Another fantastic video. I'm a newbie to Photoshop but I've spent the last couple of months glued to endless youtube tutorials trying to teach myself step by step. Glenys Garnett's tutorials stand out to me because they're explained so well and because starting with the finished image and showing layer by layer how it was created is a very different approach to most others with the user's needs firmly in mind. It feels to me that Glenys has an unusual ability to know exactly what needs explaining in detail and how to explain it. With many other videos I see what's being done but not well enough to be able to reproduce it and without really understanding why it's being done! This is completely the opposite because of the excellent narrative. I also sense that there are so many tips and tricks in them that they would be of real interest to very experienced photoshoppers too. I'm hoping Glenys might be doing photography/photoshop workshops too at some point! Up norf I expect! Count me in!
Thank you Barb, what a wonderful endorsement from you. I'm really glad you are enjoying the videos, but essentially taking the time to give me some feedback. It is new to me doing this and so glad you are finding the videos clear and useful, sometimes it can be hard to know how to pitch them, but I have gone with my gut and just done my thing. Thank you
I’ve watched two of your tutorials now and learnt so much. I’ve struggled with creating this sort of artistic photography and this has given me such a boost in creating stuff now with my images. Thank you!
Some really helpful tips again Glenys, thank you. Could I just ask please, how did you create the virtual copy in lightroom? I couldn’t quite catch that! 🙂
Really enjoyed this one and I will be trying it on an image to see how I get on. Is there a facebook group I could join please Glenys? You mention a group and I would love to be able to join in. Thanks.
Thank you Chris glad you enjoyed it. Yes I run an invite only Mentoring Group, you are quite welcome to join. It is quite small with a few enthusiastic members who want to do this type of imaging and I provide personal mentoring on it. Here is the link if you want to join facebook.com/groups/379425896195681/
Hi Glenys. Love your work and your tutorials! One question if I may? Where do you find your textures? There seem to be so many sources out there I struggle to choose! Many thanks in advance Robin
Thank you Robin. I mostly create my own or if you use Adobe CC there are some free textures called Flypaper on the Adobe Exchange otherwise you are down to shooting/scanning/making your own or buying some.
@@robinfeild2165 not as difficult as you might think, best way is to photograph or scan as many surfaces as you can or in PS daub some paint on a blank page and then use blending brushes. Might have to do a video on it 🤔
Hi Glenys, I've only just found your youtube channel and finding it fascinating to see how you work. Quick question - how did you create the original blank page?
Thank you Ian 👍 Just click on the File menu and choose New. First choose the dimensions, I always start with 20x20 inch but that is a big file so you might want start with a 12x12 or whatever dimensions is best for you. You can start with a 16bit image but some of the PS filters will only work in 8bit so just be aware of that, you will need to convert it down if need be, not a problem. Start with a white background as you can use a colour fill if needed. 👍
hope you will do more of these. Amazing ideas.
