It's just amazing to see how cool the horse is while the guy is carving, hammering and pushing a peace of hot metal to the hooves (which surely doesn't smell particularly good). And the horse is just thinking "it was time for a new pair of shoes".

Doesnt it get wet or damp and then infectious if you put plastic which can breath on the bottom ?

very good idea to protect the hooves from dirt or things that could get into the hooves, e.g. nails or the animal gets injured and the wound becomes inflamed as a result of which flies come etc. the wound may fester

I'm surprised horses are still being shoed with steel horse shoes. Carbon composites would improve handling and reduce unsprung weight. Putting the rubber layer on the outside would improve cornering too. Geez.🤨

Why do they need horseshoes though? Their hooves seem to do the work well enough.

The hooves are made of keratin, the same thing your nails are made of, so no the horse is not feeling any pain. In fact, quite the opposite- it’s getting a horse pedicure :)

Restoration implies there was damage of some sort. What was the damage? This just looks like general hoof maintenance. I see no overgrowth of the hoof, the frog is well maintained. The video title is wrong. Guess clicks are a new thing.

Amazing the horse knows what to do.

Even though this doesnt hurt the horse, I would imagine that standing on three legs instead of four would get uncomfortable if it goes on too long. Which is why, to me, the key to re-shoeing a horse is to be swift as well as thorough.
