    May I suggest one tip, since I'm an active scanograph... Instead of recording in tif file, you should record in bitmap file (.bmp). A bitmap file is a raw file. Or, by ancestry rights, a raw file is a bitmap file with added Metadata. If you record in bitmap file, you will have all the flexibility of a raw file. The bitmap files produced by Epson scanner can take a huge amount of editing before becoming burned or abstract. Tif files are theoretically uncompressed, but only retain details that are visible to the eye. Bitmap file (and it's descendant, the raw file) are uncompressed and retain all and every details, including the details invisible to the human eye. In a lightroom competition between a Bitmap file and a tif file, the Bitmap will win, since it is possible to recover way way more details in the shadows, the black and the lights. The Bitmap file is your Epson scanner's raw file.

    Glenys - I really don't know how to say thank you enough. I came across your channel recently and just keep coming back to it. You are incredibly generous with the knowledge you share with all of us, and it is too educational to even try to describe it adequately. So we can all learn so much from you, but the real beauty of your channel is to share with us your incredible artistic talent. Your vision and final images are simply gorgeous. Now all I need to find is a channel that can teach that creativity! Thank you.

    Excellent video, very helpful. Thank you. I have tried this but when I have a large stack like this I find that the lower layers have no effect even after changing opacity. Starting at the bottom I tried turning them off and it wasn't until I got to about half way that their effect was noticed. I'm enjoying experimenting but have yet to find a way to have all the layers in a large stack to have an effect. Any tips?

    • @GlenysGarnett

    • @GlenysGarnett
      @GlenysGarnett 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gill, thank you. I don't use my lamp for wet cyanotypes as they usually work better with a good blast of uv sunlight and need to stay out for at least an hour to get good results. The lamp wattage on mine is only 13w but I only use it for dry cyanotypes using transparency negatives, in this case I will do a test strip first to see what exposure is needed but it is never as long as an hour, usually between 10-20 minutes.
