Here's a suggestion you may like. Modify the stools front legs with a very large radius (full radius), so your feet can tip the stool to the desired angle that is comfortable to them - not just flat. PS - putting a 1x1 edge of the front (back?) of it will prevent feet from slipping off. If put on with pegs, it would be removable if disliked.

I would measure the distance I need to cut, then push some medical cotton wool just pass the cutting area, then cut. Doing this prevents debris going deep inside. Just an idea....

Hi Rusty Nice job with the x axis. but i think that scale for the y axis (cross slide) looks much too bulky and will limit certain operations, just my thoughts, i would adapt a standard vernier for the cross slide if it was me, but like you said at the begining of the video we are all different, as long as your happy with it that's all that matters, there's always more than one way to skin a rabbit, as the saying goes. That's a very handy low profile clamping method. As long as there is enough room to swing the tool if needed for an in-situ application. This is on the next wet day project list. Thanks for sharing. Chers Pete' Hokitika.

Hello Mike, can you reverse the scale reader on the scale? turn it around so the cable is coming out the other end of the scale? or can it only go inside the scale one way? I am fitting my DRO to my lathe and all of my gib screws are on the right side of the cross slide, so I have decided to put the DRO on the chuck side and I will make a few extra covers for protection of the scale and reader. It is a JENIX DRO. Can you enlighten me please, cheers. Wylie

Instead of using standard pins for the cross pins take DIN 1474/ISO 8742 Knebelkerbstifte/toggle notch pins. The do not require reaming the hole to achieve a tight fit.

Make one of these a few years back - quite a bit simpler, but it works fine.

I'm sorry, but you spent far more time and energy on this tool than a hose clamp ever would have been. And they also have much better hose clamps than what you use as an example. Also the correct size hose clamp should just barely slide on with out resistance, by the time it's tight that gap no longer exists.

Clever tool, Mike! Definitely beats worm clamps. I'd say its better than Oetiker clamps as well, in that there's no ears sticking out after crimping, and wire is definitely cheaper than either! Definitely going to make one for my tool box. Also, it's awesome to see someone else including their DRO as a picture-in-picture. I do that in my videos as well! I think being able to see the same screen as the operator is a great addition to the viewing experience. It certainly beats disembodied *beep* sounds as buttons are pressed on an off-screen DRO display haha!

Hi Mike Nicely made tool. I have one but a simpler design. Also instead of threading the wire ends through the loop, make two separate loops on a straight piece of wire. The loops must rotate in opposite directions. After that just fold the wire 180 degrees between the loops until the loops are touching on the inside.. Thread this over the fitting etc etc. This way, the wire can be formed around a mandrel on a bench vice. The wire clamps can be premade to a variety of sizes.

Gday Mike, thanks for the mention, the reason I used the 12mm boring bar in mine was so the insert is supported and I was to lazy the mill in a pocket, when I do heavy cuts on a through bore I angle the boring bar around to open up the gap between the side wall and bar and this stops the build up of swarf between the 2, it’s amazing how much more rigid these bars are, great job mate, cheers

An odd characteristic of glass but effective, is glass can be cut with scissors if first submerged in waster. Scary but true. Look it up. The cutting must be done while the glass is submerged.

I don't think it's glass you're cutting. You can't cut glass with a hacksaw. I think it's a clear epoxy resin.

When I got my table saw & wanted to rip some 4 x8 sheets it really made me nervous so I dropped the blade down set the fence & practised several dry runs untill I got the feel as to how to apply pressure to keep things straight since then no problems Having to work around a leg would get annoying real fast especially if you are doing a lot of ripping but that,s just me

Hi Mike, I just watched this video and this is exactly what I have been cobbling to see what would be the best solution. Did your fence come with your saw or is that an aftermarket rip fence? That aluminum tray works great with your solution. My saw is the DeWalt DWE 7491rs does most of what I need. There is not enough room in front of the blade. Izzy Swan and Maggie came out with a small portable rig that clips in and out of that same type of setup. Izzy and Maggie started selling them and then decided they are not a production house. They had a few but not sure if someone else will pick up the work. Izzy and Maggie have switched over to the Harvey table saw solution. That is built like a tank. Stay Safe, Steven

A simple way to demonstrate that you should not keep the compass points at 90 degrees from the shape that you are trying to copy is to try to copy a circle. If you keep the compass points at 90 degrees, then you will end up with a smaller circle. If you keep the compass points oriented in the same direction (any direction will do, e.g. North) then you will get a copy of the circle.

Using the compass incorrectly, then declaring that the compass doesn’t work is disingenuous.
