The entire happy daydream was me meticulously cleaning and polishing it until it looked perfect again. 😂🧼 Anyone who hasn’t seen that one yet needs to go find it immediately. I hope the hermit had some occupation like spinning, which also allows lots of thinking at the same time. The space is JUST big enough for a small wheel.

Beautiful little building or home I love it

This is not a "tiny house". It was clearly never intended to be lived in. What you have discovered is a folly. It is in the same class with grottos, artificial ruins, temples, belvederes, and obelisks. All perfectly normal for great estates of that era.

It's about as big as my flat. £950 a month and I don't even get a thatched roof for that! 😅

Maybe they kept somebody imprisoned, bricked into that room.

The ladder isn't abandoned, it's a modern feature allowing access to this very well known tourist feature in Lathkill Dale. The dale itself is very picturesque, especially in summer, with lots of plants and wildlife. At one end it is more wild and open, with steep sided, grassy limestone slopes. The parts shown here are heavily wooded and were once highly industrialised. The water in the river Lathkill is extremely clean and clear. It joins the neighbouring Bradford Dale and the River Bradford, which is also beautiful, quiet and has crystal clear water.

If you don’t ever do any research, everything you find will be totally surprising.
