Things I Disliked about Living in Korea

No matter where you live, things will not be all sunshine and roses 100% of the time. Even though I love Korea and there were so many things I loved about living there, there were also some things that weren't particularly pleasant about living there, too. *~Buy me a coffee to support the channel~* ko-fi.com/cassiecasper ~My Social Media~ Instagram: holosanda Twitter: twitter.com...

5 Things Learning Violin Has Taught Me

Spirited Away Themed Halloween Candy Bars
มุมมอง 1.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
To go with the Kaonashi (No Face) costume that I made last week, I decided to turn the candy bars I bought for my friend's Halloween party into bath tokens like the ones seen in the Spirited Away film! This is a bit time consuming, but a pretty simple thing and I think it's going to be so fun when I pull them out from under my Kaonashi black sheet and hand them to my friends :3 #halloween #cand...
DIY Kaonashi (No Face) Costume on a Budget!
มุมมอง 85K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I made a Kaonashi costume for this upcoming Halloween! I love Miyazaki films, and Spirited away is such a wonderful and widely known film, No Face was just the perfect choice for this Halloween. The materials I used are mostly things found laying around the house, but otherwise they are all super cheap even if you don't have any of it! I'd say if you buy most of the stuff (besides the sheet set...

Peaceful autumn moments amidst the chaos

It is a very weird time for the whole world. And it's only gotten weirder in the past few weeks here in America with the approaching election and the recent news. Many of you who are reading this may be suffering a time of despair and/or uncertainty. I hope that these 5 short minutes bring you some brief relaxation, a moment much needed. The harder things get, the more I find myself giving than...
Why I came back to America (and why I love my hometown)
มุมมอง 2.8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The first word pretty much anyone has uttered since I have told them I was moving, or when they find out I moved BACK to the USA, is "WHY?!" When I first left America and started my expat journey, I was young, jaded, and bitter and would have been one of those people singing the praises of anywhere but America, and especially anywhere but my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. But after an entir...
I failed.

A failure is someone who fails to achieve what they set out to do. So in that sense, I'm a failure at many things. However, failure is not something to be afraid of, even if it's painful to do so most of the time. *~Buy me a coffee to support the channel~* ko-fi.com/cassiecasper ~My Social Media~ Instagram: holosanda Twitter: holosanda/ @holosanda
Apologies

I tried a different format today. A chatty, free-form vlog where I just kind of rambled about this train of thought I had. I feel kind of weird about it because I realize I rambled, repeated myself a lot and it's not very cohesive. I decided to upload it anyway because if nothing else, this nature park along the Florida Intracoastal Waterway is full of beautiful wildlife, plants, and sights, an...
Adult Beginner Violin - 1 year progress
มุมมอง 582K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I am 30 years old and I have been learning the violin for 1 year today. I have wanted to play the violin since the 4th grade when a classmate brought her violin and her violin teacher to school and played a duet for show-and-tell one day. My parents didn't send me to lessons and I never had enough money for an instrument or lessons fees on my own until recently. I dove head first into it, bough...
Does personality type change over time?
มุมมอง 8464 ปีที่แล้ว
(한국어는 아래에 있습니다!) What's your personality type? I love personality tests as a way to find out a bit more about myself and why I often react the way I do. MBTI types, and any other personality typing for that matter, should not be used to box people in to categories but rather serve as a starting point for deeper self-exploration and growth. Personality is not black and white, but rather a spectr...

I'm just watching ur videos remember to never give up even though it's ok to suck😮
2024/12/21 🇱🇰❤🥰
Thank you so much for making this video! It’s so encouraging and inspiring. Great to see your progress and looking forward to seeing your other videos. 🙂
My daughter started playing at age 5 and is now 8. She is just now getting to the end of Suzuki book 1. Your progress is amazing!!! I’m so impressed with how much you have done is so little time! Brava!
This video was so cool and inspiring! I got my violin when I was 12 but at the time I didn't see the value in it, now at 17 I thought it was too late to start, but watching your video reminded me that age doesn't matter when it comes to learning!
You must been practicing a lot! Your progress was quite fast
Thank you, this is very inspiring. I am 63 and will be srarting this week
This is so good!!!!
Haha I'm in month 8 and i kind of like my progress. started in the age of 44. Till 50 i want to be good at it.
I'm inspired right now, thank you❤
I'm 44 and just started violin about 3 weeks ago. I find reading the sheet music is the hardest part. It's like a different language
It is only 9 months for me playing violin but I have way more years than you 😂! I will let you know where I am at one year mark! Meantime, congratulations 🎉 you seem like a pretty good student!
I think it goes faster when people are starting at an older age. Cognitive abillités of a 4 year old is not the same as an adult, obviously (just looking at a the drawings of a4 year old vs an adult and that difference is obvious) It only show that it's never too late to learn. I just started learning at 64, and I do it for the fun of it. After a few months it gets easier and I can now play more than one note on a single bow stroke. Learning is fun, but I am learning on an electric violin. I hate regular violin as it's hurting my ears and I had to wear ear plugs all the time. I would like to warn people about this, be careful of your earing with a regular violin. Many violin players develop wringing in their ears after years of playing. With the electric violin (YEV-104) it's so great, I can play as much as I want without hurting my ears. I can practice in my bedroom at 2 am if I want because without the amp this thing is practically silent, and with the amp and headphone, it's totally silent for others.
You nailed it perfectly for me. I could never explain my worries to anyone as well as you did. Thank you so so much.
just got my violin today the d string broke while tuning but I've got more strings in the mail!!
❤❤❤ i saw your video a week ago, and i love it, i made the costume used your directions, thank you very much fom México city
I like it hahaha
I love it thank you so much! Will try it for sure. I am wondering though how will the flour and water work with no glue at all! Can you please confirm no glue was used for the paper mash part? Thanks!
I'm finished with my costume and it works perfectly well without glue if you're wondering
Hi! Are you coming back to TH-cam? Do you still play the violin?
once again its that season and im going to be this for halloween :) thx for the the tutorial
im currently 12 and im at grade 5 violin honestly that progress is craaaazy!!
….😳
Thank you so much I've been wanting to do a costume in it so hard now I know
Hey good for you. Just proves how difficult this instrument is to learn.
I might try doing this but with franks mask from dbd, any advice or should i just go for it?
Honest question: Why do people make the mask so big? Is it a matter of preference? When my daughter was 15, she introduced me to Ghibli movies and Spirited Away was the first one. I'll be going to C2E2 for the first time ever this upcoming April (with her and now she's 17) and I've chosen to make No Face my very first Cosplay. However, the vision I had in my head was of No Face the first time we see him on the bridge; his face is small. That's why I'm asking; why make the mask that big? All the tutorials I've looked at tonight (first time) show people making the masks big. 🤷🏻♂️ Please don't get me wrong; like the others I've seen, yours looks great! And I'm not just saying that! It's very clever how you used bed sheets to attain the desired look!!
Very good 😊❤
30???
Excelente trabajo Cassie con este maravilloso instrumento
It is lovely to hear the improvement and progress. Thank you for the video. 😊
I think you sound very good when you started suzuki 3. Your tone is very good I can tell you practiced scales. You still need some more volumen and technique, but since this video is old, I guess you play much better now.
I'm thinking of starting violin. I have one my dad bought, but I never learnt as a child. Do you think I should go for it as an adult, or should I just forget about it?
Go for it. I started over at age 72. You can do this.
Bravo!!!!!
what volin is that? i wanna buy too
Good for u girl, thats some huge progress 🎉
i started to play violin when i was 9 (5 years ago) and i picked up the viola about a week before my 14th birthday
Hello what is the name of the piece u played in your first performance
Yo llevo 4 meses y no toco nada bien 😢😅
You have done a great job! I'm new to Violin, but have played guitar for 30+ years and it's not easy. It was brave of you to do this video, and you really have done well! Good luck - you should be in year 4 now I guess, so hope that you stuck with it!
That’s absolutely amazing!! I’ve been playing since I was 4 and it took me years to get to Suzuki book 3, even with my mother being a professional violinist. You sound incredible and are much much more that bearable to listen to, that was beautiful!!
I'm on day 2. Getting a smooth bow on open strings without bounce. Thank you for giving me something to aspire to.
Are you gay?
Wow, love this vid. Did you have to learn how to read musical notes? That's the thing that has always thrown me back to learn any instrument.
I’ve learned piano,organ w/ft pedals,classical guitar,5-string frailing banjo,lap dulcimer,currently WWI mandolin,++.Inspired by poor Appalachians on back porch playing gourd +cigar box instruments.Fred Astair,Ginger Rogers sang,”Pick yr self up,dust yr self off,start all over again!”At 74,gonna try v.
I mean is great
You have made wonderful progress. Think how many people wouldn't know to rosin the bow and make a sound. And you are playing beautifully for the time spent. I'm sure it has and will be a part of your life, all of your life. Please don't be at all discouraged.
So impressed you just made my mind up to what instrument I want to play.
Did you have to learn reading music too ?
Okay so I can't believe how quickly you progressed! that actually makes me a bit worried!
Ahh the Suzuki method! You are a BRAVE Woman, I admire you. I am way too chicken to post myself playing on the Internet (yet). GOOD that you keep going! KEEP on going! Pro Tip #1 on intonation ( learned this from a Kevin Lee Luthier video): Get the Peterson Strobe tuner App for your iPhone or iPad, put that on your music stand, and watch that while you practice. If the Tuner "bars" move up or down then you're off pitch, if they don't move, you've nailed it! This has helped me immeasurably with my intonation (65 year old beginner) Pro Tip #2 in general: Get the best quality violin and bow that you can possibly afford, it can really help you to achieve your goals. Keep the old lesser one too so you can play that as well to remind you of the difference. I have two Intermediate level violins and two "firewood" level violins. A better violin may seem obvious, but I was shocked and amazed at how much diffference a better bow can make. Pro Tip #3 on practice: Master Violin soloist Ray Chen has developed an App called "Tonic" that is 100% FREE and it allows you to practice with others and get constructive feedback from others who are also learning. I believe it is available for both iPhone and Android. Pro Tip #4: Also get a Mandolin. Same neck scale length as the violin but it has frets. My Mandolin helps me when I’m working out the fingering for a new piece because the frets are like intonation “training wheels” and really help me to visualize the proper fingering. I forgot to mention this one before. The BEST thing you have done so far is your dogged perseverence (way to go, kid!). That is sure to get you results, but playing on a "Violin Shaped Object" instead of a decnt instrument with a $25 bow will not help you to get where you want to go. It makes you work harder and can actually hold you back. It would also help you (more than you might imagine) to learn more of the details all about how a violin is made, and how they work, and what makes a good one vs a not so good one. To help me learn stuff like this, I really like these TH-cam Channels and found them helpful: -- Ask Olaf The Violin Maker -- Edgar Russ Distinguished Violin Maker -- Kevin Lee Luthier -- Murphy Music Academy I bought a Piere Lomont Master violin from Olaf Grawert (the Olaf who speaks for the violins) and it is a truly excellent instrument and it came with a Flueriel carbon fiber bow as well (and a violin case with a hygrometer in it), and due to the AUD to USD exchange rate, it was very reasonable (just as good as, and less $ than my other Intermediate violin, which I bought here in the USA). I like the Flueriel bow better than the Dorfler bow I bought as a "better bow" (better than my $25 mass-produced Chinese bows). Your commitment to the craft inspires me. Keep on going, you can do it!
