertilizer to the mixture
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 thank you so much!
Its a crazy world Eric, I've now got figs ripening on my tree in chilly Fall 🤪🤪
It truly is Brett, these last few figs that I have harvested seemed to be withering up and I thought no way would they make it, 2 days later they were starting to swell, 3 days later they were plump, juicy, and delicious 😆 l saw your last two videos on your ripening figs, what is your average night temperature there? We are expecting a chilly 🥶 34° here tonight and I had moved all of my potted fig and other fruit trees into my greenhousea few weeks ago and they are looking great but the ones that I have planted in in the ground are all looking like fall has arrived with yellowing and browning leaves all over.
@@southgeorgiafigs3991 currently we are have a very 'mild' spell, night temperatures are still between 45 and 50f ! It only goes up to around 55 to 57 during the daytime. Probably the nights are mild because its cloudy and rained almost every day for the last month 🤪🤪. All of my tropicals are still outside !
Good end to fig season!
Much appreciated my friend, thanks for watching!

Hello! Do you have a website to purchase cuttings?
Hi Tiana and thanks for watching this video. We will have cuttings available for sale from November 1st until March 1st, our website is temporarily closed for maintenance and product updates but will be back up and running by the last week of October, thanks.
Thank you, That’s amazing! I’m trying some fig propagation techniques and your video is encouraging. I will try water 💦 next! Minimal water- got it!
Hi Jenny and thanks for stopping by the channel to watch this video! Yes definitely give water propagation a try, now until around November is prime time for fig propagation if you have healthy and viable cuttings available. One thing that I have added to my fig propagation methods is thoroughly washing my cuttings in warm and mildly soapy water (use Dawn antibacterial dish soap if possible) doing this removes any fungus or mold spores that may be present on your cuttings and reduces the possibility of disease forming on your cuttings during propagation and increases your success rate. Let me know how your water propagation experiment goes ok?
