I am playing the Arabic / Egyptian Nay, but it seems to be totally different from the kind of blowing and placing the lips. It really seems much more complicated than the Arabic/Turkish/Greek Nay.

For killing fungi inside the ney I would recommend tea tree oil (mixed with a carrier oil like almond or olive oil). I used it with great success in various flutes. Also, for the moisture problem, I use a tissue to dry the top part of the ney after I finish playing, and leave the ney in an upright position so the rest of the moisture evaporates. Not sure if it’s a great idea to keep putting talc inside it, it might build up.

I have an arab Ney and learnt to play the arab way with the lips, but the persian way seems to have a more colorful playing and I want to learn it. Do I need a persian instrument for this technique or should it work on an arab Ney too? Thanks for an advice

You will have a sound without interference and it has 5 different sounds. The closer the tongue is to the roof of the mouth and the more the arch of the tongue is, the lower the sound will be, a completely different sound from the first sound.

I took the plastic/tape off the mouth part of my ney. I've seen players play with the plastic and some without. Did i make a mistake?

Bonjour ! Tout d'abord merci pour ces vidéos qui m'aident beaucoup dans l'apprentissage de l'instrument. J'ai une question par rapport à l'entretien de l'instrument. J'ai ramené un grand ney d'Iran (F#) et en cherchant sur internet je suis tombé sur un site d'un spécialiste occidental du ney iranien que vous devez connaître. Il conseille d''absorber de l'huile d'olive et de faire sécher durant un jour sur un instrument neuf pour prévenir des moisissures, ce que j'ai fait. Après plusieurs jours de pratique, j'ai tout de même constaté l'apparition de moisissures noires. Selon lui quand ça arrive, le mal est fait et il est impossible d'enlever ces champignons (sans abîmer l'instrument j'imagine). Il conseille de faire passer un bout de textile après chaque session pour prévenir l'apparition de ces champignons. Donc ma question est de savoir comment vous entretenez l'instrument pour éviter l'apparition de ces moisissures ? Ca m'inquiète un peu car si le son ne change pas, c'est quand même pas très sain d'inhaler ces moisissures qui d'ailleurs produisent une odeur assez désagréable. Merci !

I've been dealing with gape worm for 5 months now, I know it's gape worm because they went to the vet and also are coughing up bright red worms that are y shaped. I've tried fenbenzol and it worked only while on medication then after 10 day withdraw all symptoms returned. They have been on a double dose for 10 days then again for 10 days all symptoms returned after withdraw time. I've also tried moxidectin and it didn't work at all. Then I tried oxfendazole didn't work at all. They get pumpkin, garlic, de, and cinnamon. Nothing is working. I also clean their pen and feed water bowls everyday. So I'm going to try what you suggested. Thank you for the video because there is not a lot of research or studies done on these nasty worms.
