The manix 2 is what got me into spyderco. My very first was the custom manix 2 by Lynch NW. Black g10 with a spiderweb design across the entire blade and on the custom deep carry titanium pocket clip. I love how strong the spring tension is on the ball bearing locking system. It feels like 3x stronger than any of my Benchmade axis lock and hogue able locks.

I agree with what you said I’ve carried a 940 For years. Like you said not the slightest but a good work tool that does what you require of it. Don’t care about pocket clips just take them off and it’s pocket food. Nice thing is with its aluminum construction it’s strong enough to ride in your pocket all day every day.. Who cares if you get a key mark or whatever it’s still works every bit as good as it did before. Green and purple is a great tribute to the Lemans winning jaguar.

Have both, carry the PM2 more, but my Manix is S110V LW so it's one of my preferred knives for moist environments and shorts whereas my PM2 is crucarta. I consider the Manix 2 lightweight in any steel to be the most practical production folding knife in the world bar none. Also S30V is wayyyyyyy underrated

This thing sucks. The only thing it is good for is to carry on a hiking trip when you have no other means of sharpening. Even then i think I would rather try to sharpen my knife on a rock. The strop and compound sucks, the grit size of the stones sucks, and the surface area is too small. Also because the ceramic rod is round it makes it worthless, it loads up fast and is almost impossible to clean. You'll just wind up convexing all your edges and have overall terrible results.

Oh I agree 100%, I have other knives but the 940 is still the one I always go to. Like you said I carry little razor knives they were out change the blade easy. But I always have a pocket knife on me at work and it’s 99% of the time at 940. I don’t care about the new craze I want something that is just reliable and works

When I bought a 940-2 about 6 years ago I didn't care for it as much as I thought I would. It ended up living in the console of the truck for a while. I decided to take it to work and beat on it until it gave up, or I would lose it and not care. After about a year of abuse that a few other knives couldn't handle, I changed my mind and I consider it the best all around knife I have ever had. As far as it not being slicey enough, I have other blades that are thinner and more efficient but can't take the abuse of the 940. I like so much I have a 940 on the way. Maybe someday I will pick up a custom shop version as well.

As much as I disagree with the outcome of the video. I appreciate the facts that you gave and agree with all to a point. But what I really loved was that this wasn’t clickbait and you didn’t end with it’s a dead even tie both are great knives.

  • @Barry-Sweaty

I laugh when I hear “a coin will get in there and damage the blade” because I shove my 940 in crevices and use it as a pry bar 😂 it’s meant to be treated like a farm knife

Ive been using this sharpener as well for a while now. One recommendation i have is whe using the strop, go from tip to heel of the blade. Since you are going backwards with the knife going tip to heel will result in going in the same direction as when using the stone. If you go from the heel to the tip you end up basically making x's on the edge, that will still help but not as much as going in the same direction and really refining the scratches from using the diamond stone.

I had one in black g10 before. Gave that to a friend. After a while, I kind of missed it. While I was thinking about whether to get another one or not, I came across the S35VN version with blue FRN scales. Much more expensive but a big jump in the steel so I decided to go for it. I'm really happy with my decision. Now I'm thinking whether I should get the Resilience also in S35VN. I have the standard one in my collection.

I had the Le Hawk, and its probably the most uncomfortable knife ive ever owned. Its a really good idea, but it just didnt work with my hand. I took the glass slipper route, and gave it away to the first person who could comfortably hold it.
