FAILED Stocked Trout Fishing Turns Multi-Species (Trout Magnet To The Rescue!)
Early fall trout stockings have begun in Pennsylvania and in this week's video I decided to give fall trout fishing a shot. Usually I limit myself to trout fishing in the late winter to early summer months. Trout fishing in October was quite different than fishing in the spring. For one, I noticed that there was less fish stocked than during the spring stockings, the fish seemed smaller and less healthy, and lastly, the fish weren't near as aggressive.
I was able to catch one trout, but I could tell the day wasn't going to go my way so I decided to stop at a local creek for some multi-species action and the fishing was much better there. Bites almost every cast!

Fishing a new spot on the Brandywine Creek with the Trout Magnet! The fishing session started off slow as I began to figure out this new section of creek. Fishing Along Dock Pilings For Tropical Species Of Grouper! (September 2024)

INSANE Night Of Saltwater Micro-fishing In The Northeast! (CRAZY TROPICAL FISH!)

Nearly a month after my last attempt, I made the drive over to the saltwater as the sun began to set with one goal in mind: find and catch as many tropical strays as I can. I did exactly that. As soon as I arrived to my spot I began by spotting a Spotfin Butterflyfish that at this point in the season had finally grown large enough to get a bait to. It didn't stop there as the tropical finds jus...

Saltwater Micro-Fishing For TROPICAL Fish Species In The Northeast?!?! (New Species Caught!)

    Love diverse streams like this. Reminds me of a Waterfall I fish at here in NH. If you ever want to catch more Fallfish , waterfalls are the place to be (hence the name). Do you ever try inline spinners? I bet you'd have some good luck from a small Rooster Tail or Panther Martin, though it looks like you're getting plenty of action from the soft plastics ;)

      Thanks! Not too many waterfalls around me here in SE Pennsylvania. Still I find no shortage of Fallfish 😅 Whenever I want to switch up lures Rooster tails and Panther Martin spinners are one of the first things I’ll go to. Mainly I’ll use them for trout when they’re freshly stocked and are still aggressive enough to give chase to a spinner

      I've fished as late as mid October in the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee. I actually camped. It was still that warm. I had to go to the remote areas to catch trout though , but they were there. I'm not sure if using fluorocarbon makes a difference or not. . I've always used it....well braid with a fluorocarbon leader.

    • @TheVilleOutdoors
      @TheVilleOutdoors 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Going to those remote places are definitely the way to go. Those populations are naturally reproducing and don’t get stocked. Fish are much healthier and when less pressure by other anglers they can be more aggressive as well. Light fluorocarbon leader definitely can help as it’s more transparent in the water.

There’s fishing access at the parking areas usually, but I just like to move around a lot while I fish. I’d be happy to share some spots with you and get you started. Snakeheads have invaded so many water ways here in the eastern U.S that it’s becoming increasingly more common to find Snakeheads in places that are home to native Bowfin. It’s important for anglers to know the difference to avoid causing any harm to native populations of Bowfin.

    • @TheVilleOutdoors
      @TheVilleOutdoors 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In the late summer months the water around here usually peaks around 75 degrees which is warm enough to sustain these fish that are used to a warmer climate. It’s not until October that temperatures begin to fall and the fish that aren’t strong enough to form a migratory school either get eaten or die off from colder temperatures in the fall. These fish get swept up in the Gulf Stream as eggs or larval stage fish which is how they end up this far north.

    Why use a native blue gill for bait. When you have an invisive species that will destroy the Ecosystem.

    • @TheVilleOutdoors
      @TheVilleOutdoors 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You make a fair point, and the reason behind my bait selection is that the native Bowfin is more accustomed to feeding in the native Bluegill. Bluegill also have a more slim profile that is easier for the bowfin to eat as cutbait, compared to the more bulky Warmouth. Although my plan didn’t end up working, that was at least my thought process. Also this population of Warmouth isn’t confined to the lake. As you see in the video the Warmouth are also populating the creek that connects to the lake which eventually leads to the Delaware River. When you have an invasive species in an open system, taking a handful of Warmouth out of that system isn’t going to make the problem any lesser, or greater than what it currently is. If the Warmouth were confined to the lake it would make more sense to remove them.

    hey i was wondering how you find spots with cool fish like this i tried going today after watching one your vids but i didnt catch anything that rare or uncommon, im in nj idk where you are but i do want to get into finding and catching lots of different types for fun any tips are appreciated thank you

      The uncommon tropical visitors get washed up through the Gulf Stream as larvae or eggs so they start out in the ocean and get blown inshore through inlets where these tropical visitors can find refuge in the bay where there is more shelter and slower currents. So it would be best to start looking for areas behind openings to the ocean that connect to the bay. Any place with decent structure should have a tropical visitor or two although some are much more common than others.

      @@TheVilleOutdoors thank you i’ll be sure to try again soon it was fun seeing if i could get any! i was able to get a crevalle jack yesterday idk if that’s considered tropical or not or rare. the bluefish kept messing up my sabina and stealing hooks tho! i just got some of those tiny hooks i have to see some vids on how to tie them i didnt realize how tiny they were gonna be😂

    • @TheVilleOutdoors
      @TheVilleOutdoors หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mmfish Crevalle Jacks are considered tropics for this far North! They only get about a max size of 4 inches before the water gets too chilly and they go away. The tiny sabiki rigs are super helpful for catching those tiny ones that are more active during the day. If you found a spot with Crevalles there are likely other tropics possible there!

    I’m going to Atlanta Beach this weekend to fish off the beach. What are you guys recommend for bait and tackle and what can I expect to catch? Ty

      I’m not quite familiar with Atlanta Beach. Where is that beach located? If I look into it I would be able to recommend bait and gear for you.

      Due to spot burning, I will not give the precise location of this spot. What I will say is that both Norrhern Snakehead and Eyetail Bowfin exist in marshes that stem from the Delaware River. A little work on Google maps and you should be able to find plenty of public access points that will give you a good shot at both species

    Cool video. I need to explore the Pine Barrens some day. It's such a cool region. Have you ever caught a blackbanded sunfish from there before?

    • @TheVilleOutdoors
      @TheVilleOutdoors หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup! This video was my first time encountering Enneacanthus. I have another video up that was posted shortly after this one where I got Bluespotted and I finished it up with Black-banded on an off-camera trip I made with my father. Pine Barrens is such a unique ecosystem. Definitely worth checking out if and when you have the time.

    Great Video! Always Interesting to see the biodiversity of the micro fish species. Is it better to micro fish in saltwater at night instead of day?

    • @TheVilleOutdoors
      @TheVilleOutdoors หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Saltwater micro-fishing can be done during the day or night depending on what species you are looking to catch. In my last video I fished a micro sabiki rig for species more active during the day, but the species targeted in this video tend to spook easier in the daylight which is why I take the after dark approach.

    • @TheVilleOutdoors
      @TheVilleOutdoors หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the amount food available for them in the waters down there I would expect them to be a little more picky with their diet. I would assume there are other fish species and even turtles that would pick up the cut bait before a bowfin got to it.
