You made me wanna try the related etudes 😂 im tempted to print the score out😆
😀 Do it 😄
yo, San!
Yooo
Great work!!❤ Can you explain more on how does this exercise of drawing different shapes without affecting the bow improve your technique in context? Im also curious from where you got exercise too, is it your own made exercise?
Thank you. So for the bow exercise a lot of time the bow speed will change if something difficult happens in the left hand, like a lot of difficult notes or having to do a big vibrato. So drawing shapes will force the brain to separate left and right arm, force it to control the bow speed even if something strange is happening in the left hand. I came up with this while teaching a student 😅, he is about 6 and I couldn't make him slow down his bow speed when he does vibrato. But after this exercise he can separate his left and right arms a little better
Pretty nice play! (Also as always, sounds pain and so exposed for opening 😂)
Ya ha ha, I can only imagine the stress of performing this live
Excelente canal. Gracias!
Me gusta mucho esto. 10:23
Gracias 🙏
cool exercise drawing shapes and bowing at the same time!
Haha ya makes you feel like a wizard
caprice 4 and 5 next. i wish you luck soldier 🫡
Thank you, I'll need a lot of luck 🤞
Nice try
Not everyone is into this stuff, but still congrats
Not everyone can do this stuff.
Thank you
🎉
I love your video!!! Thanks to show us the etudes that match to study tunning and bow motion and diferents tecnics. Aaaaah! and showing the process of Ricochet, you are helping a lot!
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that
So you’re playing all the bottom notes like fifths across both strings? 😵💫
Yes, or else the opening strings are too easy to ring, causing a lot of noice
Dude, i'm not tryna make fun of u but when I heard this, I genuinely thought of the scene after his highway star😂😂😂 im sorry😂😂😂
😅 ha ha ha that's quite true
What about "Recuerdos de Alhambra" by Tarrega?
Oh that's a good one, will give it a try
You and intonation go along really well especially in these weird tenths
Thank you😅I try to at least ha ha
Com paciência chegaremos lá! 🎉
Original version can be found in the first edition in IMSLP I suppose? (Also this caprice gives me a lot of insight on how to torture violinist 😂)
Bro the double octave section actually sounded ok. From your face during that section is easy to tell the amount of gruelling pain. Like dude the biggest pain i've ever felt on the cello were the tenths, but u are playing elevenths as double octaves... Dude...
Dude... Thank you, Ha ha ya it was pretty painful 😇
Holy F-- you’re one of the best out here! God bless
Thank you😀
i never thought of muting the strings before. this is totally new for me. i will try it in some mazas and wohlfardts too!
Ya it's a good habit to have if you want to play cleaner, once you get the hang of it it will become second nature
I really enjoy this series, and I appreciate that you play the original version, despite what the score in the video shows :)
I'm really glad to hear that, ya I was wondering why all the scores I can find don't have the E that I remember learning
wow, very good, in my opnion this is the hardest caprice
Ya it pretty hard😅 there are crazier ones still coming ha ha
well It's hard but not until you try the 4th caprice
I remember every day in school getting notifications of your videos, and being excited to go and see them 😂
but now I'm getting 6(couting weekend) days off 🙈
Wow great job 👏👏👏👏
Locatelli, still it is really pain to play that high position with uncomfortable hand (already feel through the sightreading). Still, awaiting you to play more works w Edit: Also, the score you used is just an interpretation, the original score only notated arpeggios instead of writing exact rhythm and pattern.
Oh I see. 😄 Also I looked at Anzoletti grand caprices, that stuff is crazy 🤣. Will try to sight read it soon
@@SanTheViolinDude Feel like you will give up for sightreading even just first caprice 🤣
Man I can see the pain on your face, thanks for sacrificing your fingers for us
👼👍
2:10 is ridiculous lol
@@Revan-up5tl 😅
1:00 it's honestly incredible that you were able to get it to sound that good so fast- 10 takes is like nothing compared to how long it would take the average violinist to play that
@@Revan-up5tl thank you, thankfully there's a melodic pattern repeating in different arrangements, that's why it didn't take too long
lol no way you sightread all that
@@john_37 😅 if it was all random notes then it wouldn't be possible, luckily the melody is repeating in different variations
@SanTheViolinDude i still would have had to pause after about 2 or 3 arpeggios haha
"Look easy"? You completely out of your mind bro?
Playing through all the etudes and caprices might have actually fried my brain a little😅
Thank you for make a video just answering my question <3 Locatelli today is considered the "baroque Paganini", you can try the 25 caprices from The Art of the Violin, Op.3, each taken from his various concerti, after you finish with Paganini and Mazas! in the same topic, another indication is the "brazilian Paganini", his name is Flausino Vale and his work "26 Prelúdios Característicos e Concertantes para violino só" is full of brazilian rhythms influences. they're not as hard as Paganini or Locatelli (i think) but it's very entertaining too!
@@ElsweyrDiego amazing, I'll for sure check them out
NOSSA! I had to look those pieces, and you killed me 😅 I already saved them for a future where I have enough technique to play those. 😍
"Easy to enter, but hard to escape" wrote Locatelli in the first page of this piece
@@nejibensassi5657 facts
maybe sightread something supposedly easy technically but not musically?
@@oxoelfoxo yes, that is one of my biggest weakness, being musical. But you are right, that's something I need to improve on
Have you tried playing Ernst’s arrangement of the Erlkönig?
That piece is crazy
@@henrykwieniawski7233 yes I have, I played it during school. I'll do a video on that soon😄
Man, I can’t wait till I can afford a violin again 😃
It´s incredible how even if the piece it´s extremely hard, your tried to play it and it sounds really amazing
@@benjaminjuliocesarquispego9089 thank you, 😄
I’ve been playing violin for six years now and I am on the road for Paganini my teacher has been started on the 16th caprice
16 is a nice one
I think this one is more expressive than virtuosic. Call me weird, but I find it quite quaint and relaxing.
Amazing as always!!!! Oh btw, may I ask if you could sightread Marco Anzoletti's 5 Gran Caprices (score in IMSLP)? It's more difficult than Roman Kim in my opinion 😂
I'll check it out!
so goated. wish we had a san the cello dude out there
😅
ive been playing the violin for like 7 months and thats just witchcraft if you played this at a 1700s church they'd just murder on the spot great video tho i can only hope to get as good as you!
😂👼
Could you please share how many years have you been playing? I'm still a beginner (3 months) and I just want to have an idea how many years (roughly speaking) I still need before doing such exercises. I also like to listen to your videos while I work or study, keep it up, I really enjoy it 🌷
I've been playing for 25 years, but to play the caprices, you don't really need that long. Just keep practicing and build your technique and foundation, you'll get there
taking only the strings crossings / arpeggios and comparing to Locatelli's harmonic labyrinth which one do you think is harder?
Dude, I don't even know what that is 😂, and I just looked it up. Your knowledge of these is truly impressive, I'll have to play it and do a comparison. Thank you for exposing me to these
@@SanTheViolinDude Locatelli's cadenzas could honestly be used as an individual set of caprices on their own. The harmonic labyrinth is my favorite to listen to though. I also highly recommend his "L'Arte del violino" cadenza from the first movement of his op. 3 no. 1 violin concerto.
Definitely Harmonic Labyrinth 😂 Since you would need to move to pretty high and uncomfortable positions with very awkward stretchings
why is your name san the violin dude and not san the violin man, kinda a missed opportunity
@@john_37 violin dude sounded funny in my head 😂
Thank you for putting the 'associated etudes and caprices' its really helpful ✨️❤
Thank you master!
hey San!
Nice try
Thank you
Great job! 👏👏👏
Thank you! 😃
We dont have the definition of "deciphering" 😂
Why? Did I spell it wrongly
Thank you for sharing! It is so inspiring to watch you practice.
This is very similar to Villa Lobos' Etude no.2 for classical guitar which is just as painful as this.
Oh I love Villa Lobos, I should check it out
