This IL was the level that in rotation for the Classic Sonic Speedrun Community server's IL tourney for the 2nd half of May. I'm pretty damn proud of this time and the community altogether managed to cut about 7 seconds for this IL in comparison to the old record before which was done by 3Pills with a time of 1'03"80 in the Patched version of the game. I had to take a break from getting a 38 on Studiopolis 1, it has been a really brutal grind trying to achieve that time for the past month so I wanted to go back to Stardust 1 as an aside for a short bit since a 45 was definitely possible. This almost was a 38, until my spindash and jumps in the middle of the level before the speedshoes were subpar. Mainly the difficulty of this IL is getting the bumper cycle a few seconds in just right for a quicker spindash setup, which is really dumb to get. I wanted to say that I had the IL record at least once, and here it is. I'm feeling that 38 is possible, given that you get the lucky bump strat halfway through the level to set up the spindash there faster along with cleaner movement (which was lacking in the 2nd half of the run and the spindash could have been a bit faster too). Wow, barely got a lot of neat 1 second timesaves here which helped angle the run towards this time.
