    • @thebarebowbrummie
      @thebarebowbrummie วันที่ผ่านมา

      @IREFUSE9 you can use a pair of nocking pliers if you have some but I just use a pair of wire cutters and place one of the blade in the gap of the brass nock and gently squeeze then the nock will open without any real damage. You can do it with a flat blade screwdriver but I've stabbed myself in the fingers too much doing that. Enjoy the archery journey.

    Another great video, thank you. On a separate note I see you arrow rest tip aligns with your pressure button. Is this deliberate? Have you cut it back just adjust on wrap-around slot? Thanks Steve

    • @thebarebowbrummie
      @thebarebowbrummie 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @trujedi good observation. I shoot very thin carbon arrows outdoors so I have to position my rest quite close to the plunger. The end of the rest is slightly bent up to help stop the arrow falling off the rest if I happen to pinch it ( which I sometimes do if I'm under pressure during a competition). When I shoot indoors I use much thicker arrows so I lower the rest to allow for it.

  • @trujedi
    @trujedi 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Hi, great video, very easy to follow, thank you. Couple of questions, are you shooting level through the paper or slightly down becaue of boss height and also, would you need to move nock point if changing arrows, say fatter or thinner diameter, different spine etc?

    • @thebarebowbrummie
      @thebarebowbrummie 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @trujedi hi, in this case, I am shooting slightly downwards but it doesn't make any difference to the way the arrow goes through the paper what you are trying to do is get the point and the fletching to pass through the same hole. If you change to thicker or thinner arrows your nock height will change very slightly but changing arrow stiffness should not affect your nock point. Hope this helps. Enjoy your archery journey and thanks for the support.

    How do you know / work out, how far back or forth from the nock to place the fletching on the shaft?

    • @thebarebowbrummie
      @thebarebowbrummie 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's an interesting question. ideally, you position your fletching as near to the nock as you can bearing in mind you need to place your fingers between the fletching and the nock. But there is a little bit of trial and error involved, so it's not a precise science. I tend to measure the distance based on similar arrows with the same size fletching and then adjust them to improve stability until I find the right position. I hope this helps. Enjoy the archery journey.

    I got so fed up with fletching, I decided to just shoot without fletch. My rationale: I’m at a stage where I’m far from a beginner and far from being “good”. I’m “competent”. Fletch is a waste on my at my skill level.

    • @thebarebowbrummie
      @thebarebowbrummie 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Peter. I think you need to reconsider. Your fletching creates stability in your arrow flight. Without them you may have very little consistency, and the slightest fault in your release or the tune of your bow could mean a bad miss.

    Lovely video and great to see some footage of the weekend. Glad you had a good time despite the weather and mud! I was one of the course layers/marshalls for A course. The reasoning for the 36 targets was overall admissions this year were slightly lower than anticipated, so rather than have empty pegs, the decision was made to reduce it down a little. This did also help speed things up, and considering how slippery it got on the second day, we were certainly grateful for this as marshalls.

    oh man, this video gave me some hope. I am thinking to get into archery. I was delaying it because of corona, then I got a son, and I think to buy a bow in the coming weeks. I don't like to do online shopping, I want to see things, touch them, feel them and that is what toke me so long. I wanted to try horse bows, because they are smaller and more agile and I saw this crazy dude, lars andersen. but in my area, there are mostly recurve bows or long bow. So I was thinking if it is possible to use (as much as possible) a recurve bow as a horse bow. so, to get a smaller one and play around till I find my style. this video just slapped me and told me to do whatever I think is fun. because all the other videos I saw were like "you have to do this or you are doing it wrong". but historically archery wasn't like that (as they said), but it got "boring" since it became a sport where they add so many extensions on their bows and where they follow strict rules on bow configuration and such. they force their preferences and their fits to others, as if all are like them. anyway. I still have a question: is it better to go with a shorter riser and longer arms or longer riser and shorter arms?

    • @thebarebowbrummie
      @thebarebowbrummie 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, a shorter riser and longer limbs will make the bow a bit more forgiving. A longer riser with short limbs will make the bow more aggressive and faster. It depends on which one you prefer, there really isn't a right or wrong way.

    Thank you for this video as well as all the others before it. I am very new to archery and have taken it up as I have just recently retired. As an office dweller my upper body strength is somewhat lacking, as I have found out to my dismay, but that has not put me off. My preference is field archery, walking a course and shooting at different targets which offers different challenges at each one. I have an approx draw length of 26" and my current bow is a Samic Sage 60" @ 25lb. Now, I know others may say the weight is too light, but if I'm honest, after a day out, I am exhausted, but just to add, I stand only 5' 5" 😅. I do have a second set of limbs waiting to be used: 35lb, but until I get comfortable and proficient with what I have got, they can wait.
