Testing out all the different switches I currently have on my spacebar. Any bad sounding/weird noises you hear comes from the switch, not the stabs. The HMX switches have some noise because HMX switches don't sound good when lubing the top out parts. But to keep it consistent across every switch, I did it anyways. The Sarokeys BCP switch sounds really bad because it did not have a tight connection to the plate, and was rattling around. If I put a layer of tape to stabilize the switch, the sound would be closer to the BSUN Raw switch.
Switch mods:
Every switch has the same method of lubing and swapped with identical springs. I use TX XL 50g for the springs and Deskeys V2 for the films. I lube each switch on all four sides of the stem only, including legs, with a light coat of 205g0. I lube the top out area of the stem, but I clean the bottom and the pole. For long pole switches, I clean the bottom housing hole where the pole goes into. Any switch that bottoms out via the pole is considered long pole, regardless of travel distance.

Kalam plate (6063) vs 5052 Alu plate comparison (Retest)
มุมมอง 8096 หลายเดือนก่อน
Doing the comparison again since last one I only had the alphas soldered. This test both configurations were fully soldered down. After using the 5052 plate for a day, I was able to identify it's weaknesses and today I decided to go back to the kalam stock plate. So from what I can tell the 5052 plate feels and sounds dampened. My switches just didn’t "pop" and the bottom out was weak. And I no...

Swapping Vintage Mx Black Components with Hyperglides Test
มุมมอง 3677 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a test to see what part of a Vintage Mx Black gives it its unique sound. I will be swapping one of the three components (top housing, bottom housing, stem) with a Hyperglide Mx Black. This vint is one of the notched-stem variants, so it may not have the same sound as other vints. Note that this particular vint is not the NOS one from my "vint vs retooled" comparison video, but it is the...

How to lube, clean, and diamond polish mx blacks
มุมมอง 5997 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is what I found to be the best way to lube cherry mx blacks. I see a lot of terrible guides out there on how to lube switches, which tell you to lube the floor of the housing or the center well. Most guides never go over the most important contact points of the switch, thus giving out terrible advice. If any youtuber tells you to lube the center well, the bottom of the switch stem, or the ...

Diamond Polished Broken In Hyperglide Browns Test | 1 million actuations
มุมมอง 2K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
200k grit diamond polish (0.1 microns) G: No polish, just broken in H: Diamond polish on bottom housing rails Conclusion: Yes, there is an audible difference in the scratch between the two switches. However, it is near impossible for me to feel a difference, mostly because of mx browns' light-tactile nature. The feel is certainly noticable on linear switches like mx blacks. Generally with polis...
Diamond Polished Broken In Hyperglide Blacks Test | 1 million actuations
มุมมอง 8167 หลายเดือนก่อน
200k grit diamond polish (0.1 microns) G: No polish, just broken in H: Diamond polish on bottom housing rails Conclusion: Strangely, I can't hear any improved smoothness from the polished switch. However, and this may entirely be placebo, I do feel a big difference in smoothness. The polished one feels very 'slick' and had no resistance when pressing down. The non-polished switch had a bit of r...
Vintage Mx Black vs Retooled Hyperglides
มุมมอง 5187 หลายเดือนก่อน
Apologies for that single strand of cat hair that sat on the spacebar for the whole video. This is a comparison between vintage mx blacks (1984-1995) and retooled hyperglides. It's a pretty controversial topic, as many people say that vints are identical to retools but that they have been broken in. However I got my hands on NOS (new old stock) vints, which are basically brand new and have neve...
